  1. Yes it makes sense. My comment was made with that understanding. And I am saying it is possible that this dimension may not have existed at one time. This dimension is existence. There may have been a pre existence. Of course this quantum physics stuff is interesting to contemplate, but it doesn't really change our doctrines any. I thought I would introduce a geekiness level to the discussion. How was I to know that this forum had a NO GEEK policy. :)
  2. I disagree. If there exists something beyond the space/time continuum in which we live, then there is the possibility of a pre-existence. That would be the existence outside of our dimension that predates our own. (Sorry, did I just show my geekish sci-fi side.) :)
  3. For me, it is the only religion that has made sense. With it I understand who I am, where I came from, why I am here, and an idea of what lies ahead. :)
  4. Good point. :)
  5. Having come over here from an apologetics forum where the non-LDS followed the interpretation of Jude as the OP has presented, I think I have a pretty good handle on this topic. LDS are told by the Leadership to avoid conflict and that is what following this interpretation of contending for the faith leads to - conflict. While we may want to set people straight on the truth, what ends up happening is we lose the spirit as we reach higher and higher levels of contention. For many, including myself, the Love of God leaves us as we attempt to prove the truthfulness of our beliefs. And it doesn't stay within the confines of the forums, it spills over into our everyday lives. Contention on the forum can make you short tempered with your family, friends, and coworkers. It can dim your view of life and prevent you from seeing the wonderful miracle that is life. I suggest that if you want to contend for the truth you do so by setting an example for others to follow. :)
  6. I think you struck on an important element. The closer you get the harder satan is going to work to keep you from the truth. You just gotta keep plugging away and trust that the Lord will help you. :)
  7. Oh no, I would go to the great down under. I would love to vacation there some year and take a look around. Just not France.
  8. I don't know if this will help, but my personal experience has been this: I recieved my Patriarchal blessing at 16. It stated that the Lord had a mission for me and that I also promised a young lady in the pre-existence that I would marry her. I didn't serve a mission and was inactive for awhile. I spent 14 years as a single parent and thought - I blew it. All those promises are now gone for me. However, I remarried a wonderful LDS woman who I feel so very strongly is that young lady I promised to marry in the pre-existence. It seems like she needed to be ready for me before that happened. And two years ago I got into family history. My family are converts, there has been no work done on our genealogy and I have been fortunate enough to do a great deal of it so far. I realize that this is the mission that was spoken of in my blessing. So my point is that much of what existed in my blessing came about much later in life. when it happened I knew that it was the event that had been told to me years before. Hope that helps. :)
  9. Well, more can mean quality or quantity. There could be more women who are righteous and that does not mean that they have a greater spiritual capacity then men who are righteous. If that makes any sense. :)
  10. My thought on this is that we probably had a good idea of the situation we would be placed in mortal life and that could lead to a resonable expectation of what difficulties might go along with it. But probably more importantly, I feel that when we are done with this life, we will be able to look back on it and see how our trials, and even our weaknesses, were important to our eternal progress. :)
  11. Many westerns have LDS groups or characters, including Culpepper Cattle Company. An old western, but the only one I could think of off the top of my head. :)
  12. Try New.FamilySearch.org :)
  13. Ditto - from when I was a single parent. It really helpd me out. And I think it gives a break to those who are working to improve their situation. That is the kind of help I like to see our government give. :)
  14. I went to New Family Search and checked out the download process. I am not familiar with either of the programs, so I am sorry to say I can't be much help there. Usually, the process is one way for me. Which is, I search for my ancestors and when I find them I upload them for others to use. I haven't had much need to go the other way, especially since I know that there are often mistakes in the research that has previously been done. Probably either program will be fine. :)
  15. I use PAF5 and work with New Family Search. I have not run into any situation where I have needed any third party add ons. Could you explain what you are trying to do and maybe that will give me a better idea of what you need.
  16. Innocent doesn't have to mean childish or child like. It can also mean free from wrong doing. In fact, I would say that children are free from wrong doing because they are too young to know the difference. My point being, where is the wrong in what was listed? Why are we wrong for consuming beef and taking the necessary steps to do that? :)
  17. You do know that April 1st is a bit aways yet? :)
  18. Whenever I watch a nature documentary, I am reminded of statements about how people treat animals. Have you ever seen what animals do to one another? If they are innocent, considering what they do to each other, then how can we be any less innocent? :)
  19. Welcome. :)
  20. Welcome. :)
  21. I don't have either family name, but I would be willing to do some research on it. Do you know when they were born and where they were born. Possibly when and where they were married. :)
  22. Sounds like it was a good day. I'm glad for you. :)
  23. Welcome to the forum. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)
  24. Welcome. :)
  25. Gosh, and here I was expecting an exciting story about being named hells. But your welcome anyway. :)
