The Fall of Man and the justice of G-d
Smeagums replied to Traveler's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I won't say where I read this but I did read that eventually God would have told them to partake of the fruit. They partook of it too early. If they would have partaken it when commanded to do so this Earth wouldn't be one of God's most wicked. The Earth would have been in a more Terrestial state if they would have waited. On a different note, I'd like to use the story of Adam and Eve to show how important it is that men do not altar, even with good intentions, God's command at all. God commanded Adam to not EAT the fruit. Adam told Eve that they can't eat OR TOUCH it. God said, and Adam reiterated, that in the day you eat, or touch according to Adam, you'll die. In comes Satan HOLDING the fruit. Eves sees Satan holding the fruit and notices that Satan isn't dead but actually very much alive. This deceives Eve because she previously thought it could not be touched. She believes Satan that it will benefit her to partake and does so. Adam follows Eve in partaking. -

I'm aware of a number of people who read Denver Snuffer's "Passing the Heavenly Gift" and have returned back to Church or have remained active despite previously wanting to leave the Church. -
First relationship struggles
Smeagums replied to pondante's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
My wife and I's parents are both divorced. I don't think that should stop you from marrying the girl. I do think debt should be talked about. She has a debt burden you'll be inheriting. Is the debt from school or does she like to spend lots of money? If the debt was from school, does she have a job that will enable her to pay off her loans in a timely manner, you helping of course, for you to have children? Will this debt burden cause struggles between the two of you because you, her or both of you expected an easier time paying the bills. You should definitely be attracted to the one you love. My advice is don't rush.- 11 replies

I agree with what you are saying. I didn't make this thread to cast judgement on gays. They are human beings who deserve love and compassion etc. Christ suffered for us all. Regardless though, openly bringing homosexual relations, which are abominable, into a Temple by force or choice could very well be the Abomination of Desolation. That is all I'm saying. I'm not here to say my sins are better than yours and so forth. I am not pointing out any specific people but rather a specific type of sin. We are all sinners.
-
Okay, yes they want children but they can't create them. End of story. That's the truth that is a double edged sword. I'm sure there are probably many homosexual couples who want children and would raise them lovingly and kindly. Unfortunately it wasn't in the program for them to procreate. There is a reason for that.
-
I put emphasis on want because I didn't want people, apparently like yourself, who can't have children be offended by what I wrote. You shouldn't be accusing me of not loving someone or a group of people. I gave my opinion about the Abomination of Desolation. Homosexuals choose the life they live like all of us do. They will never be able to produce children with their partners. That's the cold, hard truth. Truth is a doubled edged sword for all of us. A heterosexual couple can usually have children. It is one of the great reasons we came to earth; to procreate. I'm sorry your wife and you cannot have any more children. I am not aware of your situation but I never was talking about good, loving couples who want to have children but can't or who can no longer for some unknown reason. This post isn't about them.

I've thought that the Church should have done this all along. I don't agree that I need a license to be married. What if the state doesn't want to issue the license? The Church does perform civil marriages in the Temple though so they'd have to stop doing this also.
-
@ Gwen I agree with your assessment concerning couples that enter the Temple. I think though the Abomination of Desolation is something more specific. An event. I think it will be when gay couples are allowed, by rule of law, to enter the Temple to be sealed or wed. A couple being married, whether they love each other or not, is not really an abomination. It is unfortunate. Married homosexuals is an abomination because it is unholy. It distorts what God intended for man and woman. Yes, some homosexuals couples treat their partners better than man and woman couples but that doesn't change what they are doing. Two men will never be able to create life. In essence, IMO, they are damning themselves. Same with two women.
-
@ Anddenex I don't see marriages being performed by authority from the First Presidency but rather by coercion from government.
-
I understand that they are not barren but they choose to be so. Yes, a homosexual man or woman can have sex with the opposite sex and conceive.
-
Don't worry. You didn't deny the Holy Ghost like you think you did. One has to be baptized with fire and the Holy Ghost and have the tongue of angels before actually denying it. I think though there are some who'd disagree with me here. You'll be fine.

Spoken of in Daniel and Joseph Smith History... What is an abomination? To make something holy unholy. Homosexuality mockingly makes marriage/love/companionship between a man and a woman unholy. What is desolation? To be desolate. Wasted. Barren. Those who are homosexuals are barren or desolate. They do not want to produce children or offspring. Notice my emphasis on want. Some good, worthy couples cannot have children by no fault of their own. We also know that the generation that sees the Abomination of Desolation occur in the Temple will see the coming of Christ. This is what I think the Abomination of Desolation is. I borrowed these thoughts from someone more intelligent than I. It wasn't my own thoughts but it makes sense to me and I wanted to share it.

