  2. MOSIAH The word [moshiah] is Hebrew, an generally translated in two different ways --> Isaiah 43:11 (RSV) I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no ==savior== Judges 3:15 (RSV) But when the people of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up for them a ==deliverer==
  3. What is the More Good Foundation? More Good Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps Mormons (members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) share their beliefs on the Internet. **We operate WEBSITES and social media PLATFORMS in over 15 languages and provide TOOLS AN TRAINING to Universities, Institutes and Church Firesides** We work closely with and support other groups and foundations with like-minded missions from all over the world. More Good Foundation was created in 2005 as a solution to the overwhelming need for accurate information about the LDS faith on the Internet. It is operated by a small team of employees along with many volunteers. https://www.moregoodfoundation.org/
  4. " numerous well documented examples of burying unflattering evidence" Elder Russell Ballard gave a talk to CES employees. We call this a watershed talk because in this talk he admits that the well-meaning curriculum of the past did not meet the needs of what our youth today need. There needs to be more transparency about our past, so the Brethren are making efforts to change what maybe past leaders thought was important. They have made documents available on the Joseph Smith Papers project, the Mountain Meadows Massacre project was very transparent about what happened in an unfortunate incident. Then they brought forth the Gospel Topics Essays, where they talk about these hot button topics. They are making strides even incorporating these Gospel Topics Essays into our curriculum. So yes, perhaps they should have done more, earlier, but they’re doing the best they can right now to bring that information out. http://www.ldsperspectives.com/2017/05/24/polygamy-questions-joseph-smith/
  5. Missouri War Read what General Wilson says, about it all. General Wilson “We Jackson County boys know how it is. We know that from the beginning the Mormons have not been the aggressors at all as it began in `33,. You Mormons were crowded to the last extreme, and compelled to self-defense; and this has been construed into treason, murder and plunder. We mob you without law; the authorities refuse to protect you according to law; you then are compelled to protect yourselves, and we act upon the prejudices of the public, who join our forces, and the whole is legalized, for your destruction and our gain. Is not this a shrewd and cunning policy on our part, gentlemen? “When we drove you [Mormons] from Jackson County, we burned two hundred of your houses; plundered your goods; destroyed your press and all, tarred and feathered old Bishop Partridge. We shot down some of your men, and, if any of you returned the fire, we imprisoned you, on your trial for murder. Shrewdly done, gentlemen; and I came near kicking the bucket myself; for, on one occasion, while we were tearing down houses, driving families, and destroying and plundering goods, some of you good folks put a ball through my son’s body, another through the arm of my clerk, and a third pierced my shirt collar and marked my neck. No blame, gentlemen; we deserved it. “
  6. n Joseph Smith's day.. according to the laws of the land that were established BEFORE Joseph Smith was even born.... this is what we find==>> The age of consent for marriage under English common law was TEN. United States law did not raise the age of consent until the late nineteenth century. In Joseph Smith’s day, most states still had the declared age of consent to be TEN! Some had raised it to TWELVE, and Delaware had lowered it to SEVEN! (See Melina McTigue, “Statutory Rape Law Reform in Nineteenth Century Maryland: An Analysis of Theory and Practical Change,” (2002), accessed 5 Feb 2005) in 1880 (nearly 40 years after Joseph Smith’s death), the minimal age of female consent in Illinois was age 10. The following U. S. states (and territories) identified their minimal age of female consent at age 10 in 1880: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. (Source 1) The following states identified their ages of female consent at 12 in 1880: Arizona, District of Columbia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia. (Source 1) Outside the U. S., Denmark’s minimum age for female consent was 12 in 1880–and still 12 in 1920. Same ages and dates for Portugal, Scotland, and Spain. By 1880 England had advanced the minimal age from 12 to 13. The age of consent in Canada and Australia in 1880 was also 12. By 1920 Canada had advanced the age to 14. In Russia the minimum age in 1880 was 10. It advanced to 14 by 1920. (Source 1) . 8. Joseph Smith blah blah Just curious -- would you take someone (Paul) who threw men, women, children into prison for being Christian, and also gave his tacit approval of the stoning death of a Christian missionary over a disorderly person? What are your feelings about a murder who killed an Egyptian guard and then ran away to escape justice (Moses) vs a disorderly person? What about the three times Peter lied about knowing Jesus????? Can I assume that you will refuse to answer me.

