Has Lds Talk Had A Positive Influence On Your Life?
Lonasunde replied to Heather's topic in General Discussion
I love LDS talk. It's always fun to meet new people, especially all the amazing people here. This site has helped me think more about my beliefs and my relationship with my Heavenly Father. It's also helped me to share my testimony and think more about that as well! Thankyou everyone for being so amazing! -
If anyone would like to supply a spiritual story or their testimony I can share with my seminary class, I would appreciate it.
-
The person below me can speak more than one language.

I decided to put this in the youth board because I am a youth and I think it would be cool to hear from other people around my age about what they believe. On Friday, I challenged my seminary class to share their testimonies with someone, so I guess I'd better take my own challenge. I really struggled when I was younger with knowing whether or not I had a testimony. I couldn't conciously accept what I already knew in my heart. I think I struggled because I didn't have any sense of self worth. I didn't see how there could be a God of Everything who could still love Me. For Myself. It took alot of time and a few Very patient friends, but now I can say I Know my Father in Heaven loves me. I know that he exists. I know that Joseph Smith was called by him to restore His true church upon the earth. I know that Christ is His son. He is my older brother, my supreme example, my role model, my Savior and King. He made it possible for me to attain celestial glory. He loves me So much that he was willing to bear my pains. I'm so Grateful to Him. I love my Savior with all my heart. I have a testimony of Gratitude. I didn't fully realize how thankful I am for some things and some people until Brother Read challenged us to say thank you to some specific people in our lives. I love writing thank you notes to people! Showing gratitude invites the spirit to be in your life. It opens you up to more blessings. I also know that the Lord hears and answers prayers. He has helped me through So much in my life. I'm grateful for the Gift of the Holy Ghost. I'm so haapy to be a member of God's true church. It has blessed my life in countless ways. And I'm thankful for my seminary teacher and class.

I think Brother Dorsey pretty much nailed it. Bro. D, you just became my hero of the week, congrats.

I might be looking into Majoring in Secondary Education when I go to college full time, since I decided getting my pilot's licence prolly wouldn't be condusive to raising a family. I think I'd like to teach highschool english or something special like creative writing or poetry. Or! I could be a full-time scouter! That would be AMAZING! But I'm pretty sure they don't have a school with a Scouting Major right now.

7 Year Old Asks "can We Fake It?"
Lonasunde replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I believe that if you put your trust in God, you'll find happiness. Maybe it would be agonizing for their families, but in the end their testimonies of God, and of what their loved ones had died for would be strengthend. Just like the Donner party of the LDS pioneers were never sorry for their trials as it brought them closer to their Heavenly Father, I think they would not regret the strength they recieved from their loved one's sacrifice. -
An Interpretive Tradition Rather Than Church “doctrine”
Lonasunde replied to Elphaba's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Thank you Elphaba. I really enjoyed reading that. I personally know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints Is the only church with authority given to us from God. Heavenly Father literally speaks through our Prophet. -
So What Do You Prefer To Be Called?

Eight for Mahanna!

In my own humble opinion. No. Just close.

I think you just have to move past it. Sort of realize it's insignificance. Maybe he hurt you. Maybe it hurt bad. But eventually You Die. What then? Will you have spent your life bitter about this? Don't you think you could have done much more interesting things with your time? I don't know if I'm putting it well, but I think you just need to look at it from another point of view. Put yourself in their shoes. Or better yet, your saviors. Whether you like it or not, that person is your brother, another child of God. Your Savior loves them too. You've made mistakes, so have they. God loves you both equally. Maybe you should look at the act as a little tumble that person had on the road back home. But now they've pulled themselves back up and are continuing to walk. Can you respect that?

I'd also like information on this subject for me next year. School won't be easy to pay for.

Welcome! I'm looking forward to hearing more about you. My Aunt and her family lived in Saudia Arabia for a while. My cousins were really little though, so they couldn't tell me much about it.

Ignore Jason, We're tickled to have you. Welcome!

Oh my goodness! I just went and checked them out. They're AWESOME! Really good stress reliever music.

I saw him today. He just looks ...dead. Like the shell of him is here, but not him. I know I probably should wait for a while, but seeing him like this cuts really deep.

Recently one of my friend's dad committed suicide. He shot himself in the chest. It was very sudden, and I'm not sure on all the details. I only met Mitch's dad once. He always seemed like a happy person though.. Anyway, I'm really worried about Mitch. He used to go to sunday school, and he was in my seminary class in 9th, so I know he was taught about the Plan of Happiness. I hope he remembers Enough though. I just really hope that he'll turn to the Lord for help, and not anywhere else. How can I help him remember what he was taught, and not have him push me away entirely?

lol, I was actually going to write my intro, but my computer had sudden spasms. It does that occasionally. Well, I'm Lona. I'm LDS, and pretty much a mo-mo. (Molly-Mormon) I'm a junior in high school which is evidently Really young around here. All of my favorite thing to do involve the outdoors. Even though I'm an internet bum. However, unless I am bundled up very well, I Hate going outside in the cold. I like going outside in chilly, or crisp Morning air, but No Cold! Grr. I've worked at Camp Bartlett the past 2 summers as a kitchen girl, but I really taught a few nature merit badges and re-did most of the strings for the bows at the Archery range. I can prolly teach the Archery Merit badge better than most of the Shooting Sports staff. I also love writing. Any sort of writing really. Whether prose, poetry, literature or a note to a friend, I love it all. I joined this site pretty much because I get bored. I figure it's safer to get bored and go to an LDS site, than Anywhere else. And it gives me more chance to write Feel free to chat or ask questions, I'll try to come up with informative or entertaining answers.

Why was 8 scared of 7? … Because 7-8-9. Not exactly a kid joke... but it's a good scout camp skit... An old man walked out onto a frozen lake on a bitter cold winter day. He drilled a hole in the ice, sat on his bucket, put his fishing line in the water and eagerly waited for a fish to bite. He was there for almost five hours without even a nibble when a young boy walked out, drilled a hole in the ice and sat on his bucket not far from the old man. It only took about one minute and BAM! A huge walleye bit his hook and the boy pulled in the fish. The old man couldn't believe it and figured it was just luck. Yet, the boy put his fish line in again and within just two minutes he pulled in another huge walleye! This went on and on until finally the old man couldn't stand it any more. He hadn't caught a fish all day. He went to the boy and said, "Boy, I've been here nearly all day without even a nibble. You have been here only a few minutes and have caught TEN huge fish! How do you do it?" The boy said, "Oo af o rep ra rums rm." "What," asked the old man? Again the boy said, "Oo af o rep ra rums rm.” Freezing and impatient the old man yelled "Look, I can't understand a word you are saying." So, the boy took off his gloves, spit a clump of stuff into his hands and said, "You have to keep the worms warm!!"

There were two muffins in the oven, and one looked to the other and said, "Is it just me, or is it hot in here?" The other screamed, "AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A TALKING MUFFIN!!!!" (cookies work too)

While you may be the only guy on this thread, you are definately Not the only guy who has read them. I agree completely that these books should NOT be sold in an LDS bookstore. They have Nothing to do with the LDS faith. While they Are Good books, they are not Uplifting books. And I think anyone who has read the chapter called Temper in Eclipse will agree that we don't want people thinking Mormons are ok with Bella's suggestion. The author Might be making a point with Edward's refusal, but really..
