  1. Half fun, half vigilantism. I'm a vigilante at heart. Oh, I know. They're the ones I learned from before doing anything.
  2. The internet site that created the fake document is made specifically for this sort of thing and is actually free of any legal problems because it's so generic. I guess I"ll list the safety measures I used... No real name. No number at all. Stuff was delivered to a PO Box. Used email server that blocks IP address.
  3. In the sense that it's dangerous, I guess I'm looking for more evidence doing this could be a legitimate danger. I've yet to find any evidence.
  4. Yet I have trouble with the idea of people giving thousands of dollars to people like this. I did a bunch of research on this and I've yet to hear of anyone getting shot in retribution.
  5. Not terribly worried about that. I'm moving in a few days, the guy moving in is a cop, and all evidence says this is all the way across the country. Plus, the computer I worked from was my office computer (with approval) and amoung the employees here are three former cops, a scary and way-too-strong war veteran covered in tattoos (who is also a beloved member of his bishopric), and a couple of other security-type fellows.
  6. Today, I successfully completed my first act of scam baiting. A friend did it, so I decided to try it out. Two weeks ago I was able to draw in a scammer who wanted me to do some shipping for him. Yesterday I received obviously fake money orders with the instructions to desposit them in my own bank account, then take money from my account and wire to somebody in the Philippines. I sent him some several bogus MTCN numbers AND a fake receipt and kept him angry and upset for quite a few hours. My technical buddy observed that the amount on the money orders was enough to assume that the personal information on the money order (different from his contact information) was accurate... and so we scanned the fake money orders, looked up his company, and sent the scan to his boss, figuring even if we're wrong the company deserves to know someone is using their addess for evil purposes. It was fun and quite a rush, but now I'm wondering... We all know scamming isn't honest, but was what I did honest? I don't feel guilty, but I'm wondering if I should feel guilty.
  7. A few points with which I agree: The Church really couldn't care too much about your house rules unless they're breaking your covenants. If it's your house, you get to make the rules. And a couple of more things: It makes you sound weak to say it's the Church when it's not. Your son might be interpreting this as you're okay with his friend staying in his room but you're too afraid of the Church. If your son has no intention of obeying your rules, he and his friend, being adults, are able to take their own money and stay in a motel while she's in town.
  8. Gotcha. I had this mental image of pioneers saying to themselves "Well, it's next-to-impossible to get California oranges, so we'll whine and complain and eat the veggies out in the garden".
  9. Do we know that sachi doesn't cut back on those as well? Just because you can't live completely off-the-grid doesn't mean it's bad to pick and choose what is possible for you.
  10. Depends. Did you volunteer in the church orchard?
  11. No man could survive in a female mind.
  12. Are you suggesting food shipped across the country is preferrable and the lack of availability was the sole reason people ate local produce?
  13. I dunno... I do think the Lord does want us to be mindful of where our food comes from.
  14. Seriously, it's about moderation. Video/Computer games can be a way to relieve stress, have fun, and even learn a few things.
  15. No, no, they get much more fussy about waffles. So many choices for toppings... you have to be careful.
  16. I've always toyed with the idea of going vegetarian as I really don't like meat all that much (fish is the exception). This thread has been a good read.
  17. Glad it worked out well.
  18. I blame my thing on emotions. I had two really good friends when I was little, and both sets of their parents smoked. So I have all these happy memories playing in these houses that smelled like cigarettes.
  19. I figure if I'm going to smoke something, I want intense nicotine, darn it! Though in my case I truly believe I should never even just "try" a cigarrette. I like the smell. I think I may be predispositioned toward them.
  20. What is the point of an e-cig anyway unless you were trying to quit smoking?
  21. The only thing I could possibly contribute to this is a story of my identical twin brothers and how my dad took the same one twice for a circumcision thinking it was the brother...
  22. Well, initial ds aren't too bad, but it's true about the "har'"
  23. Boo! Stick-in-the-mud!!! Though I believe it's been said that Utah has the most easily-understood accent.
  24. Good job!!!
  25. Watch and learn, my friend, watch and learn "Ki'n" "wri'n" "bea'n" "moun'n" And, a charming Utah city: "Lay'n"
