POC777 Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Hi, I'm a born-again Christian who has known the LORD for about 10 years. Before coming to Christ, I will go to LDS church to sit in and listen to the Bishops. I did this for a while just to investigate if the Book of Mormon was true. Born-Christians will warn me that Mormonism was not from God but created by Joseph Smith to build "his church". After a month, I left the Church and continued on my spiritual journey. Over the span of 15 years, I examine every religion, paganism, philiosphy, occult, drugs, drinking, sex, had 100's of questions(which were never answered) and the burden of guilt I had was never removed. I wanted to commit suicide on different occassions because my heart was filled with sorrow and wanted to end it all. In 1999, one June afternoon at my sister's apartment I finally surrendered my life to God and gave my life to Jesus Christ. It all began when my sister put on Christian music and as I was listening to it, a pastor came out on the radio and began speaking about Jesus Christ. I listened attentively to every word he said, my sister will encourage me to give up my life to Him about two times. At the third time, I let go of my pride and ignorance, got on my knees and began to cry to the LORD. I confessed all my sin and told the LORD many things I had in my heart, things I never thought will come out my mouth. During that time I poured out my whole heart and soul to Him and I asked Jesus to come into my heart as my LORD and Savior Something amazing happened! The burden of guilt that I felt for over 15 years, suddenly lifted off my shoulders and a sense of peace filled my being. That was God's peace and from that time on I knew I had peace with God, had eternal life and headed to Heaven. On that day, I became a born-again Christian and my life has never been the same ever since. I have been studying the Bible for years now! I'm a apologetic who likes to debate! I am a teacher and evangelist who preaches and teaches the Bible and Gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm currently writing a manuscript called Why Do Christians Walk Away from Jesus Christ? I'll keep you posted! God bless you all! Quote

I am amazed why people of different faiths have that opinion of the church or of Joseph Smith before testing the waters of faith. Quote
rameumptom Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Welcome to the site. The first step for any of us is to be born again in Christ. The Book of Mormon has some wonderful insights on being born again.Alma 7: 14 14 Now I say unto you that ye must repent, and be born again; for the Spirit saith if ye are not born again ye cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore come and be baptized unto repentance, that ye may be washed from your sins, that ye may have faith on the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, who is mighty to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness. Mosiah 27: 2525 And the Lord said unto me: Marvel not that all mankind, yea, men and women, all nations, kindreds, tongues and people, must be born again; yea, born of God, changed from their carnal and fallen state, to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming his sons and daughters;Alma 5: 4949 And now I say unto you that this is the order after which I am called, yea, to preach unto my beloved brethren, yea, and every one that dwelleth in the land; yea, to preach unto all, both old and young, both bond and free; yea, I say unto you the aged, and also the middle aged, and the rising generation; yea, to cry unto them that they must repent and be born again. Our mission is to invite all to "come unto Christ" and be saved in Him.Moro. 10: 30, 32 30 And again I would exhort you that ye would come unto Christ, and lay hold upon every good gift, and touch not the evil gift, nor the unclean thing. • • • 32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.Jacob 1: 77 Wherefore we labored diligently among our people, that we might persuade them to come unto Christ, and partake of the goodness of God, that they might enter into his rest, lest by any means he should swear in his wrath they should not enter in, as in the provocation in the days of temptation while the children of Israel were in the wilderness.Omni 1: 2626 And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved.Any of us, who can help someone repent and embrace Christ can receive his loving grace and be cleansed from sin and be healed. It is wonderful when all Christians can come together and share the joy and light we've received with one another and with others.Once again, welcome. Quote

Maya Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 HiPOC and welcome. I too ionvestigated many different religions and was an active lutheran, but when I found LDS ... I felt the peace in me and I knew I had come home. Enjoy the site. Quote
RainofGold Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 I investigated a lot of churches before converting to the Mormon church. And feel that I found what I was looking for so many years when I was baptized in this church. I am happy for you that you're living a Christian life. There is nothing in this life that will bring us true happiness unless we dedicate our lives and hearts to our Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome to this site I hope you enjoy being part of it.
