  1. Wow....you gotta see this........
  2. Sometimes me and a few of the guys from work will cruise Wendy's for some burgers at lunch and I hardly ever carry cash....well, they won't let you do more than one order through the drive through so I usually pay with my credit card and the others pay me their part of the bill in cash....works for us!
  3. Actually PC these two young missionaries are on fire in the Gospel...it keeps em' warm! LOL! PS: and I see I am only 3997 post from catchin' up to ya....I'm on yer tail...watch out!
  4. Christmas morning is my most favorite time of the year....not the opening of presents, not the magical light in my childrens eyes, not the happiness it brings. No, that all comes later.....right now I'm talking about early Christmas morning. Being awake before everyone else, a quiet time to sit by the lights of the tree and to reflect what this day really has meant to the world. The gift of the Savior from our Father in Heaven...a perfect example of how we are to strive to live our lives so we may return to our Father. What tremendous love He has for all of us....not just LDS, but ALL of us. Here's to all the bright smiles you see today and the joy of family you will have. But, in all else remember, we are all family, brothers and sisters and children of the Most High God. From my family to yours.....May your Christmas be joyous in the Lord!
  5. Word..... One of my callings in my ward is emergency preparedness coordinator....I'd love the link to your website to compare what we have put together......please? Thanks
  6. 90K for a house? 90K wouldn't even buy a garage where I live. You could get a small 1200 Sq. Ft. home for around 300K where I live. Needless to say we rent....have to. And we too also get the annomous cash etc. at Christmas time. It's tough to accept but we look at it as a blessing from the Lord. If you honestly don't need it then start a mission fund for your kids.
  7. Life is...like a box of chocolates.... No wait.....Life is a cereal.... No I mean.....Life is better if you're alive to enjoy it... Yeah....that's it!
  8. I'm a Book of Mormon-believing Christian AND a Bible-believing Christian so what does that make me?BTW...your blog is....interesting.
  9. Congrats to you and the other Dr. T....just think, 2 more after this and you'll have the Mormon average!! LOL!
  10. I absolutely agree with the First Presidency and the 12...Christ gave his life to atone for the sins of all mankind...his whole life from birth to death through his teachings, example and willingness to obey His Father.. But what exactly is the Atonement? Did Christ simply suffer and die on the cross as payment for the sins of the world....many men, women and children have suffered even greater deaths and for nothing at all. Would you go through what you believe Christ physically suffered and his death to achieve an Atonement for mankind? Sure you would, a few hours of suffering and an agonizing death would be a simple act to do if our God asked us. When I was a child and a member of the Catholic church I used to think, "what's so big about dying on the cross? I would die on the cross too for everybody and then get to be God". But after I joined the true church I learned that Christ suffered alot more than just physical suffering and death. He was spiritually seperated from God, He suffered spiritually the sins of the world an act so great that it caused him to sweat blood. And that this happened in the Garden of Gethename. No, the physical side of His suffering and death was really nothing compared to the spiritual suffering that paid the price for our sins. This is what the church teaches, this is what the Prophets teach and this is what I believe. CK...if you disagree with what our Prophet says about the Atonement....you could leave the church and start your own. Maybe call it "CK's interputations of scripture of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints", I'm sure you'll have tons of followers.
