And there is a reason why Canada is mostly empty of people!

HaHa. I thought that when I came into the church...not about the leaders but about the people in my ward (parish). I was serving in Relief Society Presidency, there were 3 of us. Relief Society is the women's organization. I was scheduled to give a talk and my president asked me if I had written it yet. I said, 'no I am going to do what you guys do. Talk for 30 seconds and then burst into tears!' Both of the other ladies were big cryers. Not very nice of me. I never can understand the crying myself. But.. I have come to respect many people in the church deeply and some of them are cryers. Jesus wept and I respect him most of all. Still don't get the crying but that is probably my cold little heart!

Yes both of these talks really resonated with me. I could not really figure out what Bro Bednar was getting at but I have this problem with him frequently. I read his book on Learning and I have no clue as to what that book was about. i stopped watching on lds.org because it was repeating the am broadcast and switched to Byutv. Yes Byutv is very proud of its reality shows!

Perhaps I am wrong, convert here, but if one stops going to relief society does that threaten one's temple recommend? I, no one get excited!, only attended sacrament when I first started attending church in my current location. I did not get the 'keeping the sabbath' thing. Some People in my ward were a bit hostile.

I have been spoken to very strongly. I wanted permission to work on the sabbath-because of course I am so important and such a special snowflake. I got a very firm reply- and told to grow up!

I see Sadlers point about teachers not using the spirit because I teach for a living and I taught without the spirit for a long time. In fact, although I pray over lessons (having taken Teaching No Greater Calling), I still struggle to teach more with the spirit and less as though I am preparing students for an exam. This tendency is a failing with professional teachers especially me! But I am fighting the tendency hard! Must do better! Not saying, you do this Dahlia! Don't get me wrong!

Dear dahlia, are you sticking to the lesson? In some wards, including material from outside church approved material is a no no. For example, in some wards, you can supplement with a conference talk but not with a book written by a well -known Mormon author. I bumped into an inactive sister in the grocery store, I told her that I missed her at church and how much I enjoyed her lessons. She told me she was asked not to teach anymore because she included material that was not from an approved source. By the way, congrats on the new job. Love to hear how you are doing!

Covert acts of kindness. I gave away Tim Hortons cards to harassed administrators for a while. I carried an extra umbrella during rainy season and gave one to the first person I saw who needed one. I am now considering a smiling campaign foe every veiled Muslim woman that I see.
