  1. Someone else quoted this, but I will again: " And worlds without number have I created; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten. Without number, i.e. an infinite number of worlds And the first man of all men have I called Adam, which is many. The first man on each of these worlds was is and will be called "Adam," and up till now there has been "many". For The Father to call something "many" it is more than you can comprehend. But only an account of this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, give I unto you. You really don't need to know about them other than the fact that they exist because they aren't pertaining to your salvation. For behold, there are many worlds that have passed away by the word of my power. And there are many that now stand, and innumerable are they unto man; but all things are numbered unto me, for they are mine and I know them. Self explanatory. Many have come to an end, and there are currently an innumerable amount of populated worlds that "now stand". And it came to pass that Moses spake unto the Lord, saying: Be merciful unto thy servant, O God, and tell me concerning this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, and also the heavens, and then thy servant will be content. ... And the Lord God spake unto Moses, saying: The heavens, they are many, and they cannot be numbered unto man; but they are numbered unto me, for they are mine. Just a recap on the vastness of our Fathers works and creations. Innumerable. And as one earth shall pass away, and the heavens thereof even so shall another come; and there is no end to my works, neither to my words. When one ends another comes. He never stops creating. "Is man really the best of G-d's creations?" The only reason for the creation of the universe is for Man to have a home and a proving ground. He does everything for us. Yes, man really is the best of His creations. "The worth of a soul is great in the eyes of God."
  2. It seems like there is hope for me after all!
  3. I haven't been on this forum long. I am a member of other forums, work and hobby related and what not, and to tell you the truth in my somewhat limited time here he is the first person that I have met on any forum that I have thought about adding to an "ignore" list. And he managed to do that in less than a week. snow = ignored. That's hilarious! This thread is two pages shorter now. Alas I can still see his quoted posts.
  4. I don't know snow, are you more sinful than I? You tell me. What kind of question is that anyway? Some kind of flamebait that you are hoping I will take? As far a vulnerability goes: If Satan has you convinced that he doesn't exist then further deceiving and tempting is all that much easier for him. If you are aware of his real existence and tactics it is that much easier to recognize them from afar and parry them. Spiritual discernment helps a lot in this too.
  5. thekabalist... if you are still here I have a name to request: Mahonri Moriancumer
  6. No, but it makes you deceived and vulnerable. 2nd Nephi 28 verse 22: And behold, others he flattereth away, and telleth them there is no hell; and he saith unto them: I am no devil, for there is none—and thus he whispereth in their ears, until he grasps them with his awful chains, from whence there is no deliverance.
  7. Well not exactly. "Jets out" gives the wrong image. Given the different distances between the Sacrament table and the first couple of rows (like five feet?) vs the distance up the few stairs and to the middle of the upper level where the Bishop sits (30 feet?) some of the "floor deacons" if you will, always arrived at their posts first and stood there staring at the guy taking the sacrament to the Bishop waiting for him to start chewing before they passed out the Sacrament to the congregation. The Bishop just said, "Look, if you get it first just take it. Don't wait for me." There were several times when I passed the Sacrament in this ward and I would get to the congregation before the bishop would get the tray. I just did what he said. I passed the sacrament without regard for whether or not the Bishop had received it. Funny thing was that more often than not the members would ignore the tray I was trying to hand them and just sat there staring at the Bishop waiting for him to get his before they would take it. I have been in two wards where the Bishop said, "No waiting for me. Just take the sacrament already", but waiting was so ingrained in the people they waited anyway.
