Lol! That backfired for me. I wanted to be a grouchy old person and hate tiktok but I fell in love with the couples challenges and silly prank videos. I don’t have a tiktok personally but I watch the videos on Reels all the time.

So sorry for your friend bro. It’s most sad for his victims of course, but my heart breaks for your friend. 😞 -
Sorry, still do. Sure there are circumstances where it might not be appropriate, but my mind hasn’t changed.

The damage he did to Evangelical believers is horrendous. I’m not going to say people lost their faith because of him (yes, put your faith in the Lord, not men) but some absolutely had their foundation rocked. Whenever I read Case for Christ I see Ravis name and cringe a bit. Just knowing how it ended. -
No. But I don’t fear Nazism or the KKK, or Marxists. Their ideas are so repulsive that I welcome them in the public sphere for many reasons. 1, so we can make fun of them. 2, so we can identify who holds those views, and 3, so we can combat their views. Number one is most important. People who seriously hold those views hate being mocked. So we should all mock them mercilessly.

Off topic, but I think some evangelicals have spoken at BYU. If I’m wrong feel free to correct me everyone. -
Sorry I misunderstood.

Whatever works. I do see it differently. I just don’t understand why it’s so intimidating if someone is confident in their own views. It reminds me of college leftists suppressing the kid who dares to say there are only two genders. Let the kid talk, why is the professor so scared?
-
To me it depends if you have confidence in the truth. I’m not terribly worried about suppressing alternative viewpoints or diverse thought. I’m confident what I believe is true. If I was insecure or scared of other views, than I’d be afraid of diversity.
-
Thank. I was talking about @Travelers op. I’m lost how he said there is no greater evil than diversity. Diversity of thought is a good thing, a very good thing, but it’s not how the real world works. Like I said in another post people generally want to be surrounded by those who spew out what they believe. It applies to liberals, conservatives, atheists, believers…

I’m lost as well.

Watching the game now. This kid can play!

As a naive 20 year old I also thought that most people wanted to be thought of as open minded, but now I know better. People don’t want to be open minded, and they don’t care about being thought of that way. Instead, they want constant reassurance of their already held views. I pride myself on having friends who I disagree with. I had a two and half hour religious debate yesterday with a friend on our way to and from a Gators basketball game. But I’m guilty of this too of course. -

I’m certainly not an expert, but I’ve read his “Studies on the Book of Mormon.” He doesn’t seen to believe what he was writing. I think he died a very unhappy and conflicted guy. 😞

I believe in God, but I totally understand how someone could lose their faith if they lost loved ones in world war 2. Atheism in Europe is skyrocketing, and if we had two world wars in under 50 years in Kentucky, Utah, and Alabama it would probably skyrocket here too -
True. When I think of the main cause of World War II diversity is the first thing that comes to mind.

This will be the ultimate battle for the church members in the future. The near future. The Catholics have been dealing with the “liberalism” of Pope Francis, and now it’ll come to Salt Lake City. I have a ton of conservative Catholic friends, and they said “Shut up and obey the pope” when Benedict was in office. Now they squirm, wiggle and look uncomfortable because “Shut up and obey the pope.” doesn’t work when they disagree with the Pope. I’m almost certain the same kind of thing will happen shortly here. It’s a taste of their own medicine, and boy do they dislike it. -

We all have to make a living, and I don’t pay his bills or feed his family with my paycheck. Nor am I going to start doing so. I should probably be quiet. However, if he asked for my opinion I’d tell them to get another job. It’s dirty. Like working for an adult movie manufacturer. -

This guy worked for Phillip Morris? A company you can say, without hyperbole, is accountable for millions of deaths. We all need to feed our families and they can say whatever they want now about anti smoking, but that’s repulsive.
