Glad to here it - I have nothing against your friend.... we'll other than he is "your" friend - as you don't seem like a very nice human. Nonetheless.... he is a smart guy. And obviously talented to work his network that quicky.
-
I will be sure to pass your suggestion on to him.... Your pithy trollish response notwithstanding..... I am pretty sure he already has his resume, and networking system, in working order. His only problem is this is going to happen so fast, with a bit of a stigma attached to that employment, that finding a quick and similar job in pay and stature may be difficult..... unless he is jst that really good at what he does. He might want to better research his potential employer in the future however.

I'll share one...... my daughter being a little athlete in a boy dominated sport has had a 'lot' of boyfriends. But they were just that.... boys who were friends. Though a lot of those boys very first crushes were on Reni. Tonite, for the first time Reni mentioned she had a crush on a boy. She said, "Dad I want to tell you something, but promise not to laugh". I said okay, she said, "I have a crush on ****. I didn't laugh. This boy is a handful (family situation), but he is smart, and his heart is in the right place. It was always fun with the boys who had a crush on her..... they were just little kids. But now her hormones are starting to kick in, it becomes a little different. Lucky me pretty much every kid in the Junior High is scared of me..... and her (she pinned the boy she has a crush on in wrestling in about 15 seconds).

This one, like Michael Vick before him, deserves it. Occasionally the media gets one right. I suggest your friend start looking because this guy will be gone soon.... really soon. And it won't be the media that does him in, it will be his own party.

While the press does a LOT of what you say..... this one convicted himself, and then continued to do so with his press conference yesterday. This after a life time of being a social Conservative. He has now had all his important Committee assignments stripped, and frankly his party is PO'd in a big way. As they should be, and kudo's to them for throwing him under the bus.

There is a broader consideration for the welfare of others when it is part of your belief system. I ahven't really seen much of that on this thread. As for me, I think I pretty much live that way with the 'stuff' I do. Even if I am mostly discouraged with the general humanity of the country I live in. It's a pretty country though with lots of stuff to do and see, so I hang around anyhow.

The difference in treatment lies in the hypocrisy involved. He was an active participant of the religious right.... on the front lines as it were.... with the rumors out there.... and then he gets caught for the hypocrite he is. It isn't just the liberal press on this story. I doubt the Idaho Stateman is a liberal rag, and they have been on the Craig story long before this. He is compounding his lies and deciet by continuing to proclaim innosense when the case against him, both real (that sting was well documented), and anedotal, is pretty strong.

checkerboy - I am a single dad of a girl aged 11. Her mom is an addict/alcoholic so I basically have had full and sole custody for almost three years now. And all the functional responsibility for a year before that. I am not religious (lifelong story) so I will stay out of that part of your concerns. Every kid is different and you know your kids best. But we as parents don't know everything. So we ask for suggestions, and many come. In this case some good suggestions have been given. It is up to you - knowing your children - to decide which one might best work for your kids.... or the ones to attempt.... and the ones that probably aren't a good fit for your children. This all being the hard part of parenting. Otherwise, if you just want to vent, share experiences, or issues that perhaps some of the 'moms' might not get, I'll be happy to be around.

I looked it up. It's Methodist. And I agree.... it is sad.
-
I think Craig is a Methodist.
-
I would guess that Sen Craig will not be seaking re-election.

Considering Idaho’s Larry Craig on the issues: * Voted YES on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. (Jun 2006) * Voted NO on adding sexual orientation to definition of hate crimes. (Jun 2002) * Voted NO on expanding hate crimes to include sexual orientation. (Jun 2000) * Voted YES on prohibiting same-sex marriage. (Sep 1996) * Voted NO on prohibiting job discrimination by sexual orientation. (Sep 1996) This does give one pause..... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...ml?hpid=topnews

