  1. That is so awesome dude! I am excited for you!
  2. Yeah Hemi...are you passing judgement? Oh well, I guess that really doesn't matter now does it as all us "Mormons" are a gunna burn in hell anyways.....lol.
  3. My mother is a devout catholic and before my fathers funeral she asked me to give her a blessing and she allowed me to consecrate (bless) my fathers burial site. Both my parents saw such a wonderful change in me after joining the church they embraced my religion rather than condemning it. On the other hand a wonderful close friend of mine since childhood has ignored me from day one after I joined the church. He's an evangelical.....go figure.....
  4. No, no....you are confusing Salen, Utah with the capitol of Oregon....Salem Oregon is where the witch trials took place.....geez, take a history lesson!
  5. Yes and the really strange thing is that most of Christendom believes in no further canon, no more scriptures, that heaven is closed etc.. But then again they believe in a Prophet coming in the last days...and if there is a Prophet there must be more scripture, there has to be. I testify that these are the last days and there is a Prophet on the earth and there is additional scripture.
  6. Today we had a record 3 babies blessed and 2 baptisms confirmed! And of course the testimony meeting was a powerful spiritual experience....our High Priest group leader told a tender story of His son serving a mission in So. America and how humbled he was with these loving but very poor families he is teaching who are embracing the Gospel....no unhollowed hand my friends!
  7. Just recently this hymn was the opening hymn at the priesthood session of our stake conference. It's my favorite hymn and to hear it sung by 300+ brethern was a powerful and uplifting experience.
  8. sjdean, I've read the thread and felt I had to throw in my 4 cents (inflation). I think you need to learn more about the Gospel, learn more about the church doctrine and canon. You can't and never will be able to make a decision whether or not the church is true without even knowing the basics which are taught by the missionaries. Invite them back, finish the lessons, ask questions (lots of them) and pray and ask the Father. I know you will see that everything taught will fit nicely together like a giant puzzle. You will come to know that it is the true church. You stated that you were afraid to know more because what if you rejected the the true Gospel....I say I've known many many people who have taken all the missionary discussions more than once, been to church and learned even more of the Gospel in Gospel principles classes and still took years before they entered the waters of Baptism. They were not rejecting the true Gospel during this time....they were searching for it...as you are now. You can't reject something you know little about AND you have to have it first before you can reject it. Look closely at these to scriptures: 2 Peter 2: 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 2 Nephi. 31: 14 But, behold, my beloved brethren, thus came the voice of the Son unto me, saying: After ye have repented of your sins, and witnessed unto the Father that ye are willing to keep my commandments, by the baptism of water, and have received the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost, and can speak with a new tongue, yea, even with the tongue of angels, and after this should deny me, it would have been better for you that ye had not known me. The Lord was talking about those who accepted the Gospel, became members, partook of all the ordinances and covenants of the Temple and then rejected the Gospel in it's entirety. Have no fear you are merely searching for the truth as we all are. Regarding the "lifestyle" changes....to some it can be an easy thing, to others it's hard...either way just making and effort to live up to the standards of the Lord rather than the standards of the world is righteous in His eyes. Godspeed on your journey.......
  9. No...blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is the only unpardonable sin...which is basically one who is a witness of the Godhead and then denies it and fights against it. If Joseph Smith had denied that he has seen God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ and then fought against what he knew to be true then he would have committed blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. This is the same reason the few witnesses to the Book of Mormon never denied what they witnessed despite leaving the church...they knew and could not deny it!
  10. Good article....however it fails to show any scripture at all that says God will stop guiding his children by revelation through a living prophet and the Bible is the end all be all of Gods word.....nothing, no scripture whatsoever. the idea of a "God breathed" Bible is a man made creedal idea...end of story!
  11. Dude...you got rebuked...LOL!
  12. Well, I knew that was coming sooner or later....yep us "Mormons" are a gonna burn in hell! You don't want to learn a thing about the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. You're just like the rest of the anti-Mormons who come here under the lie of wanting to understand. remember...thou shalt NOT lie!
  13. Was this a typo because it makes no sense to me......He is his Father? As far as I know nobody can be their own father and I don't see anywhere in the Bible where Jesus teaches that. He prays to His Father in heaven numerous times, His Father in Heaven said, "This is my Beloved Son in who I am well pleased" to Him and the people present after He was baptized, He asked His Father while on the cross "Why has thou forsaken me?" Absolutely strange concept to me....So, as far as you're concerned Christ prayed to Himself, Talked to Himself (threw His voice), and forsaked Himself...Oh and while in the garden He was struggling with His duel personality when he said to Himself, "Thy will be done, not mine." Ridiculous creedal concept of our beloved Lord....Sometimes I really think...YES, we LDS do worship a different Christ than traditional creedal Christians!
  14. Lost....I'm at a loss here to understand your reasoning. Are you saying that our salvation is guaranteed no matter what as long as we believe in Christ even if we don't repent of our sins? If repentance of your sins makes no difference in the long run then why repent at all? Kind of like a license to sin thing huh? "Hey, who cares if I steal...I'm saved." "Who cares if I commit adultery, I'm saved." "Who cares if I lie, cheat and sin....I'm saved...it's guaranteed!!! Whoopi!"
