Seminary teachers

For those who have gone to Seminary for the whole 4 years (not in Utah) how long did the teachers last? Is it normal to be asked to teach Seminary for 4 years?

I don't live in Utah and my wife taught seminary for 8yrs in our home at 5:30am ....:)

I have known teachers in California, Ohio and Nevada who have taught for more than 4 years. Some for more than 10 years. Early morning seminary. Not in their homes like Pale's wife but at the church. Most had a starting time of 6 AM.

I had the same Seminary teacher for all four years of HS (this was in California) and she'd been doing it for several years before that as well.

Wow! Around here we are lucky to have a Seminary teacher last a whole year. They teach at the church building and it starts at 6:00am. There have been 5 teachers in the last 2 years.

Yeah my hometown in northern California was similar to yours Havejoy, but I had only 3 teachers.

We had about 8 seminary teachers and i had a bunch of them throghout higschool just because your schedule would determine who you had i guess...? Almost all of them had been there for a reeeeeally long time.

I am not sure how long we have had our Seminary teacher, but I know it has been over four years.

My instructor taught for over 25 years, he even taught while serving as Bishop. The instructor in our ward now happens to be his son.

Thanks everyone. I was wanting to know because it seems we've always tried to get a 1 year commitment but people change jobs all the time and end up moving away. Yesterday I was asked to make a 4 year commitment and it surprised me. I'm praying about it.

I also have prior commitments for the whole month of September and 3 weeks in November that they are praying about so the offer may be rescinded anyway.

I was in YW for several years and I remember how much I loved those young people so I'm praying we can work something out.

on average, here they last about 4 years and teach in their own homes. I had 2.

i've had 4 and i've only been in seminary for 2 years.. but i am in utah and my class schedule determines what teacher i get

I turned it down. I hope to get asked again when it can be a good fit but for now....
