Have to disagree with this one. Where I live it's becoming a very high profile sport with a large following. Many of the kids in our ward play football and there are leagues throughout the school system here. A lot of people are following the World Cup and there are many who are very passionate.

No doubt that woman knows exactly what she is doing.

This all sounds too familiar. As a Counselor myself, I know that if a child comes to me with accusations of abuse, I would do my utmost to make sure that it was a truthful allegation. It's not always taken at face value that the abuse did happen. Therapists are well aware of these kind of situations and are trained to act accordingly. I have a son, whom we adopted. He is 13 years old. He has ADHD, ODD and Bipolar. Your step daughter sounds quite similar to him. His biological mother has Bipolar disorder, it is very common to be passed down genetically. You need to get this child medicated and treated, otherwise this child has a high risk of ending up suicidal, on drugs or in jail. I cannot emphasis enough how important this is. This child is seriously at risk and needs intervention; medication and therapy. If you are living in the home with this child, step child or not, you have a responsibility and a say. This is your life too. I also have a problem with permissive grandparents and if you had to, you cut contact until you can get her diagnosed etc. You may need to look at hospitalisation (my son just recently spent 3.5 weeks in a psychiatric unit), but it is for her benefit. Sometimes, unfortunately children with these type of disorders just cannot live in the home. Your step daughter sounds very manipulative which is another sign. Please help this child before it is too late. It's going to be a very painful journey and in some cases you may need to be firm and harsh. But for her benefit and the family, it needs to be done.

Hahaha you reckon? We (the rest of the world that exists outside of America) look to not only the end result but the way the game is formed, the dynamics of the game and the skills that are needed. Try it sometime, you may actually enjoy it.

Pffft that game only gets exciting when they stop for adverts.

Football is a great, exciting game John, give it a chance. :) It is a very fast-paced highly skilled game. A player can only get a penalty in football if the infraction happens inside the penalty box, the larger rectangle area surrounding the goal. Then it is one on one between player and goalie. The rest of the infractions are dealt with on the spot where they happen. Also, don't underestimate how dangerous some of those free kicks that are given on infractions can happen. Many a goal has been scored because of those free kicks. David Beckham used to scare many a goalie with his free kick skills.

The Ref blew early because the USA were making a change to time waste. He had already had words with one USA player for time wasting during the previous change so he just wasn't playing the antics. With football, the clock doesn't stop for subs, so it is a well known thing to use the subbing at the end of the game just to waste time.

Personality Types (everyone should take this) ^^
Sali replied to firehotemily's topic in Youth and Seminary
I am an INFJ also. :) Whilst in my training to become a Counselor, we studied typology in great depth. I found it a fascinating tool and at times have used it in my work with my clients. As a typical INFJ, I confused myself at times. Doing this test and studying what an INFJ is, helped me realise who and what I am. It helped me understand why I found social situations so difficult and helped me to understand that I was not 'weird', I was just 'different'. As an INFJ I feel the Gospel appeals to me as it taps into my feeling and intuition. In my work I use a lot of gut instinct, and I use this with the Gospel too; It's how I discern spiritual matters. It would be interesting to actually know what the ratio of types were within the Church. -
I married someone I met whilst he was on his mission. We married four weeks after his return. We have been married now for 19 years with two children and have a very strong marriage. So yes, I believe that people can meet their eternal companions on their mission. Everything fell into place for us. I knew him from almost the beginning of his mission, our personalities just clicked and we became friends. We lost touch but he then returned close to the area at the last of his mission. At the end of his mission we just knew we were meant to be together and it all flowed from there. He fulfilled an honorable mission and was released accordingly at the end. I do believe from our experiences together that we are meant to be together. I still say that after all these years and after all the hormones have died down. I am a believer in if things are meant to be, then it will work out.

Does anyone know where, when, how the business sector of the Church was started?

Oh I've corrected them on that issue. (I did an okay job with that one ).

Thanks Hordak. I stand corrected and confessed to being wrong. No doubt I'll be blasted to pieces for it.

How much exactly is it costing to build the Mall? I have no problem with it at all I'm asking because on another site I visit someone is bashing the Church saying it is costing $4 billion, whereas I thought it was more like $4 million. Have I corrected them prematurely?

I had my share of Utah Mormons this last summer thanks and I'd rather not repeat the experience. Whilst attending the same ward there for three weeks, we were not approached or spoken to by anyone. I'll stay here in NC thanks.

This is an issue that I have great interest in. Having lived in England for two thirds of my life and a third in the US and having health issues in both countries I feel I have enough experience of it to give my opinion. In England I may have had to wait for treatment if it was not life threatening, but if it was an emergency it's dealt with immediately. Also I can take my child to the doctor without worrying about how I will pay for it and how I will pay the extortionate pharmaceutical prices I find here in the US. My family doesn't have insurance here in the US. We cannot afford it. My husband works 48 hours a week. We are not in debt (apart from medical bills) but cannot afford another mortgage payment worth of health insurance. But yet, we do not qualify for Medicaid. We make literally just over the limit that would qualify us for it. It's families that are in our position that suffer. If you are 'poor' you get medicaid, if you are well off you can afford insurance. It's the people in the middle that have the problems. I have a health issue right now and I really should see a doctor. But.............I can't afford to. I really cannot as I know it will lead to tests that will cost thousands and I have already $6,000 (just for 2 five minute CT scans) owing to a hospital due to tests done after complications of surgery. Also back in England my son had medication for his disability. It cost me nothing in England to go the pharmacist to get his drugs. I take the same prescription to pharmacies here and they quote me $450+ to fill his prescription for just one month. We have had to change a medication that really worked well, to one that is more affordable. Saying that, being in hospital in the States is kinda like being in a hotel. When my daughter was born, my husband and I were rewarded with a Steak dinner in a private restaurant room courtesy of the hospital. Yeah right! The medical system here does need tweaking a lot. I can't see what is so wrong with Obama's plan in the fact that it will give people who are not able to provide for themselves the necessary medical care that they need. People in England may die by having to wait for treatment, but people in the US die because they can't afford the treatment and are scared to get into so much debilitating debt. That's my take and experience on this issue.

I stumbled upon this forum today and I really like the look of it. :) I am a member of the Church and have been for 25 years. Our family have recently moved to a new area and ward where I find I have copious amounts of time on my hands. I started researching LDS forums on the web a few months ago, as I have had some confusion about certain matters. I fully believe the LDS church and teachings. I love Jesus Christ most of all and my main goal is to become closer to him and I'm hoping by reading this forum I can find new ways. Love and peace to you all x