  10. Today, the Church disavows the THEORIES advanced in the past that black skin is a sign of divine disfavor or curse, or that it reflects unrighteous actions in a premortal life; that mixed-race marriages are a sin; or that blacks or people of any other race or ethnicity are inferior in any way to anyone else. Church leaders today unequivocally condemn all racism, past and present, in any form.24 [EMPHASIS ADDED] https://www.lds.org/topics/race-and-the-priesthood?lang=eng
  11. >Mormonism is from Satan Which of these doctrines are from Satan? 1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. 2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression. 3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. 4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. 5. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things

  14. >>new religious argument Here goes, courtesy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints ==>> Matter is eternal. God used existing matter in the creation process, not ex nihlo. Natural law is also eternal, and God is subject to those laws. For example, God used the laws of evolution, gravity, quantum physics in the creation process. Chicken and egg. They have always existed in the universe. There was no "first" egg or chicken. (a modified panspermia).
  15. Many of the denominations are followers of Paul who is the catalyst of those Christians sects today. Paul taught that the mouth could save us (Rom 10:10), which was contrary to what Christ taught and James tried to correct him -- faith without works is dead, and dead faith faith cannot save anyone , the demons confess Christ and tremble. They continue to teach Paul's other gospel in their churches today rather than what Christ taught -- e.g. baptism (a work) is necessary for salvation (Mark 16:16). Peter warned us about following the teachings of Paul (2 Peter 3:15-16) but they heed not his warning.
  16. He could not translate unless he was in possession of the plates. But the plates did not have to be physically present in the hat -- the seer stone could translate the plates remotely,.
  17. Reformed Egyptian In the July/August 2018 edition of "Biblical Archaeology Review" on page 33, is an article "Egyptian Papyrus Sheds New Light on Jewish History." The author is Karel van der Toorn. The article is about a papyrus roll discovered in the late 19th century at Luxor (ancient Thebes). It took more than 120 years to decipher the text. It was discovered that Egyptian Demotic script had been used to write Aramaic text! The translation turned out to be three Israelite psalms written about 400BC. This is an example of "Reformed Egyptian" used by Israelites and discovered by non-Mormons!!
  18. Just curious, how do you explain his being able to dictate for hours at a sitting, with his face in a hat -- no lamp, no table, unable to turn pages, no manuscript to read from. Just read the Book of Mormon and see how that "maps to reality" to be able to dictate such a book.
  19. 2 Peter 1 [20] Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. [21] For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God [prophets] spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost [revelation]. The Lord has called in our day, not scribes and Pharasees with their lexicons, but living prophets with revelation to interpret the scriptures. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MMfh-0XzqQ&t=2s
  20. You're going to hell, blah blah blah blah Hallelujah, I leap for joy! Luke 6 [22] Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. [23] Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
  21. The Book of Mormon text -- grammar and vocabulary, is based on Early Modern English, about a century earlier than the KJV. For details https://youtu.be/oHJzY_9RZ4E http://www.mormondialogue.org/topic/71061-skousen-carmack-lecture-take-aways/ During the thirty years Royal Skousen has been working on the Book of Mormon Critical Text Project, he has discovered certain words and phrases that appear on the surface to be either ungrammatical or stylistically unusual. Some critics have claimed that these phrases are Joseph Smith’s dialect mixed with a crude imitation of the language of the King James Bible. But many of these phrases can be tied to Early Modern English, in use from 1530 to 1730. Skousen also identifies phrases from the King James Bible that are skillfully woven into the Book of Mormon text in unexpected ways as well as numerous issues that Protestants argued over during the 1500s and 1600s, such as infant baptism. Although the Book of Mormon contains elements from Early Modern English, it is not an Early Modern English text. It is unique. https://byustudies.byu.edu/content/language-original-text-book-mormon (premium article)
  22. Joseph Smith... blah blah blah Why don't you expose other prophets == MOSES -- used a mystical staff that magicians also used which could transform into a serpent. Killed an Egyptian hid his body, and fled out of Egypt to escape arrest. PAUL == arrested and threw into prison men, women and children for simply being Christian. Gave approval and consent for the stoning of Stephen An angel of light appeared to him on the road to Damascus. His account was written several decades after the event, and the two accounts contradict each other. He was arrested for being a disorderly person and causing a riot. PETER == took a sword and almost killed a servant, told a lie and denied knowing Christ multiple times. NATHAN == gave false prophecy about David building a temple.

  24. Did the gates of hell prevail over Christ when He DIED on the cross, and His DEAD body lay in the tomb for THREE DAYS? For those three days, did the gates of hell prevail over Christ? The gates of hell did not prevail over Christ, and not over the church during the time it was in apostasy, when the apostles and prophets were no longer on the earth. Even as Christ was resurrected from the tomb, the church was restored in our day. Read again Eph 4: [11] And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: [13] **Till we all come in the unity of the faith** and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: [14] That we henceforth be no more children, **tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive** Without the living apostles and prophets, the church "lay in the tomb" and blown about by every wind of doctrine. Those prophets and apostles have been called by Christ in our day and restored to the church. The Bible says it, I believe it. Christ fulfilled His promise. Hallelujah!
