  1. Once and for all, may it be made legal for any adult couple who love and cherish one another to be married, without their marriage invalidated.
  2. Hi! Don't be shy, speak your mind. You'll be fine. You'll find you'rd having a good time.
  3. The forum needs your words of wisdom. Welcome!
  4. Make yourself at home.
  5. Hey! What is this thing about wanting to sit on the same pew every Sunday, anyway? It's not a couch, where your butt print is beginning to provide that "sweet spot".
  6. There are such things as good manners, fellowship, teaching by example, and putting yourself in the other person's shoes. Do we really want to emulate those people who continually save so many seats? Perhaps they are so caught up in themselves to recognize this not so petty thing.
  7. There are no good reasons to save seats. Sure, families love to sit together. But isn't the important thing that you went to church as a family? I see far too many families doing the seat saving(notorious in Stake Conference) purely for vanity's purposes.
  8. Am I the only one, or can others recognize an ad as being LDS, even before they say it? I always like LDS ads. The new ads use a common ad technique that brings positive responses. Other groups have used similar ads tn show they're "normal".
  9. No way. They offer balanced reporting. I'm glad that they give time for differing viewpoints. It's unfairly described as a conservatively biased network. I'm not liberal or conservative, I share some views with both groups. And I've voted Democrat and Republican at various times. If anything, viewers are not focused, on the average.
  10. I pretty much notice that most news sources present their news as if their target audiences are dimwits. Fox News is mentally stimulating.
  11. I watch Fox News if I want intelligent, well-thought discussions about the news. I watch the other news sources to find out what the less informed people think of the news. All news sources present their info in a way that their target audience will understand.
  12. I have two sons, 7 and 5. My husband and I would both feel the need and desire to be nurturers and providers. I want my sons to know it takes more to being a father than going out to work and pay the bills. And I want them to see how we both can be there to feed them, share activities with them, etc. We both work part-time.
  13. Mliff, I think you still might have to deal with pushy church members. From their POV they're trying to do what they think Jesus would do, but aren't able to see when their Good Samaritan attempts have crossed the line to being unwelcome.
  14. May God bless you as you go in search of your right path. I've been life-long LDS, but I went through a period of inactivity for several years. The important thing is to never give up on your faith in God. And know that he knows you like no one else could.
  15. Adjust your frequencies. You may not be tuning in to the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is not fickle. Thank goodness. Or else no one would ever feel its presence.
  16. I am a life-long LDS member. And, boy, do I ever appreciate all that the church stands for. I have grown to value it more, as an adult. Children and young adults don't always get it.
  17. Welcome! I hope you'll enjoy this place as much as many others do. It can be addictive.
  18. I know you'll be welcoming the cooler temps. Welcome to this place. It's pretty cool.
  19. After reading about everyone's experiences at their own church services, I feel even more glad that I found such a good branch of the church for me and my kids. I am always coming away from services so happy that I learned so many good things. You really don't have to be an experienced speaker. The Spirit will always guide the person who truly desires to receive it.
  20. I attend the SWLA Branch, and it is the best 3 hr. church service EVER! Too bad some LDS are suffering through boring services. I have no complaints. Talk about diversity, too. Not just one ethnicity here. And the youth are hands-down the best. The choir is fun. And absolutely everyone, converts and long-time members alike, give great talks and lessons. Every week the Holy Spirit is so present. Testimonies are strong. And the missionaries are GREAT!
  21. Even the most devout Mormons sometimes allow themselves to stretch their boundaries. Don't encourage her to do that, do encourage her to stick to her beliefs. Best of luck on your LDS studies.
  22. I saw that Nightline report and thought it was high-larious! Why would people who supposedly don't believe in religion even care one way or another about being de-baptized? Even in the name of humor. They should go to a real comedy show, and not to someone taking advantage oe their weakness.
  23. Broaden your horizons. Your EC may not be LDS now, but may become so. I know several guys who think skinny is unappealing, and choose to date much larger girls.
  24. I thought I was the only person who the missionaries rushed to set a baptism date. I was baptized as a child. Anyway, I currently know several women who attend church without their husband.
  25. I like it. It actually is a more positive way to see yourself. Fragile=valuable, not to be treated lightly. I think there is power in the words we use.
