  1. Correct me if I am wrong but Pope Benedict has come out and said that the Catholic Church is the only true church. Links I found after a very quick but brief google search Pope: Jesus formed 'only one church' - The Vatican - MSNBC.com Catholic Church only true church, Vatican says Catholic Church only true church, Vatican says
  2. Milk before meat is a valid concept so I would respectfully disagree. (which hopefully we can do on this board without anyone getting offended or all huffy about it) The 4th article of faith outlines the FIRST four principles and ordinances of the gospel. Those come first. Then we can further our knowledge through fervent studying and prayer with enlightenment form the Holy Ghost This is not a new concept as I mentioned before. The apostles started with basic gospel knowledge (even though they knew much more than that) before teaching them such doctrine as found in John 10:33-36, Rev. 3:21, 1 John 3:2, Matt. 5:48, 2 Peter 1:3-4, etc.) (please note that i borrowed this list from Mormanity - A Mormon Blog: Meat Before Milk? Dealing with the Divine Potential of Human Beings I still believe that is the process the Church will continue to follow just as the ancient teachers of the Gospel did.
  3. There is always the option of oral steroids which can act as a strong anti-inflammatory to help calm down the allergic reaction. But they require a doctors visit. Some people like calamine lotion as well to help with the itching of bites
  4. Good post. I have gone on with a few ramblings myself about this topic. I believe that it is apathy that is more pervasive now than ever before. People no longer will stand up for what they believe in because it is easier to go with the flow. It is a great tool that Satan has used. As long as you are not doing anything bad than you are okay right? WRONG!!!! To much is going on around us and too many don't do anything. I am guilty of it myself. Bit by bit though in my quest to be a better person I try to focus more on doing good things rather than just not doing anything bad
  5. Milk before meat. To every thing there is a season. Line upon line and fill in whatever else fits appropriately here. Following developing a testimony of God the Father and His son Jesus Christ people then need to gain a testimony of the restored gospel and prophets and apostles. Without a testimony that the Prophet is called of God then the Prophet is just a man telling me things I may not want to hear or follow. I believe if this is gained then it is easier to comprehend what you call controversial issues. You are more likely to listen to the leaders of the LDS church if you know they are called of God. I believe this system of learning bit by bit has been in place for thousands of years and will continue. As for discussing controversial issues there will always be people willing to argue for and against. I figure if I spend that time reading the scriptures, the Lord will help me with any issues I may be struggling against
  6. I would scan them and then photoshop them to darken the pencil on the computer. I dont know how to preserve the original but sometimes the archive guys online can be helpful. Try googling it and see.

Now that direct tv has the mountain it should be easier for you to see all the games. I am anxious to get the season started. I am tired of waiting
  8. Check this out and it will have what you are looking for LDS.org - Sunday School and click under class member study guide
  9. Hemi you must get those emails that I see floating around that contain those jokes. The site wanted me to sign up and they would send me a weekly one but i opted not.
  10. I totally agree with you that there are those who would discredit the Prophet and applaud you for saying something. However I don't worry about Brother Joseph being able to stand up for himself. His works do more for that than I can ever say or do for him. Those that attempt to discredit him will stand accountable. It reminds me of someone I met on my mission in Sydney Australia. Right after the Reorganized church split a missionary from their church went up and down the coast of Australia and was very successful and helped form many congregations of reorganized LDS members. A particular member of that church told me that Brigham Young was in hell and when I saw him there that I would be sorry and rezlize then that he was not a Prophet of God. After somewhat chuckling (because it had been a few months since someone told me I was going to hell) and bore my testimony that he was indeed a prophet and that she would one day be accountable for her words.
  11. I see a UFO everytime I look in the mirror. Oh how the youth fades and I dont even recognize myself. Maybe it was like that;)
  12. Welcome. There is good stuff here so enjoy
  13. I would say the Sydney Harbor itself is very impressive however I enjoyed the areas outside of Sydney. I really liked the Central Coast. It was full of little beach towns and relaxed friendly people. Out west was pretty cool. Very rural and full of some good ol' cowboys. I would recommend that vacation to anyone in a heartbeat
  14. Yeah I am interested to hear how things go. Don't worry if they cannot answer all your questions. The answers are around to those who earnestly seek
  15. I thought that some would find Mr. Otterson's postings interesting. I have found them insightful and a good read. He is also a great person who works closely with the Brethren and always has good stories. Michael Otterson: History, Logic and Common Sense - On Faith at washingtonpost.com The comments are pretty ridiculous so I don't bother reading them anymore.
  16. Why would you take offense at being called quite a character. I find that to be a compliment. All in how you look at it though.
  17. Since i have posted a few times and never introduced myself I figure it is about time. After looking at many LDS sites I have found this is the best for discussion on religious matters, life and has a good eclectic mix of people posting. I have been a member since age 8 and served a mission in Sydney Australia. What a great place. Currently living in the states and I love church history. So thanks to those who put this site together and work hard to run it/moderate it
  18. I spent two years serving an LDS mission in New South Wales so I heard mate quite a few times. So I assumed because it is rare to hear that outside of australia
  19. Thought you might be from Australia the way you were calling your friends mates. My bad
  20. Always nice to see a Kiwi on the board. Welcome
  21. Check out this site LDS Church History - and this site is not bad LDS Church History
  22. Humbleone, you from Oz? Just wondering with you dropping the mates in your reply
  23. It is for the reasons you mentioned (of course along with thousands of others) that I admire the leaders of the Church. I know they "get it" They truly understand who they are and I have a deep respect for those who understand who they really are. Do you think that if we did understand this then we would not fear death. I do!
