  1. My thought on this is simple: if a past prophet taught a doctrine and claimed it was eternal and then many years later another prophet invalidates what was taught, again, as eternal, then one of them has already led the church astray. Why? Let's say a prophet led the church for 40 years preaching xyz doctrine. During those 40 years, many people FOLLOWED the prophet, correct? Well, let's say that 125 years later, a new prophet changes everything the old prophet taught as doctrine, then all the people under the new prophet are being led astray since two prophets contradict each other in doctrine. One said the doctrine was eternal and the other invalidated such doctrine. Since God is unchangeable - at least that is what is taught - He wouldn;t teach a prophet an eternal doctrine 125 years ago and say it was eternal only to CHANGE it later and say it was temporary or a theory. You can't have contradictions in eternal doctrines or someone is not in tune and therefore may inadvertedly mislead people.
  2. Hands down, Jewish are the most successful financially even not believing in Christ. Jews believe in God. Then, Messianic Jews that believe in both God and Christ. Because religion teaches good principles and promotes good behavior - (when not taken to extremes) - most religious people that apply themselves, study hard and behave correctly in society will tend to achieve a high level of worldly, monetary success. The other aspect of it is parents teaching kids how to become successful in business. Asians also have good work ethic and don't go into debt and value education. They also have good brains for the sciences. Also successful are Arabs, Lebanese, Iranians, Armenians and persians in general. Many Mormons are included in the ladder of financial success and many keep things private so you don't know that they are really loaded with money.
  3. Both Elders and Sisters Rock. The call is the same.
  4. Record lows in 20 years based on an arctic jet stream that will FREEZE a lot of things this week, basically half of the U.S. The aftermath of these freezing temperatures will be scary, I think.
  5. The letters from the Presidency dated August 17, 1949 and December 15, 1969 FULLY explained the ban on the Priesthood from a doctrinal point of view. They weren't theories. According to the FP, the ban was doctrine until further revelation that would eventually change everything. (1978). Church critics like to say that BY was a racist. If so, why in the world would we have a university bearing his name? I do not believe that BY was a racist. He was preaching the doctrine of separation. It is the same thing that will happen to those who inherit one of the 3 kingdoms. It is the same doctrine on which the Judgment Day is based on. Otherwise, why even have a Judgment Day? Ever heard anyone taking issue with the Judgment Day and calling it a discriminatory event?
  6. I think there is a place for classic guitar in the church if the instrument is played well in order to keep in harmony with the Spirit for example, if someone can play a piece in sacrament meeting like the video below, then great... if someone just makes a lot of noise and lacks good harmony with the instrument, then no:
  7. Get divorced and find someone you really love and get along with BEFORE you have children because after children, it all gets worse due to the changes that take place and the finances. Or else you will spend your entire life wishing you had married someone else and this is not fair to you, your spouse or your future children with her. If you have to work too hard to keep your marriage together, something is wrong. Fix it before it's too late.
  8. Okay so our healthcare system works as long as you don't get sick.
  9. When I mentioned obedience as a price of freedom from sin I guess I could have used if you love me keep my commandments I think you are right in the fact we should be obedient because we love the Lord not because we feel bound to.
  10. I have posted this else where but though It might be usefull to others the two talks I have given links to have be the source of great inspiration and meaning to myself so i wish to share them and for other to read them and feel the same way. Sometimes I wonder weather we ask advice and rely on others especally our priesthood leaders to much. I think it is important to note that the Lord wants us to be spiritual self reliant as well as temporally. That I take it to mean is being able to be taught and directed and guided by the spirit which we recieve through the counsel given in the scriptures and through living prophets and apostles. If you cannot overcome your addiction by yourself but believe that you can by paying for some programme are you" excersing faith unto repentance" and are you allowing the savior to fufill his mission and calling as the great phisician and cleanse you and make you holy and worthy to stand is in presence. These are two questions I am asking myself I am not chastening you in your efforts to be free from your addiction I commend you for doing all that you can do. But freedom comes with a price that price is obedience to God the Savior said "I am the way, the truth and the Life do man cometh unto the father but by me- the thruth will set you free" Here are two links to devotional talks given by Elder David A Bednar my advice is that you read them and the scriptures that he uses that you ponder in your heart the meaning of the words and that you pray with real intent to know if thay are true. According to Thy Faith Turn Ye, Turn Ye Unto the Lord Your God As you act on the Lords counsel and turn to him you will recognize that he never left you but he has walked beside you through out his greatest desire is for you to be clean and worthy to live and be with him eternally he has the power to sustain you through all of you afflictions in the Name of Jesus Chirst Amen.
