Jolee, after a few post like these you learn that some people come to argue and others are really and truly interested. I used to wonder why other people did not respond to those asking questions when I realized that they to have learned who is interested and who comes to argue. Thanks for your posts here and answering what you could before it turned ugly

I absolutely agree with you on this post. Those that have been set apart in a leadership position have the right to receive revelation for those in their stewardship. I sustain the Apostles, General Authorities and other leaders in the Church including the General Relief Society and Young Women/Men's Presidencies. What they say is important. We should absolutely follow the counsel they give. Wo unto those who ignore their counsel for they will be held accountable at the last day. Having said this I am at fault for sometimes taking their counsel lightly or tuning out during some of their General Conference talks. I too will be held accountable which is motivation for me to pay more attention

I figured it was only a matter of time before these suits come forth. I would have thought it would have been over the seminary release time though.

So let's sue Palerider now for 30 million dollars as he did not warn you he was going to post something funny that would cause you to spill the hot cocoa. If he had put up a warning you could have put down the hot cocoa and avoiding spilling it. By the way I will take 10 percent of what you win for the advice given here.

Seriously a hilarious post. Thanks for that entertainment. Now to solve your problem Ceeboo (your Lions problems as I have no idea how to fix your other problems:D) I would recommend going to the game as either a clown to entertain people as the Lions certainly are not, OR go as the cowardly lion and ask people if they can help you and the other Lions find the heart to win games all while singing I am off to see the wizard. I heard he is all powerful.

I am reminded of that line from the movie The Guardian when the main character is asked who he saves and he says (summarizing of course) he swims as hard as he can for as fast as he can and when he can do no more and the sea takes the rest than he is done. It sounds like you have done all you can and that is what matters. Now when you rest up can you come to my neighborhood as we are about to get pounded by the white stuff.

Discrimination for having not served a mission
goofball replied to anotherbrick's topic in Advice Board
I have two friends that joined the church at 19 and neither of them served missions. They did not feel it was right for them. They both were in similar situations as you in terms of discrimination. However they persisted and were able to find great LDS girls, married in the temple and have great lives. One of those guys I mention is currently serving in the Bishopric at age 29 in Southern California. I mention this because it can work for you. Perhaps this is a trial for you that you have to endure before the blessings come. -
How do I answer some of these anti - questions??
goofball replied to Michael Spikes05's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
We believe the Word is the Savior. JST, John 1:1, 14—Why Did John Call Jesus “the Word”? Elder James E. Talmage taught that Jesus was the one “through whom the will, commandment, or word of the Father was put into effect” (Jesus the Christ, 33). He represents Heavenly Father the way a word represents an idea. Just as a word could be considered the messenger of a thing or an idea, Christ was the messenger of the Father and of His gospel, which is a plan of salvation for all mankind. (2-1) John 1:1. How Is Jesus the Word of God? “. . . the Father operated in the work of creation through the Son, who thus became the executive through whom the will, commandment, or word of the Father was put into effect. It is with incisive appropriateness therefore, that the Son, Jesus Christ, is designated by the apostle John as the Word; or as declared by the Father ‘the word of my power.’ (Moses 1:32.)” -

John was telling people to not add on to the book of revelations. What you need to understand is that the order of the books in the Bible were placed in their current order by man, not God. There is a bunch of info on this but I dont have it on me. Dont worry about looking at anti-mormon stuff on the internet. Too much falsehood and full of lies they are Edit: I found this for you, FAIR Topical Guide: Bible Complete - No Additional Scripture -
Who are you addressing?. Maybe I missed something there.

Acts 7:55-60 talks about the stoning of Stephen and Stephen seeing the heavens open up and him seeing "Son of man standing on the right hand of God." (New Testament | Acts 7:56) To help me understand your position are you saying the Christ had not yet ascend to heaven when He visited Thomas who many know as doubting Thomas. That was 8 days after He told His apostles "Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you."(New Testament | John 20:21) Do you think he did not ascend to His Father at that point and was somehow bound here on earth until He as Luke said in his last chapter that he was carried up into heaven? You must understand that many on this board, myself included, like to see references not a blanket statement saying that the Savior is not supposed to return until the world ends. Where in the scriptures does it say this. Also you must understand that people interpret what the Bible says in many different ways, hence the many denominations. As for those of the LDS faith we believe in living prophets, and we believe the Lord Jesus Christ leads the Church and can frankly visit whenever He feels it is necessary. I would not be so bold as to put restrictions on what the Son of God and Savior of the World can and cannot do.

Brigham Young felt it was when you first felt the baby stir within you. It is in his journal of discourses. I don't know what that feels like and never will seeing that I am not a woman. (leave out sarcastic comment here to those who read this post)

Members near the Draper temple were asked to watch out for the temple and spend the night on the grounds as it is being constructed. I dont see how these don't fit under hate crimes

You will likely get plenty of responses if you post a myth one at a time in your thread. It sounds rather amusing- 38 replies

Thanks I thought I saw that in a previous thread in that section. Now people who don't read that section can read this great quote

Just saw this in an email. I think in might have been shared already but for those who haven't i thought it was a great quote. "Make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters, in the months and years ahead, events are likely to require each member to decide whether or not he will follow the First Presidency. Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions. President Marion G. Romney said, many years ago, that he had 'never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional or political life.' "This is hard doctrine, but it is particularly vital doctrine in a society which is becoming more wicked. In short, brothers and sisters, not being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ. . . . Your discipleship may see the time when such religious convictions are discounted. . . . This new irreligious imperialism seeks to disallow certain opinions simply because those opinions grow out of religious convictions. "Resistance to abortion will be seen as primitive. Concern over the institution of the family will be viewed as untrendy and unenlightened.... Before the ultimate victory of the forces of righteousness, some skirmishes will be lost. Even in these, however, let us leave a record so that the choices are clear, letting others do as they will in the face of prophetic counsel. There will also be times, happily, when a minor defeat seems probable, but others will step forward, having been rallied to rightness by what we do. We will know the joy, on occasion, of having awakened a slumbering majority of the decent people of all races and creeds which was, till then, unconscious of itself. Jesus said that when the fig trees put forth their leaves, 'summer is nigh.' Thus warned that summer is upon us, let us not then complain of the heat." --- Elder Neal A. Maxwell 1979, Elder Maxwell A more determined Discipleship
