  1. Try not to use the word oversensitive to describe yourself. Just say that you're really in tune to your wants, needs, likes, and dislikes. My advice, keep searching the Forums to find the threads you really love.
  2. This is how my brother explained it when I was a youngun. Hugging can cause emotions, not necessarily romantic, that can make your thoughts stray from what your primary focus should be. Of course, there are folks at the LDS church who read too much into the littlest thing.
  3. Jell-O for dessert. I'd say soda. Mac&cheese side dish. I've eaten biscuits and gravy in both styles. I only eat grits with salt, sweetened is just gross! Put the t.p. over. I pick green onions. I say pecahn. I'm originally Southern. Live in Calif., though.
  4. Hi, welcome! As one mom to another, you'll find much to entertain and enlighten you on this site. Enjoy!
  5. Hi, your POV on this site is welcomed. I think you'll find what you're looking for if you search out the Forum.
  6. I think it depends on who chooses the hymns in your ward or branch. My current branch can't seem to think of singing the more upbeat hymns. I think the church leaders really seem to want to encourage reverance in the quiet form. Yet, other more lively churches consider themselves reverent.
  7. LDS explanation of the Godhead is significant to me because it shows that the Godhead is composed of 3 seperate individuals who do different tasks, but each one does not do anything without the other two. For God's children that is good because you know they won't pull you in contrary directions.
  8. LDS teachings I've studied have always said that there are no other gods greater than Heavenly Father. That's an o.k. answer for me.
  9. In my LDS congregation, we are taught that the statement in the BofM about Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost being one God means that they work together with one purpose and as one mind. Their actions are not seperate or independent of one another.
  10. Charitable work is not so hard when it is done with the right frame of mind. And also, pets are a healthy stress reliever because of the love and joy they bring. Plus, give youth a break. I know adults who haven't "found themselves" either. Definitely their hard road.
  11. Am I correct in thinking that you're saying that all efforts affect a person's spirit in an involuntary way? Then, I'd concur.
  12. Jesus chose to take upon himself the sins of others. They were not his own sins. But he chose a path of temporal suffering, so that all others might obtain eternal salvation. I would venture to think that because he had a love for humanity that was purer than anything we could imagine, this choice was easy for him. He was perfect.
  13. I think a lot of the energy is not of our own making. It's the energy of the Holy Spirit that makes it possible for us to do the good deeds that our human weaknesses would seem to make impossible. Granted, people often think the efforts were entirely human.
  14. I would imagine that it would take more effort and energy to do the wrong thing, because when you are not lead by God, the road you have taken is lead by self-will and not by God's will. Therefore, it would be the path that would wear you out more. When you do good, your efforts are guided by the Lord and the Holy Spirit. So, you have chosen a smoother path.
  15. Do you think it takes more energy (physically, emotionally, spiritually) for a person to do something they may or may not know is wrong, than to do something good (done voluntarilly or involuntarilly)?
  16. I can not even begin to convey the pain and utter confusion of my personal experience with this issue. Even now, 15 years after the fact I can not forgive the betrayal. I still collapse in tears.
  17. "Good golf, good tennis, or whatever makes you happy", "Slime in the ice machine", "Texas has a wh---house in it", "It's hell to grow old". All said by the same Texas legend, and repeated often in Houston, pre-1995.
  18. my family often says "golly gosh wow!" You don't hear much of that either. LOL!
  19. Popular, yet questionable characters: Amos and Andy, Steppin Fetchit, Hop Sing, Speedy Gonzalez, "cowboys and indians.
  20. Slang expressions: see you later alligator, after awhile crocodile; peachy keen jellybean; how now brown cow; solid; keep on truckin'.
  21. I used to live in Texas. It seems like for, at least the past 20 years, people have been getting away with not paying child support, and not paying for even the littlest thing the child needs. What is their usual response? "It's not my responsibility. You or your family do it."
  22. In the case of child support, time and again I hear of both men and women repeatedly refusing to pay even the smallest amount, even if they're making good money. One of the disturbing things about ugly divorces is that ex-es take their anger between each other and let it interfere with taking time for the children.
  23. Would they be tenor, baritone, or bass? Heavenly Father would definitely be baritone, IMHO. Jesus would probably be a mix.
  24. Thanks to all for the advice. I've had friends who suggestf the sleep clinic, but the cpap machine is something I've never heard of. My husband and sons only complain about the snoring once in a while. My sons giggle about it mostly. The only real drama occurs when I'm sleeping in someone else's place.
  25. Searching for a holistic remedy for extreme snoring. Yes, I could drop several pounds. But I need a quicker solution. The teasing can get brutal.
