You baptize mythological figures? Why? Just in case they aren't mythological? Has satan been baptized in the CoJCoLDS's? ~serapha~

Our church doesn't have a policy about it. Various authorities have given their personal stance on it, even Pres. Hinckley. However, it's not in the WOW and I look at it as this.. If you can't go a day without a artifical chemical like caffeine, is it good for you? I drink Coke here and there, but for a while I saw myself falling into the "A day without Coke is like a day without sunshine" category, and knowing my addictive behavior I backed off. No offense Ammon lol

And "you people" can't stop judging us, even for a milisecond. Sheesh!!

no Tr2..YOU disgust me...

How can you interpret that to mean skin color?

I know Peace..my question was aimed at Tr2 :)

So...if you're a Christian..and you have cancer..and God doesn't miraculously heal you, but instead you have to suffer and die..does that mean you weren't as favored or as righteous?? I don't get it

Now I see why people ignore TR2...

Then I guess it doesn't bring that much happiness. Depression is NOT normal, nor natural. If your religion doesn't help you get past your problems then why is your belief system anything special? You suffer the same bad things as everybody else, in fact you suffer statistically more, and then claim that your religion sets you apart and gets you closer to God. It seems like mormons have more problems than the people that they are above. There are mormons on this board who tell us to judge the mormon church by the fruit it produces. Kinda hard to ignore bad fruit like this. No, it's just the irregularly high numbers that people are taking notice of. Depression is a disease..just like cancer..just like diabetes..it's a disease...so if the Mormon Church can't cure cancer, it MUST be false...

Who gives a flipping flying cow if women in Utah suffer from depression and have to take anti-depressants?!?!?! The gospel brings happiness yes, but it's not a cure. I personally don't live in Utah, I dont' have to deal w/ the culture and social pressure that supposedly exists among LDS women out there. I do however suffer from depression, so does my sister and my neice. Good golly almighty do I feel like I'm doing something terrible and wrong because *gasp* I'm a member of the church and *gasp* I've had problems dealing w/ life...oh NO the gospel MUST NOT be true because HEAVEN FORBID we as humans suffer from human nature and go through life experiences that *GASP AND SHOCK* result in depression??? GIVE ME A BREAK... Stop judging Utah..stop judging the WOMEN in utah..and stop judging the church based on something so stupid as anti-depressants...It's ridiculous!!! Christ never said that as followers of His faith we would never be sad or depressed. Anyone who thinks so needs a wake up call. How many MAINSTREAM CHRISTIAN women suffer from depression and have to take anti-depressants? I would guess a high amount. Does that mean that Christianity is false because Mainstream Christian women have to take anti-depressants? Do you see the ridiculous logic here?? Depression got a hold of me when I was dealing w/ hormonal imbalances and the stress of being infertile. I was on anti-depressants for a good year. Yes they helped, they didn't take away from my testimony...but they also took away my "drive" if you know what I mean, and that's a little counter-productive to the goal at hand. I'm glad I didn't live in Utah while I was on anti-d's, or else my self esteem surely would have gone to hell because of all these people judging women for a medication they take. </rant>

your avatar scares me *f33r*

I find it very sad that you have such a dismal perspective of what our church is like. I have heard testimonies like that before sure...from SMALL CHILDREN...Come to MY ward, you'll hear some wonderful testimonies of God the Father and Christ the Son and personal relationships with both parties mentioned above...

no one laughed at my joke *cry* and I didn't know you had to have DNA similarities to be a Mother...Mary WAS Jesus' mother and IS Jesus' mother... ala: If she was merely to be his caretaker on this earth, and not a MOTHER..surely the Lord would have specified the vast difference. I can adopt a child, and not be biologically related, and still be his mother. And let's see how many times the phrase "Son of God" appears in the scriptures (i'm using the Bible only for you Stephen) Wow... FOURTY SEVEN TIMES For not having a Father either, the Lord sure liked to call Jesus His Son... but I digress...

No...Los Angelos...it's much worse *insert rim shot*

Actually the Quran has many similar teachings and doctrines that the Bible has...same idea, different messenger... I don't see it as "counterfeit" I really believe there was a man named Muhammed who wrote/translated/whatever the Koran..I don't think he made it up for his own personal amusement...twould not be MY place to say who God can and cannot speak to and share His message through...sorry Bubba, your weak attempt to marginalize me has failed yet again...

Hmmm...I'm 5th generation LDS and have been through the temple...hmmm...don't really recall anyone officially teaching about a Heavenly Mother...speculation yes...official doctrine? no.. but just in case..let me search the lds.org...11 search results w/ the phrase "Heavenly Mother" there are some quotes from various authorities who briefly mention the existence of a Heavenly Mother, as well as common speculation..out of those 11 results, all of the quotes simply infer that a Heavenly Mother exists...there's no official dogma...there's no secret rituals in the temple where we learn about Christ being the byproduct of a Heavenly copulation.... And I'm sorry, I'm personally offended by you calling our scriptures "counterfeit." I don't go around to other religious message boards and demean their belief system or tell them they're going to hell because they simply believe differently...I think you have a sad and pitiful life if you insist on a sad and pathetic attempt to bring down our church...go to the CF forum, your presence is obviously much more needed there... *walks off in disgust*

I must of missed the Sunday School class where they taught that Christ was a result of Heavenly Father knocking boots w/ a Heavenly Mother that's not even official doctrine....
