  1. Sorry, but we didn't "fallow" you guys into WWII...we were dragged in...remember that little thing called Pearl Harbor? The US involvement of WWII had nothing to do w/ Canada...sorry to burst your bubbleand what Tr2 meant was that THE SUPERMAN was American...ever seen Christopher Reeve in action? and our money is already colored...whoopty doo.... and I'm glad it takes a while for the US to pick a President...that way we don't rush into the decision and regret it later...opinions form and break during the campaign year, and the true nature of the candidate comes out into public... but it still only takes one day to elect him...
  2. I'm sorry Winnie, but you are VERY wrong here. Are you American or are you Canadian? I haven't quite figured this out yet.Bush did not "use 9/11" to stir up patriotic fervor. See, over 3000 Americans died in a horrible, unjustified manner. Our sovereign soil had been tainted with terror. We all sat and watched as one of the greatest cities in the country was torn apart in a matter of minutes. We sat all day, and cried as we witnessed the pure fear shown on every man, woman, and child's face. We mourned for those who were lost, and we grew angry at those who had taken life. We here in the dumb ole' USA tend to become very patriotic when our country is attacked. Pearl Harbor happened and thousands of men enlisted to go fight Hitler and the Japs. I can clearly remember the patriotism surrounding the first Gulf War, and that was a time when our country wasn't in danger. What happened on 9/11 was a defining moment in American history. Bush didn't need to say one word, the men going on television screaming bloody murder and revenge said it all. Every time I turned on the news there would be 10 men or more saying "Let's go get those rat bastards who did this!!" Bush didn't call for this...it happened naturally. And for the record, you claimed that the 9/11 commission completely disproved Bush's "theory" that Iraq had ties to Al-Queda in the planning of 9/11...sorry, that's not what happened...Bush never ONCE claimed that Iraq was responsible for 9/11...he simply stated that Iraq had ties w/ Al-Queda..and even the precious 9/11 report confirms these findings...It's just that the Liberal media likes to twist words... And you know what, people die in war...people were dying in our military long before 9/11 happened. Clinton sent lots of our boys to their deaths...it's called life in the military. If people don't want to die for their country, they shouldn't have joined up. Not one recruiter EVER said "hey you'll have lots of fun and NEVER go to war!" It's a shame that people have to die in war, and I am incredibly thankful to those who have volunteered to die for my freedom. But they are dying to keep that war from coming onto our soil again. I don't quite understand this sentence: Are you insinuating that if the politicians had just let the military go in and "finish the job" that our soldiers would be home by now? Come on now...do a google search and find out how long we were in Germany and Japan after WWII cleaning up the mess...and exactly what do you think the military should have done to "do what it took in the first place"?? Drop a nuke? Do you honestly believe that our military has done a terrible job? My GOSH they're concerned about civilian welfare and don't shoot everything that moves!! How horrible!! It's a no-win situation..if we had gone in and kicked butt and asked questions later..the world would have screamed murder!! But we go in and try to keep civilian casualties and structure desolation to a minimum and we're told we're not doing a good enough of a job!! Before you criticize Bush one more time..please answer this for me: Do you think the world would have been better off w/ Saddam in power?
  3. it's really very scarey when i agree w/ you...lol
  4. perhaps he needs more makeup for his daughters seeing that Este Lauder also received an award... please, it's an award given out EVERY year...stop reading so much into the actions of the President :)
  5. sorry, but that still sounds tame and "safe" compared to other parts of this country...if all you have to worry about is someone skinning your cat...you're living in a pretty safe town....we had a prostitution ring broken up in our MIDDLE SCHOOL....
  6. this above post explains it ALL
  7. you're still here?
  8. oh...well, the entire collector's set of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" is a good place to start..
