  1. I am an avid user of FF but will be interested to hear about IE8. Apparently the beta version is out and it is supposed to be quite an improvement in regards to browsing security. However still will not update to IE8
  2. Thought this made for an interesting read Eamonn McCann: What if Mormons are right and Catholics and Protestants wrong? - Eamon McCann, Columnists - Belfasttelegraph.co.uk
  3. Look at his name in his post. It says banned because he was not able to follow the rules
  4. I appreciate the website name being published so I can avoid the site all together.
  5. candyprpl-Keep doing what you are doing. It will come as long as you stay the course, read much, study more, pray the most. Unrelated but have you read Christ and the New Covenant? I dont know why I ask but I think you should read it.
  6. I add my two cents to this even though it is not worth two cents to anyone but me and my family. Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God! I find it cool that W.W. Phelps wrote in his Praise to the Man, "millions shall know Brother Joseph again" Can you imagine what a bold statement this about someone who restored a church starting with six members. Bold yet very true. I don't let what people say about Joseph Smith bother me. He is in a long line of men of God who have been persecuted and continue to be persecuted. I know what I know and although I work hard to continue to expand my knowledge I don't let what anyone say affect my testimony of this work I don't have any good stories at this time as I am in the office and don't have any good stories to share. However I feel this is a great topic hopefully there will be more addition to these posts.
  7. I teach every third sunday and have for awhile now. The new manual I have found is good but it takes much more prep time than the other manuals did. I read it a few times a few weeks ahead as I become more familiar with it. I find that I gloss over the first section as it is history and doesn't go into the doctrine. I also go into the teaches of the prophet Joseph Smith for a little more It is too bad that not many people (at least in my quorum) dont read the lesson ahead of time. I think the lesson would go better that way
  8. See if you can say Swedenborgians three times real fast and not mess up. That is a tongue twister
  9. Vort- My Dad ran into issues with family members in the 1600s roughly 15 years ago as they said 95% of that work for that time period was done. It was frustrating for him and he had to go through some "red tape" but in the end it was all done. Mailis-Good luck with it and welcome to the frustrating side of genealogy. There is SOOOOO much out there with little backing it up
  10. Check out the Bible Dictionary on what it says about the Saviors statement on today though will be with me in paradise. Summarizing Bible Dictionary-it would better read place of spirits It was the "audience" member who was really the jerk. I felt he was out of line approaching it that way. The teacher was a bit overwhelmed Rameumton I would be interested to read where you find out that ordinances are only for final judgement and not spirit prison/judgement. I was reading a bit of McConkie and Joseph F. Smith regarding what they say. I find this topic interesting. However I rejoice in the fact I don't need to know the answer but rather I need to live right, recieve the necessary ordinances and endure to the end.
  11. We had an interesting lesson yesterday that was nearly ruined by someone in Gospel Doctrine class. He asked the teacher if ordinances were necessary to be in spirit paradise. The teacher said yes and rather than politely disagree and explain why he raised his voice, nearly yelling, and said "that is a falsehood. You are WRONG" The way he went about it bothered me because it was irreverant and disrespectful. Anyway he did not expound at all with proof behind what he thought. My question is are the ordinances necessary and if so where does it talk about it? I found this in the Gospel Principles manual "The Apostle Peter referred to the spirit world as a prison, which it is for some (see 1 Peter 3:18–20). In the spirit prison are the spirits of those who have not yet received the gospel of Jesus Christ. These spirits have agency and may be enticed by both good and evil. If they accept the gospel and the ordinances performed for them in the temples, they may prepare themselves to leave the spirit prison and dwell in paradise." Anymore out there? I heard him after talking with someone and he is a bit confused but I will add more of what he said after if it is pertinent.
  12. I would look at this website. Might be of some help FAIR Topical Guide: DNA and the Book of Mormon
  13. Now I know why Palerider is the head moderator. He is all about the moneeeeeeeeeeeey
  14. Alright I finally graduated from Junior Member status to Member status. I am breaking out the party hats right now. I cannot wait to be a senior member. Than I will be all grown up:D
  15. Welcome to the site. I assume you are in sunny souther cal as you were married in San Diego
  16. I understand that you are saying that the masons as you quoted from Wiki came before the Restoration of the Gospel in the 1800s. That is not my point. My point is that the endowment has been around for thousands of years. Brigham Young said that "It is true that Solomon built a temple for the purpose of giving endowments" (Discourses of Brigham Young 18:303) It is not new hence my point that it came before the masons
  17. That is laughable on his part, thanks for posting. You did a great job as far as I am concerned on answering his questions. I wonder if he is a mason. I cannot help but to think that he is not. Which makes it a bit harder to study and understand them. By the same logic he uses I could study medicine and that would automatically make me a doctor (or by his logic a "scholar" and how I use that term loosely for him) Once again I commend you on what you wrote and appreciate you adding in the difference between the two of you on how you approached studying the matter out.
  18. If you find that crystal ball that gives you the answers let me know. My biggest problem is wanting to know the answers right away without doing any work. Needless to say that doesnt work. Keep praying and fasting
  19. Not a scholarly reference. What a load of (fill in the blank). What does your friend consider a scholarly reference? I bet he considers himself a scholar than. SOunds like he is not even interested in hearing your point of view or investigating it himself. His mind is made up and that is that. Sorry to hear about that. I am interested to see how this pans out for you
  20. The Masons are just a apostate version of the temple ceremony. Whenever the Lord has something the adversary always attempts a close copy. I am not well versed in this because I never worried about it but check out this link FAIR Topical Guide: Masonic Influence on the FAIRS website. Hope that helps
  21. Seems like we should start a new thread with that last post. Getting a bit long and confusing to follow
  22. I understand what you are saying. I was only responding to your statement on page 11 where you said "Other Christian denominations do not say they are the only true church" which according to the links I attached is not true. The Catholic Church believes it is the one true church. Once again I will add the disclaimer I am not a member of the Catholic Church and have only the catholic.org articles to base my opinion that they believe they are the one true church. So if I am reading it wrong and the Catholic church does not believe it is the one true church let me know
