While I don't neccessarily agree w/ porter's post..I think yours is a bit judgemental...unless porter has come on here and explained his innermost personal life regarding going on a mission, it's not our place to say why he's not on a mission... porter has informed us before regarding his mission desires, and his non-mission situation at the present. I think I'm anaylizing his situation through biology. You know that the head bone is connected to the foot bone. Well I think that applies to porter's situation. Maybe his health issues are a direct result of his bad attitude; I can only speculate. M. Or maybe they are complete hereditary (which they are). You have got to be kidding me. I actually told the MTC Presidency that they couldn't send me home and that I was going regardless and they still sent me home. So anyway.

Well, that post was a COMPLETE joke for one, not serious at all. I just get a kick out of the fact there have been a few catholic guys on and 2 have been in the middle(that is the kiss of death as of late to be in the middle...statistically speaking). The part about the Jew stems from Quiz Show and actual events and if you look up the history of game shows...well you get my drift. Had I known that most would take offense I would not have posted. Now, as far as the mission goes, this you do know nothing about. I was called to go on mission to OHIO-Cincy. I was, however, sent home because of Chronic Anxiety(from the MTC, I had a week). While in the MTC, my teachers got a tad bit frustrated because in reality, there wasn't much that they could teach me and I have been endowed(along with my whole bloodline) with the ability of teaching with the spirit and extensive knowledge, and the ability to asimilate knowledge(but not the ability to spell aparentlly)Basically, after a few days I was ready to get out in the field, plus, when I got home, my stake president agreed, that and one of my roomates told me one night, "I can't believe the thought of getting out there doesn't scare you to some degree". You can judge my character all you want from that post, but how about you take a look at others I have, not many 20 year-olds read 20 pages in the BOM a day and knock out 2 doctrinal books a week. So if you wanna question my spiritual ability, go ahead(and I don't think I know everything, so don't make that judgement either), but I can garauntee I will shoot that ignorant conclusion down faster than Porter Rockwell can draw his 1851 Colt Navy Revolver(which was pretty fast).

I actually get asked that a lot, in that case I think it should be left up to the mother. But in most instances it is murder, I don't care what society says, those are children. To insist that one is not a human is deny that humans progress. In which case you could and would have to admit by that standard that until one can fully(emotionally, physically, mentally) contribute to society, one is not human. Life is life, and if you take life away against it's will(not counting the death penalty, which I am for) that's murder folks. Hope these freakin liberals will feel the full effect when they stand before God and no partisan agenda schpeel can save them from Judgement.

Oh and I don't have "pioneer lists", but I have very prominent heritage, and journals from some members of that time. And it definately was a time of faith when some didn't have it. And if you must have "proof" of my heritage as well, it's Joseph Smith, Parly P. Pratt, and George Benjamin Wallace(dedicated Northwest cornerstone of SLC Temple, had 6 apostles ordained in his house, his house was the meeting place for a great deal of meetings, campaigned for Joseph while he was running for Pres....I could go on but I think that is enough).

You want to be an antagonistic, sophmoric, mentally incoherent poster and then expect people to give you a red cent. Ok,......or not. If there is one thing that respectable, intelligent "Orthodox Christians" know, is that 1. Ed Decker is a complete sensationalist and 2. the Tanners are Strawman Pro's(The tanners are better than Ed though, at least they want nothing to do with that psycho). This is how bad the reasoning is in the camp of the anti these days. One of "astute" followers of Anti-Mormon propaganda(that I came in contact with)...said, and I quote,"Even IF Joseph Smith was a prophet of GOd, and the Book of Mormon is true, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints isn't true, it's just a colt following!" Are you kidding me, after that, I stopped even talking to Anti's. Now, don't get me wrong, it doesn't bother me if you don't agree with Mormonism, that's your choice, that's what we are on this earth for. But when you attack and have to use "half-truths" and sensationalistic principles to fight the church(when it really doesn't fight back), then you are officially off the map when it comes to reason and reality.

Of course, but he didn't look it. That's fur shure.

Actually, as was stated last night on Scarborough Country, because of extensive, progressive research available to us now, the Roe v. Wade is crumbling and is so close to be eliminated that it could be in the near future. The fact is, it is human life that is in there, and abortion is murder. However, feminists no longer can lie and use the system to their advantage just because they don't want the responsibility of their actions. Too much proof is going to come forth to keep Roe v. Wade up....as should happen.

