  1. I would talk to the parents of the child. This really does sound a lot like autism, especially the violent outbursts. (When my dad was Bish, he had to have a member (well, never baptized) banned from the building after he got violent several times and would act inappropriate with people. Turned out to be autistic. We had one member who's 3-year old was autistic. My sister was nursery leader, and she would take him on walks through the halls when he became agitated. He liked to walk with his on the burlap, and getting him away from the other kids calmed him down.
  2. I can understand your frustrations. But don't let it ruin things for you.
  3. Ah. My bad. Disregard
  4. Eh. My SIL is English, and she and my brother named their son Fox. It's a traditional English name. Eh.
  5. My understanding is that after the second coming, the temples will be open constantly so that all remaining ordnance can be completed. This is referred to as the millennium as it will be 100 years long. After this time period, all who have been born will be resurrected. The resurrection isn't an all-at-once process, but has already started and will end at the ending of the millennium. The church does ask that only direct descendants of Holocaust victims and other well-known people do their work.
  6. My Grandpa always says you're only as old as you act. He's 84 but looks and acts like he's 60. His second wife was 12 years older than him. They had a great marriage. Had one fight in the 40 years they were together. As far as the missionary, don't sweat it. I had a crush on one of the sisters serving in my ward here. (I can't stand the Singles Wards here in Florida. College Park ward especially...) But anyways, I knew she liked me as well. Happens. We kept things appropriate, never alone g together, ect. A *little* flirting. But, after I met my Gf/Fiance Sarah, The sister was gone from my mind. It was funny to watch them meeting each other. Never seen a missionary give such a dirty look.
  7. That's also acceptable. Or I could have my Fiance learn to can bacon, but that would be too practical.
  8. as far as I know I've never posted this here. My group did this skit at YSA Conference last July. SO much fun to act out.
  9. Marry Me.
  10. Pick something that is uncommon, but can be shortened to common. Example is my Fiance and I have decided to name our second boy Jackson Lee (a very southern name) but call him Jack for short.
  11. yeah, it is up to the person presenting, but youth leadership training always seemed to encourage the same old song and dance.
  12. It's not that Children can't sin, it's that the atonement automatically "covers" their sins, in a metaphorical sense. (read Moroni 8) In fact small children can act in ways that they should not. Have you never seen a small child steal? It's none less sinful in and of the act it's self; however, the children are not accountable for the action for they have "not the law given them." But sin does begin at an early age:
  13. thanks y'all. I'm a southern boy at heart so I have always had a fondness for trucks and 4WD, but they do tend to be more expensive, which is something to consider living off student loans.
  14. no. im just done arguing over this.
  15. again: if you say so.
  16. uhm, judo was incorporated a long time ago. True parker kenpo actually holds up quite well but it not good for tournaments because one of the things we train for is disabling through injury, we don't use submissions. by indstructor Bob trained special forces for a while actually. shad a lot of old stuff from the training before his crazier ex wife ran off with it...
  17. Well again, it's important to realize that any training will give you an advantage, but the Gracie themselves never wanted anything to do with Parker. No one ever touched Kenpo until after he passed, at which everyone decided they knew how to "improve" it and ended up removing pretty much everything that makes it work. I have an advantage in that I have a short line to Ed Ed Parker -> Frank Trejo -> Bob Fitzgerald -> me So What I am learning is still largely unaffected by others. I should add that Parker included Judo into Kenpo, but it isn't discussed until one had mastered the "striking" aspects of fighting.
  18. But Kenpo isn't the same as what it taught as "karate" today. Ed Parker never wanted to have belt system or have tournaments. It wasn't until he graduated from BYU and moved to LA that he realized how much traditional Martial Arts don't work in street fights and from there set out to develop a system that WOULD work in street fights.
  19. If you say so. If you say so.
  20. I'm moving to Rexburg later, and I will be buying a car once I get there. I've been in snow before, but I've never driven in it. Is it necessary to have a 4WD/AWD car for snow driving?
  21. Okay I lied, I'll try and clarify what I meant I wasn't in youth program too long ago, (I graduated in 2008) and I served as a youth leader afterwards; I was called to YSA leadership almost a year ago. I've seen both sides of it. I do feel sometimes things should be presented in a way more relatable, and sometimes thins should be said/presented in an entirely different way. I feel like the program it's self is too focused on teaching rules and not principles. Modesty should be taught as a system of respect, not what you should and shouldn't wear. Repentance should be taught as more than just a four/five step process, which is what my first comment was specifically about. After reading this young woman's post, I felt like she hadn't been properly taught repentance and chastity. She was taught a list of rules instead of principles, and reacted to the rules. Someone of her age is capable of understand the principles if it's presented in the right way. Which, the new youth manuals actually do a good job of that I feel...
  22. I've never been a fan of BJJ. I've seen a lot of flaws in fighting systems that have rules as far as street fighting goes. Yes, it works against those who haven't trained very long in anything. I've done Ed Parker ( original) kenpo for a while, about 6 years are so. All fighting systems have some effectiveness, but not all are equally effective.
  23. I disagree. God's 'work and glory" is our exaltation. His laws are based off infinite eternal principles and laws. when we violate those, we violate the very laws that we must understand to gain all that the father has. His will isn't actually that hard to understand when it comes to this...
  24. -facepalm- you really are just reading what you want from my words. I'm gunna just leave you alone. NO point in this whatsoever.
  25. Interesting question indeed. It's most certainly interesting that it's a schedule-I narcotic, even though it fits more with schedule-III. There has never actually been any evidence to show THC causes addiction or any serious damage to the body. There is some research that shows smoking pot can cause cancer under specific circumstances; however, many legal narcotics such at Naproxen (Aleve), Ibuprofen, and Aspirin can cause serious digestive issues, even without being abused. Acetaphetamine causes serious liver damage. Hydrocodone, Oxycontin and similar narcotics are HIGHLY HIGHLY addictive. Why are they legal to use for medical purposes but not THC concentrate? I'm not saying recreational use should be allowed under WoW, but legit medicinal use would seem to better qualify under WoW than say Vicodin or Lortabs, which are okay to use under the WoW...