  11. CK...I am hurt....do you honestly believe that the atonement only happened on the cross? And that the teaching of the Atonement starting in the garden of Gethsename as taught by Prophets, Seers and Revalators which you sustain is false doctrine? Here are a few quotes from these Prophets, Seers and Revelators which you sustain: “We honor His birth. But without His death that birth would have been but one more birth. It was the Redemption, which He worked out in the Garden of Gethsemane and upon the cross of Calvary, which made His gift immortal, universal, and everlasting. His was a great atonement for the sins of all mankind. He is the Resurrection and the Life, ‘the firstfruits of them that slept’. Because of Him all men will be raised from the grave. (President Gordon B. Hinckley - missionary devotional, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, Dec. 15, 2002). He walks with His disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane, where He atones for the sins of all mankind. As He suffers alone the disciples sleep, wakened by the Savior just before Judas comes with soldiers. (Boyd K. Packer - “His Final Days,” New Era, Apr 2006, 22–27) The Savior’s precious birth, life, Atonement in the Garden of Gethsemane, suffering on the cross, burial in Joseph’s tomb, and glorious Resurrection all became a renewed reality for us. (M. Russell Ballard, “The Atonement and the Value of One Soul,” Liahona, May 2004, 84–87) Two thousand years ago, outside Jerusalem’s walls, there was a pleasant garden spot, Gethsemane by name, where Jesus and his intimate friends were wont to retire for pondering and prayer. There Jesus taught his disciples the doctrines of the kingdom, and all of them communed with Him who is the Father of us all, in whose ministry they were engaged, and on whose errand they served. This sacred spot, like Eden where Adam dwelt, like Sinai from whence Jehovah gave his laws, like Calvary where the Son of God gave his life a ransom for many, this holy ground is where the Sinless Son of the Everlasting Father took upon himself the sins of all men on condition of repentance. We do not know, we cannot tell, no mortal mind can conceive the full import of what Christ did in Gethsemane. And now, as pertaining to this perfect atonement, wrought by the shedding of the blood of God—I testify that it took place in Gethsemane and at Golgotha, and as pertaining to Jesus Christ, I testify that he is the Son of the Living God and was crucified for the sins of the world. (Bruce R. McConkie, “The Purifying Power of Gethsemane,” Ensign, May 1985, 9) Though my personal suffering is not to be compared to the Savior’s agony in Gethsemane, I gained a better understanding of His Atonement and His suffering. In His time of agony, He asked His Father, “If it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt”. (Robert D. Hales, “The Covenant of Baptism: To Be in the Kingdom and of the Kingdom,” Liahona, Jan 2001, 6–9) “We speak of the passion of Jesus Christ. A great many people have an idea that when he was on the cross, and nails were driven into his hands and feet, that was his great suffering. His great suffering was before he ever was placed upon the cross. It was in the Garden of Gethsemane that the blood oozed from the pores of his body: ‘Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink’ (President Joseph Fielding Smith (1876–1972) “It was in Gethsemane that Jesus took on Himself the sins of the world, in Gethsemane that His pain was equivalent to the cumulative burden of all men, in Gethsemane that He descended below all things so that all could repent and come to Him. The mortal mind fails to fathom, the tongue cannot express, the pen of man cannot describe the breadth, the depth, the height of the suffering of our Lord—nor His infinite love for us” (The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson [1988], 14). Christ Suffered and Died to Atone for Our Sins The Savior atoned for our sins by suffering in Gethsemane and by giving his life on the cross. The Atonement Makes It Possible for Those Who Have Faith in Christ to Be Saved from Their Sins The Savior’s atonement makes it possible for us to overcome spiritual death. (Gospel Principles chapter 12) Through the Atonement—performed by Jesus Christ with His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and by His suffering and the voluntary surrender of His life on the cross–He saves you from your sins as you sincerely repent and follow Him. (lds.org - basic beliefs) He was and is the Son of the Almighty. He was the only perfect man to walk the earth. He healed the sick and caused the lame to walk, the blind to see, the deaf to hear. He raised the dead. Yet He suffered His own life to be taken in an act of Atonement, the magnitude of which is beyond our comprehension. Luke records that this anguish was so great that “his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground”, a physical manifestation confirmed in both the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants. The suffering in Gethsemane and on the cross of Calvary, just a few hundred meters from Gethsemane, included both physical and spiritual “temptations, … pain, … hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer,” said King Benjamin, “except it be unto death”. (President Gordon B. Hinckley, “A Testimony of the Son of God,” Ensign, Dec 2002, 2–5)
  12. What's so big about that....if you want I can post a picture of my towns first KFC. Actually it's my towns only KFC. I guess there are not as many chicken lover's in my neck of the woods. We have at least 5 McDonalds, 3 Wendy's, Jack in the boxes, Arby's etc. but only one KFC.
