  2. That is right everyone listen to Siouxz because if she don't like you then chances are I won't either but you can always give it a try. Thanks Siouxz for being a good friend. Bye the way the box of chocolates must have detoured cause I am eating them right now.
  3. Well I see most of us have migrated over here. I am checkerboy, many have wondered why checkers and that is because of the ultimate contrast that the checkerboard pattern creates. The ultimate conflict of light and dark, good and evil. I also think it looks pretty cool. So I am an almost divorced dad of two boys, Josh is 6 and Peter is 4. My life is a mess right now but they help me stay sane. I only get to see them a few times a week but I make the most of it. We like to play Xbox and Josh is getting better at Halo, see I am teaching him early to be a survivalist. I grew up in Sunny San Diego and don't know why I am not back there, oh yeah smog, pollution, and too many people. Not to mention outrageous housing costs. So I am now in Idaho and I actually like it here but not winter. I freeze. So I graduated from Boise State in graphic design and have been applying myself by designing signs here in Idaho Falls. I ultimately one day would like to teach art cause I think I am a good teacher. As far as what consumes my time that would be playing and listening to music. I have a kindred spirit here as far as musical tastes go, which is bizarre cause I like some weird stuff. But really it comes down to if the music makes me want to kill myself then it is alright with me. I am really not crazy, really. But just so you can experience the joys of self loathing here are a few good bands: Joy Division, Bauhaus, The Cure, The Smiths. I love to play my bass and write my own stuff from time to time. I always wanted to be a rock star and came the closest when I was at Ricks College. I got to play for like 400 people. Yea!!! I am also an artist and would like to sell my work so someone go buy something. The site is www.rjh-art.com. I try to be different in everything I do. And yes that is my son Josh in a couple pics. He makes an excellent model. I am currently taking applications for a new wife so if you are interested then let me know although I won't be conducting interviews until I am finally released from my current position. Other then that I am open to meeting new people and having stimulating conversations. They didn't sound as cheesy in my head.
  4. Yeah this one is called Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division. Interesting because most of the women I have ever been with have left me, I tend to be too devoted to them and maybe my love really has torn us apart. When the routine bites hard And ambitions are low And the resentment rides high But emotions wont grow And were changing our ways, Taking different roads Then love, love will tear us apart again Why is the bedroom so cold Turned away on your side? Is my timing that flawed, Our respect run so dry? Yet theres still this appeal That weve kept through our lives Love, love will tear us apart again Do you cry out in your sleep All my failings expose? Get a taste in my mouth As desperation takes hold Is it something so good Just cant function no more? When love, love will tear us apart again
  5. Ever heard of the Proclaimation on the Family Jason? Good words that are scripture whether they are canonized or not. As for you, you're just a jerk that seems to get his jollies from antagonizing others that won't try and fight with you. Get a clue buddie not everyone has to study night and day to understand truth. This scripture reminds me of you: "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." - 2 Tim. 3:7. Lead captive any silly women lately?
  6. All ready lots of good advice given. I am getting divorced after 8 years so I kinda know what you are going through. The stuff that is helping me actually has been all of you guys. Coming here and talking to real people cause like you I've got no friends here and for a while I didn't have a job so it was easy to become bitter and mope about. I really got into excersizing and getting back to things I enjoyed when single, like playing my bass and painting and definetly socializing. It is good that here there are people that I can talk to and they listen and empathize. I haven't ventured into the real world of dating yet cause I am not ready but coming here is preparing me for that as well as taking my mind off all the things that I lost. There are still mornings that I don't want to get out of bed but now having a job and a better relationship with Heavenly Father helps me through those days. Hope some of that helps and if you ever see me in the chat room don't hesitate to say hi.
  7. Like I said I don't have to defend my testimony to anyone. I simply express it. You seem to be on the defensive. Have we pricked your conscience? You don't have to believe me but I know because I have received answers to my prayers from my Heavenly Father. I choose not to cast my pearls before swine. If all you want to do is attack someones belief then I think there are other sites that you would be more welcome in. I have followed quiet a number of your posts. You are very intellegent. But I will not be pulled into a shouting match about what Paul said 2000 years ago. I know what I believe and whether you accept that is your problem don't try to make it mine.