First off we shouldn't have to see his face, why then is faith needed? We are cut off from our Father in heaven because of our fallen state. This probationary period is an opportunity to search out our Father in Heaven through prayer, fasting, and pondering and act according to the confirmation we recieve. We are here to prove our loyalty to our Heavenly Father and gain a change in heart that will allow us to dwell with him. One thing that is popular in weight lifting(I am a physical fitness kamikaze freak when it comes to the gym) and personal training, is fatigue and pain are weakness leaving the body. It is the same thing with life, trials, suffering, pressure..all are things that make us stronger and withdraw our weaknesses, and through faith in Christ and perserverance we are brought through the refiners fire by our Savior until the dross is cleared and we are as pure as that of Celestial Gold, worthy to stand before our Heavenly Father at the great day of Judgement and recieve a mansion in the house of our Father with the opportunity to be glorified as he is. I guess for me, this has always been easy to grasp, so if I seem a little cocky, or insensitive toward those who cannot accept this or who have a hard time understanding it, it's not that I am trying to be rude. This stuff just comes as second nature to me and part of what I am working on is working on others' levels when engaging in dialogue.

I think God is playing Jeopordy through him(hahahahahahahahah....I am so Joking and trust me, my lightning rod is up). That's it, that's how we can settle the truth of Religion, a Jeopordy Showdown between Pres. Hinckley, whatever old fogy they have in as pope now, and the schlepp that is running the circus that is CoC(Crock o' Crap). Course, everyone would call Pres. Hinckley a cheater because all the answers would be coming via inspiration from a perfect being. That is the other thing, Jeopordy wouldn't be that fun beyond the vail. EVERYONE KNOWS THE FREAKIN ANSWERS!!! Keep on truckin Ken, and yes I am all for this guy never losing BECAUSE he is mormon and he has whooped some Catholic *** while he has been on there. If the producers of Jeopordy want to see Ken get beat, bring a Jew on.

I remember talking about this last sunday with a someone after Elders Quorum. A quote(which I cannot furnish at this time but will when I find it) Was taken from someone within the Catholic Community in which he said(this is not verbatum but to the point)....."You Mormons don't know how much you have going for you, there are only TWO options, either the Catholic Church was started by Peter and continued through that line of authority today, or there was COMPLETE apostasy and the Gospel was fully restored to Joseph Smith....and that all other groups are workings of splinter organizations that acted without the authority from God. I don't care what Jenda has to say, I just viewed that sham of a website that is the Community of Christ, or as I like to call it Crock o' Crap. Even if you aren't mormon, it permeates(not spelled right for sure) manutia. Even you can agree Jason that they totally renigged(not a racial slur, if you have ever played spades you know what that means) on the 1st vision and cut out a bunch of historically important facts. Funny how they don't even mention Brigham, even if in opposition. Not to mention that woman are now allowed to hold the priesthood. But I digress. I don't buy that Christ is the head of a bunch of different churches. He is the head of one true church, there is only one, I believe it to be the COJCOLDS, you more or less the RCC. But there is only one. and that "semi-quote" that I posted is pretty hard to argue with.

Somehow his effeminite presence just doesn't carry the same "Destroying Angel" mentality. When I look at Niles I think "Decorating Angel"...here's and idea, I SHOULD BE IT!!! HAHAHAHA, course you would need a makeup artist that could transform me from a 21 year old to that of about 48. Seriously, I wish someone would step up and fund this thing, we need more church entertainment, that 1844 looks great and I love the music so far. Worldly entertainment is getting so dirty and worthless. Instead of watching TV, or throwing a DVD in I started reading The Way to Perfection by Joseph Fielding Smith and in the same amount of time I usually watch TV at night I got like half way through it. Should be able to finish that and Gospel Doctrine By Joseph F. Smith by the end of the week. Have you read those Snow??? There pretty good. Not exactly Articles of Faith or Jesus the Christ. But great reading nonetheless.

