Good question....ask Heavenly Mother on the whys. ^_^

It is do to the male pride and not enough for the many faithful sisters to inherit the Celestial Kingdom. It would not be fair them in being rejected in not sitting down with our Heavenly Parents and our beloved Elder Brother, Jesus the Christ. Isaiah saw it in a vision and spoke on this very subject [paraphrase...seven women will take hold one man...].

please forgive me but I dont understand a word you said:confused:

some will tell you it is only due to the plural marriage in the eternities thing..... i think... some of it has to do with the way the sealing is set up. a sealing covenant is made both to your spouse and god. all covenants are through the priesthood, which only men hold. when a sealing is made to go away the man still retains the priesthood but the woman becomes cut off (for lack of a better description). it is to protect the woman and maintain her agency. it allows her to maintain that covenant as long as she wants it (even if her ex husband chooses to remarry). though she is not married according to the law she still can keep her covenants to god and receive the blessings that come with that. only the woman can dissolve the sealing covenant. the man does still have to get permission (from salt lake) before he can be resealed to another.

as i've said before after a divorce the blessings (including eternal marriage) do not exist for the couple, any sealing that is "present" is strictly for their agency to be able to continue to keep their covenant to god.

i know there are some that will say i'm wrong, thus the emphasis on "i think". not sure if i explained that so it makes complete since.

My sister married a guy who had been sealed to his first wife. She broke her temple covenants but nothing that would require excommunication so technically he is still sealed to her. I loved my sister's attitude since I am too jealous and possesive.

She said that she knew her husband loved this woman at one time and the woman must have some good qualities. If, the woman repents and makes it to the celestial kingdom, she would probably be the type of person you would want to be around. So even though the 1st wife is horrible now and has caused lots of grief for them, my sister still has a forgiving heart and accepts that she might share her husband with his 1st wife.

We know that polygamy is probably going to be around. I just try not to think about it and hope I can deal with it better when I am in my perfect state. LOL

PG, I think your sister has a wonderful heart. I think the point also has to be made that when we are in the eterneties that things like jealousy and possesion are really abitrary as it in the long run as those are things that should not determine our salavation.

On personal note my mom was having some difficulties understanding this doctrine as she was trying to figure out the temple work for her deccesed mother. Her mother was married three times to three diffrent men. She was told that she would have to be sealed to all three of them, but it was up to her on the other side on who she would choose which husband she wished to be with. It was also confusing to her as her and one of her other sisters is a half-sister and how this effects them in the sealing of them as a family. But my mom stated she wasn't worried about it that much as she was content in the knowledge that she was sealed to my father. I suppose the best thing to realize is that everything will be worked out in the end.