  8. Pretty pathetic Jason. No one is under obligation to argue with you or the things you post. Das has every right to state his opinion and not have the likes of you degrade him for it. I have a testimony as well of celestial marriage and just because you don't agree and try to use the words of Paul doesn't mean that I am wrong. I know I am right and I don't have to prove myself to any mortal being. I don't mind that you disagree, but no personal attacks please.
  9. Thanks for all the advice. I would like to keep this open for sharing, venting, etc. like sgallan said. So post any new experiences that would help us dads. Thanks again.
  10. I was listening to a local talk radio show and since I live in Idaho this was huge here. A caller said something that I know some of you wont like but I agree with. She said that perhaps Sen. Craig struggles with homosexual tendencies but knows that that lifestyle is wrong. Because of that he is not being hypocritical by voting for, to be blunt, anti-homosexual legislation. If you had a drug addiction that you know was wrong hopefully you would still support DARE and other legislation to keep drugs off the street. Being an addict is not a crime, nor does it make one hypocritical. Now the fact that he is acting on these impulses leads me to believe he has an addiction because who in their right mind would solicit sex being in a position that he is in.
  11. Hi I am a single dad of two boys, ages 4 and 6. I was just wondering if there are any other single dads out there that would like to get together and talk about problems and solutions. I don't have a set custody with my children yet but I do get to see them a few times a week. What are things you do to keep close to them? I try to call them every night around their bedtime. My ex is not very active in the church and I get to take them to church a lot of the time. But my oldest doesn't like to talk to me about things like his school or his Primary class. Is there something I can do to help him open up to me? Any way any thoughts would be appreciated
  12. No, they are usually a leading character who sometimes behaves in a less that noble fashion. Clearly Ed Decker or Darth Vader would be villains rather than anti-heroes. I beg to differ. If you watch all six star wars movies in order then you see that the main character of the films is Anakin Skywalker. It is his story and by becoming Darth Vader he becomes the biggest anti-hero of all. The villain of the star wars movies is clearly the Emperor.

  14. I actually came here because I am lonely. I like to meet people. I am going through a ton in my own life and feel like I can relax here. Thanks for asking.
  15. Just curious why certain people come here. I am not trying to be rude or offensive but I am curious why people of other faiths or of no particular faith would come to an LDS website. It is interesting to hear your points of view and I have no problem discussing things with you all. I guess I wonder because for myself, I wouldn't go to another faiths website and become an active participant. Although I have gone to other faiths services and wouldn't mind going again if I had the opportunity. Again I am not trying to offend I am just really curious. If you aren't LDS what made you want to come here and join us?
  16. I don't think that there is any church that would not accept you, including the LDS. Because repentance you can be forgiven. I would take the opportunity to talk with the bishop in the ward you are currently living in and see what he has to say. I have a brother that did time for sexual offences and he now has a temple recommend and has been sealed. Only you can keep yourself away, the church will welcome you back no matter what your circumstances.
  17. I have felt for a long time that the party system is not a good thing. I feel like that if a candidate wants to run for president he shouldn't have to play party politics. Look at our very first election, there were no parties. A bunch of people ran on what they believed in, not what the party believed in. Get rid of the primarys and just let everyone who qualifies run. Now the only problem I see with that, though, is that we may have no one take the majority of electoral votes in which case do we really want Congress to choose our president?
  18. ATTENTION ATTENTION THREAD INTERUPTION--------------------WARNING WARNING WARNING snow, I would be very carful about using the statement that the Bible doesn't speak clearly about a subject. As the Bible is silent on pre-exsistnce,etenal progression and baptism for the dead----just to name a few of lds beliefs without a Bible based foundation. now back to the tread------and yes I'm having a slow day Actually the Bible does speak to those three that you mention. In Jeramiah God says "before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee" - pre-mortal life. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians speaks of the three degrees of glory. He also talks about baptism for the dead in the same letter. Now I know that most people don't consider any of these to mean what they actually do but that is because misguided individuals try to promote their philosophies insted of actually taking time to study and pray about the truth of these principles that were clearly apparant to the early church.
  19. Hey I just wanted to put in my two cents. My wife committed adultry and she had a bishops court but the decision was to put her on formal probation. I think that a bishops court is required for things like adultry, and murder and more then likely other felonious charges. But the decision is made after the court meets. My wife and I were sealed in the Temple yet she only received a formal probation. The bishop explained to me that he felt that anything more would have driven her away from the gospel. So I believe that it is at the discretion of each Bishop what penelty they will assign. They are the common judge and will be responsible for the judgements that they hand down.