  9. My eldest brother made his decision when he was 18, he was ex'd over something trivial and stupid..because he had a bad, BAD temper (as do all of us in my family)...he became angry against the church, would try and "show us" what we were doing wrong..then he became liberal..nuff saidlol!! when my father died, all 5 of my siblings upheld the LDS doctrine of the afterlife..my brother paul to this day will not deny his testimony..he, like a few on here, was very offended by the actions of two men at church when he was a teenager...now he has children and is seriously pondering coming back to church...my sister was YW president before she went through a nasty divorce..instead of finding solace at church, she felt judged...she admits that it was nothing anyone said to her, or any way she was treated...she was turned off because the LDS men she looked at for dating were more interested in BYU coeds who were ready to breed...i have another brother David who became extremely active in the church while my brother Jamie was on his mission...he too was offended by the actions of one man at church..so he stopped going...then he fell back into his old habits..he still professes an utter belief in the church, as do all of my siblings (even my oldest brother has admitted that he was wrong...he's just too lazy to think about coming back) as for how my mom feels...She has stated that eternity is a long time...and that she does not know what the outcome is going to be..but she can't judge her children...she just loves them... now...that doesn't mean there's not any good natured arguing when we get together...it used to be about religion...when my oldest brother was so bitter...my mom refused to be in the room for those "topics"...but now he's calmed down, but is still liberal..so you can only guess what the arguments are about nowadays... and our family will still be eternal..even if my siblings aren't doing their best right now...i will always be sealed to my parents...i will always be sealed to my siblings...just because a few stray, doesn't break the bonds of eternity...
  10. tone down the testosterone there buddy...get a life! it was a silly topic and a silly subject...if you really thought you were getting an "r" rated topic, you seriously are in need of some good entertainment in life there mister!!
  11. Everyone is correct...well except Jason You need to be spiritually and mentally prepared for your blessing. You need to talk to your parents, to your bishop, and to your Patriarch..not to strangers on a message board. I got mine at 15...I found it very comforting, but most of it didn't make sense. That was 10 years ago and my interpretation of everything has changed dramatically since then. Truths that I didn't understand before have become beacons of light. This is something that you need to decide on your own...w/ a little help from the above mentioned people.
  12. As the 2nd only active child in my family, I can truely attest that the non-activity and even excommunication of one sibling has had no impact on my family's relationships...sure, my mother prays every night that my brothers and sister will become active once more...but she loves them regardless of their church activity....me brother and i who are active do not look down on the other 4 siblings, we do not try and "save" them..we laugh, have fun, share in each other's lives and occassionally the church comes up and we have a really cool discussion about God and religion...As far as being an "infertile woman" I can personally give you MY experience. I did not feel pressure from the members of my ward, I did not feel any sort of guilt because I was childless. I had support and upliftment and love from each and every member at church. It made my trial easier. Sure, it hurt...it hurt to go to the mall and see women w/ children...made no diffference WHERE I was, it was hard to be around something I wanted SO badly...but the wonderful, wonderful blessing of being an LDS woman who was infertile was this: I received many Priesthood Blessings that promised me that I would be comforted, that I would be a mother in my own time. I also had my Patriarchal Blessing which promised me that I would be a Mother in Zion. I knew that one day I would be blessed w/ a child, I just did not know HOW or WHEN. I had the wonderful option of Church adoption which is much cheaper than traditional private adoption. I even had a woman at church swear up and down that if she ever got pregnant again, that I could have her child. So I don't think being Mormon has ever been detrimental to my health. I was told I would never conceive children, that my only option was either Invitro Fertilization or adoption. Here I am, 11 weeks pregnant and I did it w/ no fertility drugs, w/ no invasive procedures...I was blessed by the power of the Priesthood and had the faith and prayers of my husband and family...and I am now carrying around a miracle. I certainly know that not all women in the church who experience IF will be so blessed, but I've met quite a few who share stories similar to mine...and not one have I met who wasn't thankful for her IF trials...that it brought her closer to God, that it showed her patience, and that it showed the awesome power of faith and healing... I personally think that it all depends on where you live, and what your ward is like.
  13. just letting ya know you need to lighten up is all lol

  16. Don't give up on school, agie. They're spending a boat load of money in hopes you'll someday be able to spell. I have a testimony of that. I know it's true. very mature and SO Christlike Rodney..keep up the good work!
  17. Nickodemus there are certain times when it's appropriate to NOT wear the garments..showering and "marital" reasons are two of them...And you may buy as many pairs as you want. I personally have to order a whole new "wardrobe" now due to my ever expanding belly...:)
  18. how wonderful SF!!! Just know that tomorrow will be one of the happiest days of your son's life and your family MAY be changed, but only for the better...just wait till he brings ya some grandbabies!!!
  19. That is true. There are no consequences here, as there would be in a face to face discussion. The internet is very safe for people who like to insult others freely knowing full well that they will never have to face the person they insult. I know that snow would be much more humble and closed mouthed if him and I ever spoke in person. true...but know this: i call people, friend or not, idiots in person all the time...ROFL...
  20. Sorry, but who is Sarah K? Am I missing something? moi :)
