  1. I was referring to scripture, not movies.
  2. Have you not read the account in the bible about the person possessed by evil spirits?
  3. There was a peiod of time in my life where I was bothered by the personal advances of evil spirits. I remember the hometeachers commenting on seeing them hovering in the air all around my home. There was a scary feeling when they were close by. Many times I used priesthood power to keep them away which always worked but they kept coming back. On one particular occasion I awoke from a very nasty nightmare and saw with my minds eye, something I did not see but I sure felt it coming quickly toward me and I sat up quickly and blurted out something I could not understand. I think that was evil spirits attempting to actually possess my body but it didn't work because of what I did or said. We've been told it may not be the best idea to talk about this stuff so I'll cut it short. I have not found a little talk of this stuff to be of harm.:) This experience I had with my xwife lasted about 2 months. On another of many incidences she was picked up and carried from one side of the living room to the other, I wasn't there to see that one. Singing hymes and prayer help a great deal to chase spirits away but the best way is by someone who has the priesthood and saying the proper words.
  4. If I am talking with a non member I will use the word saved as Jesus intended it to used where He explains in the bible, to be saved is to repent and be baptized. Baptism is a celestial ordinance. It was PC who started this thread...just to avoid confusion.
  5. Again you and I have found 2 proper usages of the same word and yes it can amusing and confusing for some.:)
  6. There are many people out there who are not lds who live good righteous lives. The girl I see now has a firm grasp on what is good and what is not, and she chooses the good as a standard for her life. I have a hard time seeing anyone better for me then her, in or out of the church. When the time is right, we will be married in the temple.
  7. I tend to agree with you on this one PC. There is mercy, however there is also justice. I have however seen many very good church members believe much the same as Traveler.
  8. 2 Nephi 31:19-20.. 19 And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save. 20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life. You will find that most do not understand how we are meant to feast on the scriptures. The most common excuse is I don't have the time, or I do not believe I need to do this, I get enough at church. I myself used to think a chapter a day was enough along with Sunday School and Priesthood Quorum lessons. I did this for 7 years and then went inactive because of lack of the Spirit. Presently I have now looked forward to Sunday for the last 5 years becuase it is so wonderful to me now. The only difference is I spend more time then just a chapter a day.
  9. As long as your living well enough, where you stand is holy ground.
  10. The Father stays where He is...Jesus will visit the Terrestrial but resides in Celestial is pretty much the only written information the church has...speculation however is another matter.
  11. Yes Jesus will visit the terrestrial but will not reside there. :)
  12. Some of us are so easily offended or missunderstood sometimes it dosen't matter how you put things. (I thinks I offended myself that time) :)
  13. Good take on the picture there.
  14. Where it states in the bible "be ye saved" is it not referring to heaven, where God dwells not any other place?
  15. lol good can be had where ever you might be. :)
  16. I've seen you say this before where you regard those who recieve lesser degree's of glory as being saved. To me being saved is becoming a member of the church and living good enough to make it back to the Father. The church and the ordinances within it are all ruled by Celestial laws. My general sense of being saved is different then yours.
  17. I have found the greatest happiness comes from doing or being good. What better place to find how to do this then from church or God.
  18. Are you sure about that? I can think of one solution that would solve all of the ills of this world. "repentance"
  19. Along the same line I believe all are meant and would repent if our eye's were opened and could see with pure knowledge the reason why we are hear, and we would all go back to live with our Father. It is because of lack of belief and the evil one and the want for the worldly things of this life that prevent this from happening.
  20. Could take the example of people who are in jail. Most deserve to be there but most would rather be in a better place.
  21. and I was thinking you had one them carboat thingamajigs edit..oops too late :)
  22. According to Joseph Smith's glorious vision of the telestial world, I would have to say a big no. :) I've often been very grateful for the knowledge of that vision.
  23. I find it impossible to think that those who are trying and wanting to make it to the Celestial but end up in the terrestrial for example, will be glad they didn't make it. lol
