  1. That was the tribe of Benjamin.
  2. Gaia I love how you can take a great topic like motherhood and put a negative spin on it. I challenge you to respond to ANYONE's post where you don't try to destroy the OP's position. Try using positive words for a change.
  3. Thanks so much for all the things that have been shared. Most of you know who it is that I am trying to forgive. For those that don't, my wife and I are getting divorced and I am having a hard time forgiving her for the things she has done to bring this about. I pray for her every night and have got to a point where I don't want to strangle her every time I see her, but I know that I am still bitter and am really wanting more peace in my life. I will try those things that you have all suggested. Thank you.
  4. I think we will have something better then blood cause you know the blood drains and then it ain't eternal anymore.
  5. I have to agree with the Jason, (this is getting scary) but the truth is the best. If you don't want them to pity you say my husband has made the decision not to come to church right now. If they ask if there is anything that they can do to help simply tell them to pray for him. But be honest. You don't have to go into detail about why he stays home. But maybe this will motivate him as well if he knows that you aren't going to cover for him any more. I have to say that I don't feel at home in my ward either. I have been there three years and I don't have any friends there. There are guys my age, but we don't have anything in common. So I go and listen and politely say "How are you" and "Gee that tie is nice," the usual and then leave feeling more enlightened by the spirit that I have felt. Do I wish that I had friends there, you bet. But just because I don't doesn't mean that I won't still go. Hope that helps.
  6. Ok my question is How do you know when you have forgiven someone? I know we often hear it asked how do you know when you've been forgiven, but I am having a hard time with forgiving someone. I try not to be bitter and I pray every day that I can forgive but what steps have you all taken when you have had to forgive someone and how did you know that you had. Obviously having them accept your forgiveness isn't necessarily required to forgive but what things have you done to know that you could move on with your life knowing that you had done what was required of you? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. I love how this thread has now become about resurrected bodies and whether or not we will have blood. If you change the topic start a new thread!!!!
  8. I have to ask Do either of you love each other? Because the situation that you have described sounds like you are roommates. When I married my ex I knew she had a daughter from a previous marriage. I knew that even though she didn't have primary custody that I was gonna have to take care of her when she did stay with us. I realized that whether or not my wife worked I would still have to take care of my family. Sounds like this guy is a creep. Just because he bought you a bunch of stuff doesn't mean you owe him anything. Why are you still expected to support your children when you now have a husband? I say drop this guy fast there are much better guys out there. I like to think that I am one of them.
  9. K I am confused cause Siouxz has claimed to be from California so how does this all work?
  10. You've got to remember that Joseph Smith didn't have very much formal education. Also you have to remember that interpretation is never word for word. Joseph simply used wording and phrasing that he was used to, namely from the Bible. He wasn't a writer. He hadn't writen anything before. If you compare the text of the Book of Mormon to the Doctrine and Covenents you see a huge difference in the "diction." The D&C was writen directly as the words came from his mouth from God, whereas the Book of Mormon is a translation.
  11. So my question, which is probably a stupid one, but where is Old Zealand? I am assuming that the name came from the British, right? Anyway I have always wondered that.
  12. Well I have been checking here every evening and so far no one has shown up. Come on people let's get this thing up and running!
  13. Hi Mad,I think I read everything, and it was interesting as there were things I wasn't aware of before. I do have a question about the above quote. It's my understanding that people who are not married/sealed on earth will still have a chance to do so in the CK. Therefore they won't be ministering angels, and will be eligible for the highest level of the kingdom. Do you disagree? Thanks, Elphaba I have heard mixed reviews on this, I am not exactly sure but i lean towards the scriptures on this because of the bit about "they neither marry nor are given in marriage" when describing the afterlife. It could be in regards to those who had the chances in the marry but refused, and that the people who honestly tried but could not get married for one reason or another. I believe God is merciful on his children and will give them the opportunitites they never had here. I wonder what will happen to me being as I was married and am soon (or maybe not so soon the way things are going) to be divorced. It wasn't my choice to get divorced. But if I never marry again (oh the horror) what camp will I be in. Oh wait... I guess it won't matter unless I am already worthy to go to the Celestial Kingdom. I'd better get working on that.
  14. Well after multiple attempts I cannot post this pic but here is what it says on the sign.
  15. It is a picture of a SIGN that talks about the American Elephant that I took on my mission. Let me dig around for it. Well I can't for some reason upload the picture but I will post it on my profile page, if anyone is interested. I'm not gonna keep it there forever though cause I have a gorgeous pic of myself that I have to take down for this to go up and because we all know how vain I am...
  16. I have a photograph of a sign at the Ft. Worth zoo that talks about the American Elephant that lived until about 600 AD I believe. Now I know that isn't a great source but I am sure that they wouldn't have posted it if it wasn't somewhat accurate. The American Elephant was significantly smaller then the African or Asian elephant, though I am sure that its capacity as a work animal was still great.
  17. I just wanted to ask about this paying on your gross thing. I have heard that and done it at points in my life. Right now I pay on my net though and here is my reasoning: We are to pay tithing on our increase. I am not receiving all the money I make, some of it goes to medicare, some to social security, some right into the pockets of greedy politicians, you get my point. I pay tithing on my increase and when I get money back in taxes I pay tithing on that. When I actually start receiving social security I will pay tithing on that. So am I wrong here?
  18. Yeah thanks for the soap box speech. Really what did that have to do with secret combinations? I get tired of hearing your rhetoric. I believe strongly in the constitution but don't appreciate other people telling me that I support secret combinations. Give it up. It is great that you are so patriotic. Don't judge me or anyone else to be in lockstep with the secret combinations of this world because we don't stand on our soapboxes with you and yell from our rooftops.
  19. Pam you took mine. I think the monkey joke was the funniest I have ever heard in my life. You have to make sure you say the punch line very matter-of-factly.
  20. Only Melchizedek priesthood holders administer temple ordinances. With the exception of the initiatory which is done by females for females. Sealings are performed by special men given the sealing authority of the priesthood.
  21. Which church were these elders from because they certainly shouldn't be saying things like that if they are LDS. We know that God, Jesus and the HG are three seperate people with bodies (spiritual and physical) of their own.
  22. I agree. My first pick would be Elder Holland, then Elder Oaks. And I want to see another foreign born apostle that would be cool.
  23. Just thought I would add my story. My ex decided at one point that wearing garments was also too restrictive. So she bought herself some regular underwear and since that time has had an affair, stopped going to church and filed for divorce. I am NOT saying that that will happen to everyone that decides to forego wearing their garments but they are a reminder of the covenants that we made. As a side note I was very uncomfortable with the bottoms that I had been getting for a long time cause I am shorter in the waist area. Then I found that they have a short size which is great. So I experimented a little until I found the perfect combination.
  24. Most definitely tree-house. Chocolate or vanilla?
  25. I like how this site is called LDSTalk yet for some reason a majority of the threads are dominated by those who are either former members or not members at all. And a lot of the topics seem to be about things that most LDS could care less about. I know that for me I just care about the things I need to do to get me into heaven. Don't get me wrong or misquote me, wink wink, I don't have anything against non-members (or members for that matter) coming here and putting there two cents in but when it is blatent that the only reason they are doing so is to illicit some sort of controversial response then I think it is time to take our boards back. If you want to come here and learn something about the church then welcome, if you want to come here and muck up controversy then I would kindly ask that you post somewhere else. There are forums here that are meant for this kind of controversy. Maybe we can move this there so at least I know what I am getting into if I choose to read.
