So what? People like you come and go every month here. If you don't like me, well I didn't ask you to like me in the first place.
-
I am assuming you are just trying to inspire a spirited discussion. You don't actually believe that crap do you?
-
What else is new!

If that were the case then we'd live in a much better world, instead of one where people pretend like nothing bad has ever happened.

You are correct, I will re-phrase.The significance of the cross and everything surrounding it is the most important thin in Christianity. Without the cross, we would all be condemned just because we are living our lives. The object itself is significant, but not as significant as what the meaning is behind it. I do get curious how LDS members give the cross so little attention. Check out any online concordance. This is basic english we're talking about here. When it speaks of the sweat it describes it, "as it were drops of blood". That means it was similar but not. You probably use statements like this every day, as do I (see I did it again). I was referring to suffering brought on by others, not emotional or spiritual. Sorry for not clarifying that. Death was required for ALL sacrifices in that time and Jesus did not die in the garden but on the cross. The cross is where the sacrifice was paid, the garden was just a set up for that. But you must keep in mind what type of system God had in place. When God's people were to be granted forgiveness or anything of that nature they had to sacrifice something by killing it. check out the OT sacrifices. It's a consistency thing. I don't see how God's ways would be changed for something very similar if not identical to what had been done for thousands of years.

$2k a month? And I thought cost of living in Toronto was high.

Some of the gold was real, some wasn't. It's that simple. The problem with it was that so few people actually went to a dentist to have it verified. The one fact that is not debatable is that some forms of metal had ended up in people's mouths where there was none before (but this fact doesn't seem to be important to people).

Yea, that's it.

Find somebody else to talk with.

I am very well aware of this scipture. Read is carefully. Jesus sweat "as it were blood". Jesus never bled. Look up the original text and you'll see that "profuse sweating" is a term that is often used to describe it.Jesus is often referred to as a safricificial lamb. Have you ever seen a sacrificial lamb that was not killed? The sacrificial lamb was nothing special until it was actually killed. The cross is the single most important thing in Christianity and mormonism takes away from it.

Starsky, Glad to hear about your son. Since it is so close to home I'm going to leave it as is. When it comes to medical incidents I usually like to know exactly what happened in each specific case and decide whether or not it was supernatural or the human body doing what it should do. In this case I just hope that you and your son enjoy a long life together. Oh, and it's "parameDics". As opposed to the one line comments that contribute nothing to a discussion.

If that is the case, then it's nice to know. I'd be interested to see what the president actually said. The biggest reason I asked is because I have seen a number of mormons that don't appear to have too big of a problem with what happened. it seems like some dismiss it as not important. And yes.

William Hung thought the same thing about himself.

So that must make it ok. I love your logic. So if I go out and kill somebody that is ok because it's not as bad as the holocaust?

A woman from my church was healed of cancer just last year. Since your church is much truer than mine than you should have plenty of stories like this to tell. Such as........? My church does not fit into that description. You are right, a religion can't do anything about that. However I have seen my God do that. if you haven't seen yours do such a thing then you should give mine a try. What is the good fruit?
-
It is a scripture that does not fit into what you are trying to say so you do not give it any attention. This is not a new thing for you. Since you have no desire to talk about relevant scriptures you can find somebody else to talk with. Have you quoted me right just once in the past few days? Do you just make this stuff up as you go along?
-
Pffft, if it was only 4 then it was ok then.

Knew that was coming.

That doesn't change the fact that Jesus did not save mankind in the garden. According to what you just said, in the garden he did nothing different than he did his entire life, and even before that. Intentions don't pay the bills, and intentions didn't save mankind. Jesus' work on the cross saved mankind.

He doesn't want your conversation. he doesn't want anybody's opinions other than his own. And if you don't want to be insulted, you're gonna need to talk to somebody else. There are many other good people on this board that actually want to have an intelligent discussion.
-
Ok, that's just one bad analogy.Back to the topic. Jesus did nothing but commit himself to the cross in Gethsemane. He shed no blood, suffered nothing, and paid for no sins. Let's make this practical: When you decide that you are going to do something, is that enough or do you actuall have to go ahead and do it? Jesus made a decision in Gethsemane, but He didn't do anything.

Now which mormon will step forward and appologize for the Mountain Meadows Massacre.

Then I guess it doesn't bring that much happiness. Depression is NOT normal, nor natural. If your religion doesn't help you get past your problems then why is your belief system anything special? You suffer the same bad things as everybody else, in fact you suffer statistically more, and then claim that your religion sets you apart and gets you closer to God. It seems like mormons have more problems than the people that they are above. There are mormons on this board who tell us to judge the mormon church by the fruit it produces. Kinda hard to ignore bad fruit like this. No, it's just the irregularly high numbers that people are taking notice of.

It seems that Sephara has located my source.

I am finding this funny, as I'm sure others are too. You are pushing a topic that I can't go any further with at this point. I have mentioned more than once that I need to locate my source. Without my source, there is no discussion here. But you want to have one anyways. That is where I think your reasoning is silly. You are just so eager to pick a fight. Well go pick one somewhere else. You are boring me.
