With the economic times many people are urging investment in gold. I say unless you have figured out a way to eat gold, don't bother...

Ezekiel 7 : 19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

Diversify. Invest in precious metal, in food, in land, in all you can. But don't do any of this until you have your food storage and a cash financial reserve in the home.

-a-train

Paper and rocks won't feed you, move you, or keep you safe.

Invest in food, water, and things to be used as bargaining tools amoung the masses (alcohol, cigarettes, fuel).

Sweet! Hey TeancumsSword - I challenge you to affix a date to your dire end-times prediction.

On what date, exactly, will precious metal no longer be useful to buy stuff? What date exactly, will private land ownership not give you a safe place to ride out storms?

C'mon - you seem so sure of yourself, you ought to be able to belt out a specific date. By Christmas? By the time our next President is in office? By next 4th of July?