  13. I'd call Bin Laden and ask: Where are you?
  14. Postum is a wood-grain beverage that roughly (very very roughly) mimics the aromatic and blessed flavor of java (NOTE: Faithful LDS are strongly discouraged from meditating on my own ruminations about this particular drink). Before I became a convert to the church I loved my coffee....nothing like a hot cup of gormet java with a little sugar and maybe some cafe mocha french vinilla cream....YUM.....I drank a ton of that everyday...and since I stopped my heart murmur went away. Anyway, after joining the church and giving up coffee I tried Postum.......it was the most discusting tasting garbage I ever sipped...nothing like coffee at all. I have a feeling some really nice Mormon fellows once said "hey lets come up with a hot beverage drink to replace coffe to help the converts"! Trouble is they had no idea what coffee tastes like! LOL!
  15. Oh...he was here last night lurking around reading the board....I saw his screenname here.....
  16. I have no problem answering your questions but first allow me to clear up your misconception....if you are refering to "The Book of Mormon" as the Mormon Bible" then you are incorrect....the Mormon Bible is the King James version. The Book of Mormon is another testiment of Jesus Christ. So please, in the future refer to the Bible as the Bible and the Book of Mormon as the Book of Mormon. Thanks. Now, to your questions, I believe you have to understand just what knowledge the ancient Saints in the Americas knew about the "Land" of Jerusalem and Bethlehem. All knowledge of this was passed down verbally and the tiny suburb of Jerusalem known as Bethlehem probably didn't even exist when they originally came to the Americas so how could they know. Secondly, as a for instance...ask anyone where Disneyland is located and they will tell you in Los Angeles but in fact it is in the small town of Anahiem, or ask where the New York Jets play their games...most will say in New Yok when in fact they play in New Jersey. My point is unless you live in these places you are unfamilar with them. They ancient Saints only knew of the "Land" called Jerusalem...not the city nor the tiny suburb of Bethlehem. This one easily explains itself. All children are born into a sinful world or born into sinfulness. But what is missing through centuries of translation and has been made known to us through the power and gift of God is that children are incapable of sin until they reach the age of accountability which is 8 years old. Does your church teach that babies and toddlers are sinners? And if they die before accepting Christ they burn in hell? Really? Good question....so tell me oh enlightened one....What makes you think that Nephi, Jacob and Joseph were not desendants of Aaron? Or "sons" of Aaron as it were? Oh contrare (sp?) Obiwan....there is mounting evidence of ancient civilizations living in the Americas. I am sure you are an expert in such matters. Please, pray tell....explain just where the Mayans came from? Or the indiginous people of North America? Explain Machu Pichu for us all....please? The Mayan temples perhaps? As far as you other question regarding Temples.....remember after Christ died the Temple was destroyed...but that's another story. But before that happened the Temple in Jerusalem stood...corrupt as it was it was there. But now down to brass tacks.....your question, "Why did the Jews in the Americas build temples when the Jews in Israel believed the temple at Jerusalem was the only true House of God?" The answer.....get ready for it..... Here it comes.......... Hold onto your hat........... because God told them to!!!!!
