  1. READ THEM. UNDERSTAND THEM. Alma NEVER said it would be better for Corianton to be dead, not when he has the chance to repent. Everyone is talking about Honor. YES! Good! Purity is the way to go! Integrity! This should be taught to the young man going out on his mission. Have honor! Choose honor over your life, if you must. But I don't honor the man who says he'd rather see his son dead than impure. If he said "I'd rather you choose death over impurity," yeah, but not the way he said it... Perhaps he was just trying to leave a deep impression, but there's other ways, more proper ways. Know ye not that the Gospel is the Gospel of Repentance, the keys of which are held by the lower, Aaronic priesthood, and not merely the Melchizedek priesthood or by Missionaries alone? We're ALL commanded to preach repentance to the world... Better to teach repentance, than to teach your children that you will cease preferring them among the living if they sin.
  2. Oh, your kids are pretty cute in my estimation, too, tomk. Definitely something to be proud of :)
  3. How do you LOVE them and not LIKE them? It's just as you quoted. Charity is the pure love of Christ. I love plenty of people I don't like. I don't get along with them, I find their personalities or life choices hard to deal with or frustrating. I don't ENJOY their presence. But I do not wish ill of them. If they were in need I'd still aid them. I would hope their condition in life improves, and that they find peace and righteousness. I would not want anyone to suffer. Especially if I could do something about it. I still pray for them, that they get what they need and have direction in their life, for whatever purpose. That's how I love them without liking them.
  4. I loved the accent. I loved that it innately helps with the sense that Mormons are around the world, not just in the USA.
  5. What's this about only having 30 minutes a day on the computer? Whose rule is this?
  6. The WoW is a law of health, there's so much to get from it. Healthy eating, exercise, and sleeping habits. You should do all these as well as taking meds. Who knows, it might help! I think the REASON for taking medicine should be this: If I don't take it, a pre-existing condition will prevent me from functioning properly. (See, this eliminates addiction, which your body needs to function "properly" only because you altered your chemistry to dependency.) I don't see why there should be anything wrong with medicine. As long as we're doing it with prudence and thanksgiving, for the right reasons...
  7. Actually, looks like I misread your post. Read a "were" as "weren't" which changed my understanding of the rest. You say you don't believe they were pre-existent... You don't accept PoGP as scripture?
  8. Scriptures also refer to satan's minions as angels. Jude 1:6 2 Nephi 9:9 D&C 76:33,36,44 D&C 29:28,37 Matthew 25:41 Word Search: angels of devil
  9. I've heard that, too. Girls bring up the RMs, and then the leaders... I don't know, haven't been there, but they might "praise" that. I also know Pat. Blessings mention girls marrying RMs, which is another reason some date RMs only.
  10. Girls in my ward have told me that in Young Women's marrying a returned missionary was emphasized.
  11. Well how did they come about in the first place? Momma has a big baby. Big baby mates with another big baby (when they're older.) Keeps happening, you get a whole bunch of big babies all living together. Also, I have no idea about this, but it's likely that one of the 8 had some of the same lineage as the first giants.
  12. Which falls in line with what I quoted. If after 120 they don't repent, the Lord will send the flood and destroy them all.

  14. Bible dictionary:
  15. Both. The giants before the flood didn't survive, but more came about afterwards. Speculation: After the flood, when men spread out in the land again, some "tribe" started having rather large people. Genetics or diet, I don't know (and don't care, lol). I feel they're height was likely exaggerated, although some were probably very tall, as Goliath was. If we suppose that the average height of a normal man back then was considerably shorter than now... like a foot, than even a man 7 foot tall would seem like a giant. I'm 5'10, and I know people that're 6'6" that seem like they're a breed of their own. Now put them in armor and on the other side of the battle field, and they probably seem even bigger.
  16. He can come home unclean but REPENT and RENEW his covenants and be completely FORGIVEN. Would you not want your child alive and able to repent, and spend more time in this mortal probation learning and progressing? And there are other ways to lose your virtue than with a girl, when on your mission. See the recent missionaries vs. Catholic statues incident.
  17. This is what I was referring to earlier about the 120 years: (4-9) Genesis 6:3. What Is the Significance of the Promise of 120 Years? Many scholars, who have only Genesis to study, believe that this statement prophesied the shortened life expectancy that would take place after the Flood. In the book of Moses, however, it is clear that the 120 years referred to the time when Noah would preach repentance and try to save the world before the Flood was sent (see Moses 8:17). This period would be the time referred to by Peter as the time when “the longsuffering of God waited” (1 Peter 3:20). Because the people rejected the principles and ordinances of the gospel, preached to them by Noah, they were destroyed in the Flood. The Lord gave them more than adequate time to repent.
  18. They were most likely just a race of giants. (Like the Anakim in Numbers 13:33) The same Hebrew word is used in Numbers 13:33 as it is in Genesis 6:4. The word, "Nephilim" Scandinavian people have been known for their height, I'm sure it was something such as that. These were "giants." It also seems to signify their prowess at war. They were hard to defeat, or at least feared. See Goliath. This is taken from the CES Institute Manual on the Old Testament (First half) http://www.ldsces.org/inst_manuals/full/CESInstitute_OT1Gento2Sam_Student_00__Complete_32489_eng.pdf
  19. Oh, no. There's been mom's killing small children and such these days. Remember the one who drowned her kids?
  20. I need them, simply. I don't function properly without medication. On my mood stabilizer I'm good, but my mood still isn't the level it's supposed to be. Prozac, which I was on (and hope to get back on) is also a treatment for anxiety. Anti-depressant and anxiety med in one go is pretty darn effective for me. All good things are inspired of the Lord. I believe that technological advancements are gifts from God. Whether it be medical treatments, or instant messaging, or robotics, etc. etc.
  21. Wow! Honor, yes! But what about repentance and the Atonement? I'd rather my (future) kid come back home "dishonorably" than dead.
  22. The part I caught was that "Jesus will be there." Which it seemed bert was saying only those in the Highest Kingdom will get, not everyone who gets into Heaven.
  23. It's the same old song But with a different meaning Since you been gone ---- Myself, I would very much like to have a vision of some sort. How great would that experience be? Someday I'm sure I will, hehe... But I'll probably have to wait for the Millennium.
  24. It seems to be true. It's because you're very opinionated, I think. You don't beat around the bush, in my experience. You say what you want to say, and mean it. Many people like that kind of "get it done" attitude. Others seem to just notice that your opinion is different, plus you're sarcastic (a lot of the time). Took me a couple weeks to realize it and start to enjoy you. Does not mean I agree with you, but I do like ya'
  25. This is what I fear about moving to The Bubble. So many gals are "RM only" that it's going to be tough. I'm sure there's plenty who don't care, and I'm absolutely fine with them, but if I get rejected a lot for not being an RM that's still going to be a downer.