So, do you support the use of stem cells for therapeutic research and treatment of diseases? If I were to follow your sentiment or 7's antics I would make some irrelevant, smart alec remark. Instead, I will say this, I have been praying and pondering that one for a little bit. I have not yet come to an answer, but I am also very patient. I want my beliefs and principles for the way I walk my life to be in line with the Lord's. You can mock that and disregard that if you wish, like you and a few others have done already, but life itself is not just some big bang, or darwinistic intrigue. "Created and Inspired by the Eternal Father to carry on the work that will one day bring the righteous and lowly of heart to sit at the right hand of his thrown as joint-heirs in Christ"

I said ask God's council if you yourself are having troubles and I got burned at the stake Tr2. Somehow, a great deal on this board think that getting down on your knees and praying means you can't think for yourself.

Jason, I am finally getting down to the nitty gritty, what you have said about modern revelation destroys all but the Catholic Church and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as far as ULTIMATE TRUTH goes. Outside of the Catholic church "Orthodox Christians" don't believe in modern revelation(or at least that is what they tell me) and feel that revelations given to prophets, seers, and revelators ions ago is sufficient for them in this day. While they are principles of God they are not sufficient for guidance within the Kingdom of God in the present day. So by that how can you see any other religious option than the LDS church and the Catholic church. So we are in agreeance on that much about modern day revelation. Because what you have said by honestly answering my question(which I appreciate very deeply, because most dance like a drunk irish fool with his shoes on fire when I ask questions purtaining to proving a point) about modern revelation puts-regardless of their belief in the trinity, and the creeds-all but 2 religious sects out of the realm of ultimate truth. And as far as their being apostasy within the CoJCoLDS, bro, the Church is true(mormon church), those who fall away, create branch offs, or try to undermine the church do nothing but damn themselves. The promise was given by God that in the dispensation of the Fullness of Times the Gospel would never again be taken from his children and that a great work would go forth. But anyway, thanks for honestly answering that question.

Amen, life is that we may know temptation and opposition, and prove our loyalty to the our Heavenly Father. These mortal tabernacles will become immortal, incorruptable vessels someday through the power of resurrection. Without evil there is no good, with darkness there is no light. I wish I could give you a testimony of this but I can't. Without sadness there is no happiness. This portion of our existance, this probationary state is but a grain of sand compared to the eternity and unending joy we have ahead.
-
First off that is petty reasoning, all men are given gifts, it is their agency to choose how they use and develop those talents. Those things of evil in this world are co-produced by Satan. However, things of truth and light are from God. I cannot believe we have so many "interesting" views/reasoning...I expected things to be a little more "scholarly". Hey Snow a little help here, I don't know if you have read "Gospel Doctrine" by Joseph F. Smith(great book, I am loving it) but it speaks a lot about things of inspiration and of light and...well anyway, I need to figure a way to dumb it down, course, it was said the Lord would confound the foolishness of the world through simple things.

Yes and no. Richard Dutcher is making the film but last I heard, Val Kilmer was out or had declined: http://www.ldsfilm.com/Prophet/Prophet.html The following statement is not meant to challenge you or anything, just the last clip I read about things was that Val was on board and just waiting for Richard to get the 10 mil needed. As far as lusting after Joseph Smith, I can understand the moral dilemma for woman...hahahahahha....but honestly, I checked it out, and with the right hair, Val would make an awesome Joseph Smith. I just can't find who is playing Porter Rockwell(c'mon people, you knew it was coming)...my vote is Robert Duvall...and if you have seen Open Range(I've cut out rated R movies as of late so no chastening needed) you know what I mean.

One thing that must be remembered is that one, regardless of standing with the 12, he did not possess the authority to act as they. My Branch president is in great standing with the current 12, was ordained by them to provide council to those in need, and grew up around those like Truman G. Madsen, and so on. Still he is not a member fo the 12 and issues and ordinances of the Gospel are still handled by the 12, he does nothing out of his mantle of authority within the church, so your "standing" with anyone means nothing unless you have the authority, which the catholic church does not. I appreciate those councils that "founded" the misguided beliefs of God, based on MEN'S theories without the keys to the auhtority of God. But that appreciation is only that it kept around christianity long enough so that the keys and ordinances of the Gospel could be fully restored. I just have one question for Jason, were revelations given to Adam enough to guide Moses's people, would Moses's revelations have been sutiable and exact for that of Abraham, what of Joseph in Egypt. One thing I cannot understand is why people stopped believing in modern revelation. The way I see it, there are only two real choices in this world as far as religion goes...the Catholic Church, or the true one, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I just hope one day Jason, you wake up, it's gonna suck to get beyond the vail and come to the full knowledge that you walked away from Exaltation. And by the way, the only reason I haven't brought up scriptural references against Constantine Christianity is because I would be much more inclined to write a book with the hundreds of passages in the Bible that I have outlined. However, that would be nothing but squabbling with petty believers of untruths, I'm more concerned with building the kingdom of God.