the ogre - Massachusetts has something. California is working that way. It doesn't have to be federal. Maybe state by state. But I would think it should be something. I am seious when I say my views.... I guess I am becoming a bit of a nihilist. But there are many who really want to live and are really really scared.
-
I can't afford a physical (it is a long story that I won't bore you with). Those things a expensive when you don't have insurance. And the kid comes first. It's a calculated risk. What do you care anyhow? I sure as heck don't care what might happen to you.
-
Huh? Oh I see. You are trolling me now. Hey.... if I annoy you to much please invite me to leave anytime. I'll go. I already know the regulars can't take me for long. If someone can't work, is disabled, has no or limited or low income, then yes, there should be a public health program available for their needs. All of their medical needs, not just some of their needs, which is the way Medicaid and Medicare are set up now. Again, these are federally based programs, which should be totally under state jurisdiction. Good idea. Maybe I should just quit working and go on the dole for awhile. That way I can have health care.
-
I believe and know there is part of a culture out there that does care about people....but I don't recall the test being whether they would toss everyone free healthcare.... Your "blow off everything I have had to say so far" with a pithy one liner, sort of makes my point. People say they care.... but when they can cavalierly dismiss 30,000,000 or more people under the gun.... then that is just lip service. I find it ironic you would call me to task when you take a similar position as me. Stuff happens. People die. Some of them needlessly..... so what? If it is in fron to of you, you might care. But otherwise it is just a stat. I am cool with that. You seem to take offense with it, but accept the reality nonetheless. At least I am being honest.
-
That is the way I think our entire nation is as a culture. We can cavalierly put 30-40 million people under a financial gun, and even survival gun, without much concern. I am just a product of my environment. You have to understand..... I have worked with inmates, at risk kids, and I know dang well what people think about them. There is no compassion. You like your own. And perhaps what is in front of you. But the rest can die. Or be raised in abyssmal environments later to end up in prison. If you don't care about them...... why should I care about your pet "thing"? I used to care. But y'all won me over.
-
And if somebody like me (but who actually cares) dies as a result..... no problem. People die all of the time. Stuff happens. That is my general attitude as well which is why I don't sweat the abortion thing either.
-
I simply don't "get" why you think I have no compassion if I don't want to pay higher taxes, or pay for other people's health insurance. Can you clarify that for me, please? Because when you hit a certain age it becomes a life or death situation for those who worry about such things. I could have prostrate cancer, a heart condition, or any number of treatable conditions, that aren't getting diagnosed, that hit people my age all of the time, but I'll never know until it's to late, because I can't afford it. Like I said; I don't give a crap. A lot of other people worry about such things though. People with families and children and so forth. It is their lives that are at stake. Hence the reason I suggest you have no compassion. Sure, you care if you read a well written tragic story, or see something is right in front of you. But others...... those 30-40 million uninsured.... and the others lost in a fairly tough society..... well you don't really see them..... you don't really care..... they are just numbers on a paper.... and not real people. And guess what? If I were to kick off because of something like that, or get a huge bill, I'm not paying it. And there is no such thing as debtors prison for anything other than taxes. And if I die..... now society gets to use a lot of taxpayer money, to help whoever gets my kid. But that is a calculated risk the government takes. It figures it is cheaper to gamble that folks like me won't die, then it is to insure everybody, and pay out for those that don't make it. It's kind of morbid.... but businesses do those calculations everyday (sometimes it doesn't work out as with the Pinto). FWIW, when folks decide to have an abortion, because they don't want to, or not ready to, bring a child into this world..... I am on their side. This is a great and powerful nation, but a pretty much dog eat dog nation as well. I can see why they might not want to do so. Crap, it's hard enough even if you want a kid, if you don't this society doesn't care much for them when they are born, so I figure they are better off not being born.

The Hulk is mine.

No I don't... I already told you I don't worry whether I live or die. I've lived my entire life in a way that I have cheated death countless times. It is not an issue with me. But I do get your point.... you don't care if a single dad dies. It is our heritage. It is our collective culture. It is what we are. I am cool with it. You on the other hand seem to be annoyed with the characterization.
-
If you haven't already gotten my point then I am guessing you won't. It doesn't matter..... if I die then I die. It's no big deal. Seriously. If I don't care I wouldn't expect anybody else to either.... it is part of my heritage.
-
I dunno about that..... two hit sitcoms, and perhaps another one starting right now.
-
ever think of the families out there struggling to get by and would like more of their money....instead of paying higher taxes.....seems like thats always the first thing we turn to in this country...lets raise taxes..... See, just as I said... no compassion.... money trumps potentially life or death situations.
-
Sometimes I wonder if the people opposed to taxes being used for health insurance for all Americans are even aware of how many families there are who simply cannot afford health care and are merely pay checks away from financial ruin. For the most part they don't really care. That isn't their problem. Those two cars in the garage is more important. This nation is a lot of things, but outside of a catastropy, compassion isn't really part of our national psyche. This can be shown by the health care issue, the number of abortions we have, how callous we are to those who are born into abyssmal situations, and how many people we lock up.