  17. Is this some type of evangelical judgement thing? I'm really curious because I remember what Christ said: "Judge not lest ye be judged". So, please enlighten me on this whole "Mormons are damned to hell" thing that evangelicals such as yourself profess. Seriously, I mean you must have some kind of secret inside info about the Almighty and how He plans on judging us poor pitiful Mormons. Or are you just assuming the Mormons will burn in hell because they don't believe exactly what you believe? Then if that's the case then you are breaking that whole "judge not" thing that Christ told us about. So, which is it...assumption or God told you so? Absolutely! Christian or not, almost all will recieve glory in the kingdom of heaven...remember what Christ said to the dude hanging on the cross next to him; "In my Fathers house there are many mansions....I go to prepare one for you". Many mansions meaning the three glories of Heaven. You think that dude was going to Heaven with Christ because of his "deathbed" acceptance of Him? No, chances are he will achieve the lowest degree of glory reserved for the wretch of society (but still paradise compared to this world we live in). The dude wasn't going to Heaven right away...he was headed for spirit prison to await the ressurection and judgement. If you study the Doctrine and Covenants and the Book of Mormon you will see that God reveiled all this to us through his Prophets. Which brings up a couple of very important questions I would like to ask you my friend. I know evangelicals believe that only those folks that accept Christ and profess His name and all that are saved and will go to Heaven and everyone else burns....so, what about those that never hear about Christ? Is God that mean and unjust to make them burn because they never had the opportunity to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior? What about all those that lived before Christ was born? Do they Burn? How about little kids raised in the muslim countries or in communist China and the now defunct USSR who died young and never had the chance to hear about Christ? Do they burn too? Is this the God you believe in? Is this the loving Christ you believe in? Again, through study of the Doctrine and Covenants and the Book of Mormon you can learn that God really is a just God and has given all through all time the opportunity to hear and accept the Gospel. Isn't that great news? We know this truth because God speaks to us through a living Prophet and reveils these truths precept upon precept when we are ready to hear them!
  18. Yeah and Hillary's idea of getting a hold of unemployment is creating alot of government jobs...ALOT of government jobs to the point of everyone having a government job...and therefore everyone having government sponsored health care and education and pensions etc.....under Hillary's leadership we might even change our countries name to the Union of American Socialists Republic! Har Har.
  19. If you mean, "What name do I prefer someone not of my faith to call my faith as it pertains to me personally" then I would have to say....either LDS, Mormon or a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. If you mean, "What name would I prefer someone not of my faith to describe my faith as it pertains to me personally" then I would have to say Christian. Or.... I you really mean,"Which of these do you prefer to be called personally if an atheist/agnostic/apatheist approached you" then I would have to pick #4....they can call me Terry or Mr. Dorsey if they prefer. Hope that helps!
  20. Huh? What kind of foolish reasoning is that? It's like saying the WoW clearly prohibits the use of tobacco...but what it does not say whether it includes all forms of tobacco like chewing tobacco, cigar tobacco, pipe tobacco etc.. The WoW says tea is not allowed....ALL hot beverages made with tea...black, green, white etc.. You cannot justify breaking the WoW by drinking green tea just because the commandment didn't specifically say green tea. I'm sorry but your logic is seriously flawed dude.
  21. You don't need to talk to anyone about this....you have already started the repentence process by recognizing what you did...now it's bothering you and you want to rectify the situation. You have to make restitution. The best way to do this is to guesstimate the approximate value of what you took (guess high), then get the money togther, get a money order, make it out to Walmart and send it to the manager of the Walmart you stole from with a letter explaining what you did and asking for forgiveness. Most all will commend you for your honesty. If getting the money is a problem and there is absolutely no way to make any then write the letter anyway and explain to the manager that you have no money or way to make any and you will be doing (X) amount of hours of personal volunteer community service. You could go to a retirement home ot homeless shelter or some other place in need and volunteer. But don't just give a few hours of time....give a few weeks worth at least. Either way, while you're doing this go to the Lord to ask His forgiveness and you will be surprised how wonderful you will feel. Godspeed.......
  22. Blue....10 years? You'll have alot more than that....My ex-wifes sister in law was diagnosed HIV positive in 1989.....she's still going strong today. Magic Johnson was diagnosed 18 years ago...he's still going strong too. Follow your doctors advice to the letter and the virus may just stay dormant and even if it does progress there is still plenty of things you and your Dr. can do....So, 10 years? no way! The Lord will bless you....have faith. In regards to talking to your Bishop....if it will make you feel better to know he knows then do it. You have nothing to be ashamed about....would you be ashamed to talk to your Bishop if you had some kind of Cancer? Be strong, have faith and fight hard...the Lord WILL bless you. Godspeed.....
  23. Christian? I seriously doubt it!
  24. Great story Issac...or should I say great testimony....maybe we'll run into eachother in the Portland Temple sometime!
  25. That is awesome Mad! My prayers are with you guys. And just think a year after her baptism you can take her to the Temple and be sealed forever...so cool! PS: It says you live in Washington...what city?
