applepansy Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I did a quick search of the Scriptures and church publications at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and couldn't find the phrase "sealed up from Satan."Where are you hearing or reading this? I'd like to help you find what you're looking for.applepansy Quote
Hemidakota Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 It is usually referred to those whom the Holy Ghost presented before the Godhead as friends of the Savior or what is called members of the Church of the First Born. They will need to receive the Second Comforter in order to be sealed up from Satan. The caution to this, if unrepented afterwards, they are left without the Light of Christ. Quote
firehotemily Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 Hemidakota....can you explain what you meant in your last post? Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 I think Hemidakota's getting at having one's "calling and election made sure". See here for more on the Second Comforter (both links from the Encyclopedia of Mormonism). Quote

Hemidakota Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 What happened to the three Nephites after the Savior blessed them? Quote
Guest tomk Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Emily:I believe this "being sealed up against the adversary" is a reference to what happens when you receive the Second Comforter (Jesus Christ parts the veil and ministers to you in person)Receiving the Second Comforter constitutes the end of your mortal probation. You still need to remain faithful, but you no longer wonder if you are acceptable in God's eyes or if you are going to "make it back home" to Him. Those questions are irrevocably answered in the affirmative. This being "sealed up against the temptations of the adversary" is described in the Book of Mormon, when Mormon describes the changes wrought inside the 3 Nephites:3 Ne. 28: 37-39 37 But behold, since I wrote, I have inquired of the Lord, and he hath made it manifest unto me that there must needs be a change wrought upon their bodies, or else it needs be that they must taste of death; 38 Therefore, that they might not taste of death there was a change wrought upon their bodies, that they might not suffer pain nor sorrow save it were for the sins of the world. 39 Now this change was not equal to that which shall take place at the last day; but there was a change wrought upon them, insomuch that Satan could have no power over them, that he could not tempt them; and they were sanctified in the flesh, that they were holy, and that the powers of the earth could not hold them.