Unfortunately some have misconstrued what I meant. Obviously you need to make the decision. But in the case that one is searching for help in the decision, that is what the Lord is kinda for. All truth comes from the Lord. the "crack" statement was very sophmoric so I won't respond. Let me just say this, I am one who uses medication. Previous to my 18th birthday I viewed medication as something that was a crutch, something only for weak people. My bishop made a very good point, that I now think about. My infirmities exist as a part of mortal tabernacle, everyone has struggles in their lives. The Lord inspired men in every avenue of relief or supression of our infirmities. My bishop mearly stated that medication isn't a crutch, someone was inspired so that myself and others would have the opportunity to deal with our infirmities. I personally have depression issues and chronic anxiety, and I can tell you that it is a blessing that we have the pharmacuticals(not spelled right) to balance the chemicals that may deficient or non-existant, or misdirected. That is all I was saying. Also, my sister has PCOS, and part of the "cocktail" she takes includes birth control, so it has much more use than that of actual birth control. Man will never know anything before the Lord God Almighty.
-
On the same note, there is a rumor floating in my area that a Joseph Smith movie is being made by the same guy that did God's Army and that Val Kilmer is playing Joseph Smith. I'm still researching the validity of it though.
-
That and "birth control"(pills anyway) is also used in other medical "cocktails" to help with female disorders and conditions. I do not believe that the Lord would inspire such a thing if it were not meant to help those in need. The beauty of the original situation proposed in this thread, is that fasting, pondering, and prayer when used in accordance with righteous, honest desires will provide you with the answers needed.

And the adversary has been around longer than the Catholic Church. What is your point??? Time does not dictate position, nor title. Jesus Christ was on the earth for 33 years(give or take a few). Truth but for a moments existance on this earth is still truth. And the principles and ordinances of the Gospel of Jesus Christ have existed as Celestial Law before this world was, so I don't think the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is going anywhere. I guess the only thing left is to see how long it takes you to come to terms with that. 1600 years is but a drop in the pale of the Plan of Salvation. And the Mansion in the House of our Father that is prepared for President Hinckley and his wonderful spouse will far exceed the earthly titles he recieves here from non-members. But nonetheless, a wonderful achievment for a wonderful man, and a wonderful prophet. A modern-day King Benjamin.
-
I know you don't believe in a pre-existance or that we are the spiritual seed of our Heavenly Father, but we are. And being of his substance it makes no sense that all would not be given AGENCY and the ability to exercise that which governs our existance by Celestial Law. That is the first thing that Orthodox Christians do not understand. "Men are that they might have joy." And joy can only come through subjection of the flesh and it's flaws. To insinuate or adhere to the standard that one would be spiritually created without the ability to make a choice as to his opportunity for a tabernacle of flesh is to insist that man has no agency here or beyond the vail. Were Adam and Eve not given given a choice as too eating of the fruit? Was Satan and one third the hosts of heaven not given a choice as to their first estate? Satan does not want us to know, nor believe that we can become like the Father, or have an Exaltation likened unto the Father. He does not want truth, nor the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to fill the hearts of men. When the subscription of foolish "Orthodox Constantine Christianity" is applied, in that instance, for that individual, that group, that organization....he has won(whether for a moment or for the duration of their mortal probation). How can one follow the familiar voice of the Father, if he had not known previous to his journey in the flesh, the presence and love of the Almighty God? We walked, talked, and were loved by him(and still are), it's sad you don't understand that.
-
It's because of Strawman Pro's like the Tanners, and the disgruntled that were still mixed in with the believers that came to the Valley with Brigham.Even at the heart of Mormonism, Satan still has the opportunity to lead astray the hearts of men. With their itchy ears lending trust to Gainsayers, and the foundation of their faith built by the arm of men instead of the Word by which righteous are endowed the mysteries of the Kingdom.