Nine Internet Firms Giving Data to Government

My mom works for Uhaul which is out of her home. It isn't a bad gig. She was doing it full time until Obamacare forced employers with over 50 employees to provide them insurance. She can work up to 28 hours. You have to have a computer of course. You simply just take phone calls from potential customers who want to make reservations or who have questions. The schedule can vary immensely and it is always easy for her to give up shifts or take others. Now that I think of it, sometimes they can have more than 28 hours. Good luck to you! They are headquartered in Phoenix. I am not sure if you have to live in the area for employment.

I'm not familiar with PPACA but just know that when government gets involved prices go up. I have to disagree with what I placed in bold and underlined. Technology is far, far superior to what it was sixty years ago and is a fraction of the price. One, of many, example is hard drives. They use to be the size of a dryer, cost a fortune and held maybe 5mb or so. I am not sure on the exact amount of storage so lets say 500mb. Now we have thumb drives that hold thousands more memory for a fraction of the cost.

The free market will always provide a better quality service for a lower price. I am absolutely against ObamaCare. Premiums are already up in exact opposition to what the politicians said. I haven't had health insurance, and do not make large amount of money, for probably 9 years. That's my choice. Health insurance in the 50s could be purchased for $7 a month and covered at most $5,000. People who had heart attacks never needed the full amount. I don't understand why the older folk don't speak up. They grew up during the time when government was very minimally involved but then again people ate better and hospitals were less needed. Call me a "conspiracy theorist" but it is much more profitable to keep people sick than healthy.
-
Among most people I'd be considered a conspiracy theorist. The IRS mess isn't surprising to me in the least bit. In fact it is expected. I believed, before this news came out that they at least targeted good and honest business owners because they want to destroy, absolutely destroy the sovereignty of the United States and small business owners is a large part of it. They want you working for the man (corporation). My friend's father is audited every single year and he is straight as an arrow! Honestly, I don't understand why the media let this news slip. Either the powers that be want Obama out or they are covering from something larger going on behind scenes. Either way, I'd like to see the IRS abolished. We existed ~200 years or so without it as well as without the income tax. Many people tend to cry "but who will build the roads"?! Come on. Just my honest two cents. Sorry to those being targeted by the IRS!

This isn't true. When my wife and I got married it was very hard for us, mainly me, to come to an agreement with money. I conceded because my wife's plan was a superior plan than mine and I am thankful for it. I do believe that it is hard for people to conform on money matters because when someone works, and works hard for it, they do with it how they please. So I understand and say that he can change and an agreement can be made. I was use to doing whatever I wanted with my money, that sounds really selfish, to only having a very small amount of money each month for myself. I am happy and grateful for my wife and budgeting!

I agree that He wasn't perfect because He grew from "grace to grace". Being sinless and perfect are two different things IMO.

Adult son involved in sexual relationship with a minor
Smeagums replied to Torn's topic in Advice Board
I'm all for doing what is right and for people taking responsibility but our legal system doesn't really make it easy for those who have genuinely made mistakes and have subsequently repented of them. Thank the Lord that Christ frankly forgives us! -
I think the most obvious answer is because you can't afford it. The Millionaire Next Door book, I think that's what the book is entitled, did a long study of real millionaires and not people who just made lots of money. They suggested that whatever your income is you should multiple by two and this amount should be the amount you mortgage. Sounds like sound advice.

Adult son involved in sexual relationship with a minor
Smeagums replied to Torn's topic in Advice Board
I find it absolutely crazy that people here would turn their own son in! What great advice! Now he can go register as a sex offender and have his life ruined and every person he comes in contact with or every neighborhood he moves into will think he is a pervert! Being rebellious and fornicating, although very bad, is far different than sexual assault and child pornography! Bravo! This guy isn't a child porn addict. The 16 or 17 year old who wants sex will get it and it doesn't matter to them if their partner is 16, 17, 18 and so forth. Sure this young man is treading dangerous waters but comparing him the way people are is ludicrous. I am sure there are countless relationships of high school couples having sex where one is under the legal age while the other is above it. JMHO -

Why do we, I know I do, think it is the end of the world when our cars break down?