  15. As I asked Dr T...please, please show me the Biblical scripture that says: "There is no more revelation..The bible stands alone on full athurity and anything added to it or claims to be added to it is not of God" Anything at all in the Bible like that? Anything?
  16. Therein lies the problem with your kind....there is NO controversy between Christians and Mormons as Mormons ARE Christians to the full extent. Meaning: We have what you have in the Bible AND we have further revelation given by the Lord along with restored truths missing from the Bible AND we have additional scripture testifying of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the Book of Mormon which along with modern revelation through a living Prophet of God we have a clarification of Biblical scripture. So, what we have is the FULLNESS of Christs Gospel. And that is something you reject...and that is sad. As soon as you realize that "Mormons" are Christians the better you will be able to understand us "Mormons"! Peace
  17. Really....please quote the scripture in the Bible that supports what you say........that God has given us all He needs to give us or has decided to give us and there will be no more revealed to us.......thanks.
  18. Do you even bother to read the answers posted to your questions?WE do NOT believe we will become God, or replace Him in any way or usurp His authority. He will always be our God, the great I Am, our Father in Heaven, PERIOD! We can however...share in the Saviors inheritance as promised in the Bible....and what has the Savior inherited? Everything God has....including godhood. And before you answer I will answer for you... YES this doctrine is NOT found in depth in the Bible because it is a truth that was lost and has now been restored to us through modern revelation. Accept it or not....but thats the answer to your question of LDS becoming gods.
  19. I am sure glad I don't work in your office...it would drive me nuts to have such a person attacking my faith under the guise of wanting to learn my faith......heck, I'd get frustrated and run too. Now, now.....the Lord loves you, if you read the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants and actually humble yourself and ask God with real intent he'll show you the truth, your eyes and heart will be opened and you not only will be welcomed into the Kingdom of God, you'll be begging to be a member. All souls are worth saving. Give it time.
  20. Now...I am laughing....There is a reason that copying and pasting from anti-Mormon websites is not allowed....because these so called "Christian" authorities have no clue as to what is LDS doctrine or canon is. They do NOT know what we believe or profess. Almost every statement you quote here is taken out of context, twisted or outright wrong! All of these ridiculous statements of "What Mormons believe" have been beaten to death....we could sit here forever actually telling you what we believe, how we worship, what's doctrine etc. but it makes absolutely no difference to you and those like you....because.....deep down inside...you could care less...you are out to save us! WHEEEEEEEEE! Shooo fly, you bother me....................
  21. No, The Prophet Joseph Smith did not teach the man made creed of the trinity because he was shown the nature of God by God...and you speak of the trinity being in the Bible...Well, I have looked and searched and have never once found the word "trinity" in the Bible, nor the phrase "three persons in one." And, I have never found a thing in the Bible that relates to me the creedal nature of God that you worship. Please show me where in the Bible it says God is unknowable? Or perhaps where it says He is a non-essence? Your truths that you have accepted are man made. So, logically speaking, if I cannot find your creedal truths of the trinity in the Bible then it must contradict the Bible. Therefore it must be wrong. The Joy of God runs throughout my life to know that God, our dear and wonderful father in heaven has not stopped guiding His children and has revealed more truths to us through a living Prophet. My heart cries for those who condemn the Fathers prophets and the Lord's revelations to us. Oh, ye of little faith, open your hearts and learn of Him....for He lives and He loves you so!
  22. I agree...I was always taught that a person was given the gift of tongues and interpretations of such for the Lord's purpose only, for His work to go forth. Not for man's use but His.
  23. Hiz....I think it would be better if instead of telling us what we believe (that you have learned elsewhere) to simply ask us if what you have been taught about us is true or not. We can and will be more than pleased to set the record straight for you....so you can really know the truth of what we believe instead of relying on 150 year old anti-Mormon untruths. Okay? I'll start: You say: "To hopefully expose you to the truth that Jesus is the only way to the only Kingdom." We say: We already know the Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. You say: "That you are His forever once you accept Him." We say: Again...we know this, but we also know that in order to keep this salvation gift He has given us we must be worthy of it. You say: "To remind that there is not enough we can do on this earth to earn our way into Heaven." We say: This is true...we all fall short of perfection that's why we NEED Christ's atonement to make up the difference in our shortcomings! You say: "That once you accepted Jesus Christ that you will see Him face and you will not be rejected." We say: Yes, a member of the Lord's church has the opportunity to see Christ face to face....if the Lord wishes it...after all He is God. And logically speaking, if He wished it then why would He reject you? We feel the only time the Lord would ever reject someone is if they did not know Him come judgment day when "the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." (Rev.20:12) Well, according to this scripture I think works are important to your salvation...don't you think? God bless ya!
  24. I absolutely agree.....man relies way too much on so called "scientific proof" and natural man reasoning and always has....heck, 700 years ago the scientists of the time could "prove" the earth was flat!
