HeavyAD Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) I did have more typed before I was shut OFF. I would like to be excomunicated or withdrawn from church records. I got the Melk at 18 and have only been back a couple times since. I would like not being In the church. I am not joking. How do I go about getting off records? I don't hate it or think it evil, but I really do not want to be a part of it. I want to separate myself from it and would like it to end...whatever that means. I would appreciate your help with procedures. Thanks, Bob Edited April 29, 2009 by HeavyAD
Jbs2763 Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 i think all youhave to do is ask your bishop to have your records removed...that is how you woudl start the process at least
Guest Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 I'm fairly sure that's all you need to do - ask the bishop to remove you from the records. I visit taught this one really cool lady who was very nice to us but she just didn't believe in the truth of the church anymore (or maybe she never had, not sure). So, she asked to be removed from the records, and we relayed it to the Bishop and that was that.
Gwen Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 there is nothing anyone on this forum can do to help you with that. you will need to contact your local bishop.
YellowLight Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 The simplest way is to simply fill in your information in the sample letter below and send a copy to your bishop and one to church records. Also, even though it says "no contact" you will get a letter in the mail telling you it is a local ecclesiastical letter and it will include a pamplet called "The Invitation." At this point, you can call church records and have them speed up the process or just wait it out. At any rate, as soon as it is sent in, you are no longer a member. Hope that helps and good luck. Your name Your date of birth Your current address The date Member Records Division, LDS Church 50 E North Temple Rm 1372 SLC UT 84150-5310 This letter is my formal resignation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and it is effective immediately. I hereby withdraw my consent to being treated as a member and I withdraw my consent to being subject to church rules, policies, beliefs and 'discipline'. As I am no longer a member, I want my name permanently and completely removed from the membership rolls of the church. I have given this matter considerable thought. I understand what you consider the 'seriousness' and the 'consequences' of my actions. I am aware that the church handbook says that my resignation "cancels the effects of baptism and confirmation, withdraws the priesthood held by a male member and revokes temple blessings" I also understand that I will be "readmitted to the church by baptism only after a thorough interview". My resignation should be processed immediately, without any 'waiting periods'. I am not going to be dissuaded and I am not going to change my mind. I expect this matter to be handled promptly, with respect and with full confidentiality. After today, the only contact I want from the church is a single letter of confirmation to let me know that I am no longer listed as a member of the church. (you can add any comments or reasons here) Sincerely, Your signature Your name, printed

Having your records withdrawn is another issue. It does require of you to either visit the Bishop and the Stake President, or send a letter to the same requesting your records to be withdrawn and state the issue why. If you wish, do to your own circumstances over the years, you can add such term, "I DO NO WANT TO BE CONTACTED and REQUEST IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWN". A cautious of warning, your standing in the kingdom of GOD is important and does have consequences when we decide for ourselves, what is better for us than what the Creator will for us. The Bishop will make this known to you by council or by letter. As I stated in past on this forum, when judgment is finally cast for this world, those who were excommunicate or reject the gospel and refuse to repent, will be the last ones to receive missionary work and resurrected. It is far worse for them who had the opportunity then those who had not. Once satisfied, the Bishop will complete another form called, Report of Administrative Action. The Bishop will then forward the letter to the Stake Presidency and they will determine the same; forwarding to church headquarters membership department. Hopefully that helps….http://i.azjmp.com/0SbSY
NeuroTypical Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 I remember a few years back, I got to go out with the bishopric and visit members who had requested no church contact. We met several people who were not happy to see us, and demanded to know how to get their names removed. We told each of them the process, which involved writing a letter to the Bishop. None of them ever did it. They chose to not act, so they're still members. (shrug) LM

Tarnished Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Dude, that is pretty funny. Someone requests no church contact, so the church sends people out to contact them.Very often people do not communicate these things very well. My mom moved into a ward like this. She was called as the Relief Society President and given a list of the inactive sisters in her ward, when she went to contact them she discovered that some of them had requested no contact. She made note of this and communicated this with the Bishop. Becasue people in callings move in and out of the callings things do have a tendency to fall between the cracks.

People get caught all the time. Proof is all over. What planet are you on,....bucko. That is not what upsets me. What upsets me is that the people that get caught are given TR a few years later. What is up with that? They only end up doing it again. Yes, it does kind of remind me of how the catholics run things.