  8. Here is what the scriptures you have quoted mean to me in my initial impression upon reading them. To paraphrase the initial argument: 'Do not add to these words (or book).' What words? The words of God. It is in no way intended to be interpreted to mean, "do not add to this book" e.g. Bible, Old Testament. New Testament, Revelations etc by the publication of another book or anything like unto it. What it means is, "If I say, 'thou shalt not (fill in the blank)' that's what I mean. You are not at liberty to add anything else to it like, 'thou shalt not (fill in the blank) except when (fill in the blank) unless I tell you to add an exception via revelation because I am the final authority, not you. Same thing goes with not taking anything from out of the "book" or from my words. Just because it is convenient for you to make a deletion it is not OK unless I am the one telling you to make the change, for you have not the authority to make a change to my word unless I tell you to make the change." With regards to this: “that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other.” Have you ever seen a non-LDS preacher try to teach the scriptures on TV or anywhere else? They are soooo far off the mark at times it can leave you speechless. No doubt a result of them trying to teach from their own wisdom, understanding, and philosophies, not having the light of the Holy Spirit to guide them in their understanding. Then you get two different preachers from two different parishes or congregations or whatever together and they try to "enlighten" each other on the interpretation of some scriptures and neither of them really know what's going on. Then pride gets in the way. Neither listens to the other because they know that THEY are correct not the other guy, and they get "puffed up." The initial argument of and believing that "not adding to this book, or words" means that the canon of scripture is closed and there can be no more word of God is a product of a mind which Satan has successfully spiritually darked and deceived. Don't take it the wrong way. People like this are not bad, but they have been deceived and successfully so. Think of it this way: Satan's design is to "blind the eyes and harden the hearts of the children of men that he may lead them down to destruction" or something like that. He has at his disposal many tools and is an expert at his craft. One thing he possesses is the ability to quote scripture to make his point seem valid and true even though it is a lie. He is quite good at it and can quote scripture all day long. He put those scriptures quoted above and their false interpretation in the hearts of many many people as a basis for seemingly validly dismissing continuing revelation. Satan knows that the Book of Mormon and other continuing latter-day revelation is quite possibly his greatest threat these days, so if he can convince lots of people that there can't be any way it is true because God Himself said so then he is all over it. Especially if he can quote scripture! I can just hear him, "See! God said that he is done talking! I have the scripture to prove it! What are you listening to these wackos for?" Just my two cents.
  9. One day our Bishop told everyone that they should not wait for him to take the sacrament before they do so. If you happen to get it before he does just take it. He did tell everybody. In sacrament meeting. When they passed the sacrament guess what. Everybody just stood there waiting for him to take it first Even though he told them not to do it not more than five minutes ago. It is not a requirement just some old tradition that some wont quit even when told to do so by the Bishop himself.
  10. Now that's funny right there. My wife and I were in a particular ward about 9 years ago and we were blessing our second child during the fast and testimony meeting. The Bishop prefaced the meeting with something to the effect of, "Don't tell long stories, just state your testimony. For example, 'I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God.' and be done with it. Please keep your testimonies short. Less than five minutes is good. Remember others want to talk too. Keep it on topic, Gospel stuff. Don't tell stories about your family or your vacation to Europe. The time is now yours." Then a particular sister gets up. She is the same sister that got up every fast and testimony meeting. The Bishop was actually talking to her, but she didn't know it. She then proceeds to give the worst testimony ever. EVER! And she does it every fast and testimony meeting. It was at least 30 minutes long and it took up most of the block. Only her and one other had time to speak. The whole time she spoke you literally could not understand a single word that came out of her mouth. She blubbered and blubbered and blubbered and blubbered and would not stop. Not a single person in the congregation could understand a word. The only word that anyone understood was "Amen". My Mom was sitting right behind me and she said, "AAAAMMMMEEEEENNNNN!!!!!! SHEESH!!!!" loud enough for most to hear. That got a good laugh form everybody.
  11. Care to post a link at least? It would require a lot less labor than telling me how laborious it is to tell me you have already posted with regards to the matter. I did a search and it turned up nothing. The only place I have heard that "fragments" thing is in Jehovah's Witnesses doctrine.
  12. What? Where did you get that from?
  13. I am trying to find a reference that was made as to the personality of Satan. I can't remember exactly where I heard it - whether it was in Sunday school or during conference - but I remember the general feel of the quote and some of the points. Here is what I can remember: He is an expert at his craft and is always improving. He never sleeps, never rests and is always learning new and better ways to tempt and destroy. He knows your weaknesses and attacks you there. Thats all I can remember. The Thing that stands out the most to me in this particular quote was how he never rests or sleeps. Does anyone know who said this and where I can find the quote? I have tried searching everywhere. Google - no results. LDS.org - nothing. On these forums - nothing. Any help would be appreciated!
