Michael Spikes05 Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Hey guys! I have been asked to give a talk this sunday in Sacrament. I need some input on where to find good and interesting info on the meaning of Christmas. Can you help?? Thanks Mike Quote
skippy740 Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 What does Christmas mean to you? How do you find meaning in the Christmas Season? [hint: start there] Then when you have the answers to these questions, you can find different DECEMBER Ensign articles on LDS.org to help you illustrate the point. I'm a "Bah Humbug" guy myself - but that's me connecting to Charles Dickens! Quote

Kyra Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 I have found this article by Pres. Hinckley to be a great source for a lot of things.LDS.org - Liahona Article - A Season for GratitudeWe honor His birth. But without His death that birth would have been but one more birth. It was the redemption which He worked out in the Garden of Gethsemane and upon the cross of Calvary which made His gift immortal, universal, and everlasting. His was a great Atonement for the sins of all mankind. He was the resurrection and the life, “the firstfruits of them that slept” (1 Cor. 15:20). Because of Him all men will be raised from the grave. But beyond this He taught us the way the truth, and the life. He gave the keys through which we may go on to immortality and eternal life.We love Him. We honor Him. We thank Him. We worship Him. He has done for each of us and for all mankind that which none other could have done. God be thanked for the gift of His Beloved Son, our Savior, the Redeemer of the world, the Lamb without blemish who was offered as a sacrifice for all mankind. He it was who directed the restoration of this, His work, in this the dispensation of the fulness of times. This is His Church which bears His holy name. Quote

rameumptom Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Focus on the Atonement. The birth of Christ is meaningless, unless placed in the context of Christ's atonement. Try 3 Nephi 1, and then 3 Nephi 11: His birth and then his glorious visit to the Nephites, both of which focus on his atonement. Quote
