Competitive cheerleading in Utah.

As a former All-Star cheerleader myself, i've always been curious about cheerleading in "the bubble" so to speak. I know that around here the outfits are borderline pornographic at competitions, are they much different in Utah where a large number of people are LDS? Our All-star team was very conservatively uniformed in comparison to all the other teams, and thank goodness for that because I would hate to miss out on an activity I loved just because the outfits were trashy.

On another note, does BYU have a cheerleading team? I've always wondered that as well.

From what I've seen of BYU cheer costume, the skirts are still short, the sleeves are absent, and tummies are covered, unless the cheerleader raises her arms, to well, you know, cheer. I don't think they look skanky, really, but the costume doesn't conform to BYU's dress code nor to the dress standards I was taught in YW.

I don't know about cheerleading in Utah (or anywhere else, LOL), but it seems right up our LDS alley.

Many of BYU's cheerleaders have gone on to teach cheer camps at a local cheerleading school in Draper, Utah.

I dont know about cheer..but i do know that dance comps are popular out there. My soon to be's oldest is heavily into dance. Apperently there are something like pro teams that are out there. IDK...Guess I have to get used to it since that is usually the next step! Rah Rah Ree!!!!!

What amazed me about the BYU cheer squad when I was up close them was how short they all were.

I dont know about cheer..but i do know that dance comps are popular out there. My soon to be's oldest is heavily into dance. Apperently there are something like pro teams that are out there. IDK...Guess I have to get used to it since that is usually the next step! Rah Rah Ree!!!!!

Dance is becoming quite popular where I live in Idaho. And when you get good, it isn't "Dance" or "Cheer" it becomes "Extreme" dance or cheer. I have also seen "Extreme" soccer. (Not related to Extreme dance or cheer I assume...) I have a young lady in my class who really struggles with academic classes, but she can cheer and dance better than the rest. It is her "gift" or talent. Good for her.

On a side note, here in CO, we want to get our girls into dance classes without dressing them like prostitots. About the only thing we've found is a traditional Celtic dance group which they'll start in January.

Too bad you aren't in Utah. My sister owns a dance studio and their biggest selling point is modesty in costumes.
