The other interesting thing about this topic? I’ve rarely seen someone’s life improve after they decided to become more blunt. Usually your life gets better when you try to use more restraint. I’m sure there is someone out there who became more blunt and tactless and improved their life-but the overwhelming majority of us moments where we wish we acted with more manners, not less.
-
Nothing wrong with that as long as you accept the same behavior from everyone else. If you want to put tact on the side that’s fine, but you lose the right to complain if someone gives you the same attitude.
-
I’ve also noticed that people who love to be rude and abrasive collapse into jelly when someone uses their own tone against them. Almost like they are so arrogant they think they can judge everyone but they cry like babies when someone punches back. That’s true with the bullies you encounter in 5th grade, 12th grade, and age 34.
-
It depends. If you want to be listened to and taken seriously, you need to use some manners and basic politeness. If you don’t care how others view you and like being known as a rude and nasty, then knock yourself out and “keep it real”. Obviously, if you are with friends you can bust chops and let your hair down. But I don’t recommend walking up to the relief society president and telling her how fat and stupid she is. Even if it’s “accurate.”

Wow. Never would have thought that about him.

Correct there. MAGA/old school republicans are fighting a civil war with no interest in making peace with each other, much less democrats.

Republican centrists voted for Beto?

LGBT Prediction That Is Worth the Paper It's Printed On

https://news.gallup.com/poll/389792/lgbt-identification-ticks-up.aspx Heterosexuality is still the norm in our society. That’s what @Phoenix_person was saying. I think. Amazingly, both the hard right and hard left want to believe that homosexuality is far more common than what it is because it fits their already held views. -

Little bit more complicated than that. They came with the bible in one hand, but the bayonet in the other. -

Agree. I think we’re already seeing it, sadly. -

I totally agree. I think the future of churches won’t be persecution-it’ll be apathy. -
Even when I agree with the left I don’t want to be associated with them. Same with Trump. Even if I agree with him I don’t want him to be a spokesman for my values.

@NeuroTypical-your new avatar is awesome. Just saying.

Most of my friends wouldn’t describe themselves as “allies.” Or liberals. I live in one of the reddest parts of a red state after all. The “liberals” here usually own five guns instead of ten. -
Speaking of caffeine, I tend to look down on people who drink energy drinks because of the caffeine, but I absolutely love soda. Which is loaded with caffeine.
-
That’s probably due more to natural wear and tear on the body than caffeine consumption.

When I first joined the church, a bishop and I were joking around getting to know each other. I told him how LDS seem very polite, very peaceful and that I didn’t think I’d fit in. With the most ironic tone in history, he said “Just ask a Mormon if we can drink caffeine. You’ll see.” Best. Bishop. Ever.

Okay. China is not my favorite son either. I love their people-my BIL lives there and we’ve hosted four Chinese exchange students-but like all of us here, I dislike their government. I don’t let my dislike of their government delude my views of the current state of world affairs. China is watching the Ukraine and seeing how they (Ukraine) are fighting back. China is taking notes-they don’t want the worldwide condemnation and their own Vietnam. Could an invasion happen? Sure. But it’s not likely.
-
True, but China isn’t motivated by religion. The 9/11 hijackers were. That’s an absolutely crucial distinction. Sorry.
