Here in Alberta, it is K-Grade 6 is Elementary, Grades 7 to 9 is Junior High and Grades 10 to 12 is High School. Those poor easterners, forgotten what it's all about to be Canadian. I can imagine what it'll be like in 50 years when Ontario becomes the 51st State. ;)

M.

Maureen,

I would love to have Ontario be our 51st state...lol. Hey, Alberta could be our 52nd one too!!! :P

I used to get asked things like that a lot.

Hello :D

I started my account here mostly to discuss the Gospel and scriptures with other LDS members. This site seems to be a site with those who are familiar with the prophecies and scriptures of the Book of Mormon and Bible.

After studying the Book of Mormon extensively I have come to recognize the great importance of the prophecies of Isaiah that are included many times. Surely all these saw our times, filled with great abundance followed by the sudden calamities foreseen by all the prophets since the world began.

Anyway hope to see you all around here often! :)

Welcome to the site WhispersOfTheMoon. We have a number interesting people here. I noticed that your religion is Presbyterian. To my knowledge you're the first. I very much look foreward to your perspective of things we discuss here. L.H.

 Well, I stole my wife from the Presbyterians.

Awesome! In the Gospel Discussion board I just posted six keys to understanding Isaiah. I'd like to know what you and your father think of them. :)

hello everyone! My name is blazius and I found this forum in an inadvertant way searching the internet. It looks fun here so I thought I'd join.

I'm not LDS, or anything really. I'm kind of searching right now, but since I live in Salt Lake City I find the Mormon influence kind of appealing, especially the emphasis on family.

I would like to get involved with some of the discussions here maybe just to solidify what direction I need to go. I hope its all okay.

Hello blazius!

Desiré

Well, I guess what I should have said in my introduction post is that I like to ask serious and heavy questions. I like to ask them out of curiosity, out of skepticism, but mostly out of the sense to learn.

It seems as though I have already ruffled some feathers among the regulars here who cannot handle some honest and heavy questions. I am not here to start a commotion, as Maureen charged, but to ask questions and learn.

But look, if you people are serious about your religion then maybe you can put aside your pretense and have an honest dialogue about the Mormon faith. After all, isn’t it about winning souls and fighting the good fight?

Thanks,

blazius

You mean you asked questions, got answers, then refused to answer questions in return, but implied that a poster here was going against the Bible by being here...and painting that as "honest and heavy questions". What regulars "can't handle" is trolls.

I think you're a troll, but you might drastically change your approach and prove that wrong.

Greetings.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, though I am also a student of most of the world's religions, including Catholicism, Gnosticism, Judaism, Taoism, Buddhism, and pretty much anything else you could mention. I also follow a philosophy known as "paradigm piracy", where beliefs themselves are seen as tools.

I greatly identify with this statement by Brigham Young:

<blockquote>"It was the occupation of Jesus Christ and his Apostles to propagate the Gospel of salvation and the principles of eternal life to the world, and it is our duty and calling, as ministers of the same salvation and Gospel, to gather every item of truth and reject every error. Whether a truth be found with professed infidels, or with the Universalists, or the Church of Rome, or the Methodists, the Church of England, the Presbyterians, the Baptists, the Quakers, the Shakers, or any other of the various and numerous different sects and parties, all of whom have more or less truth, it is the business of the Elders of this Church (Jesus, their elder brother, being at their head,) to gather up all the truths in the world pertaining to life and salvation, to the Gospel we preach, to mechanism of every kind, to the sciences, and to philosophy, wherever it may be found in every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, and bring it to Zion.

The people upon this earth have a great many errors, and they have also a great many truths. This statement is not only true of the nations termed civilized--those who profess to worship the true God, but is equally applicable to pagans of all countries, for in their religious rights and ceremonies may be found a great many truths which we will also gather home to Zion. All truth is for the salvation of the children of men--for their benefit and learning--for their furtherance in the principles of divine knowledge; and divine knowledge is any matter of fact--truth; and all truth pertains to divinity." - Journal of Discourses 7:283-284</blockquote>

I am also a practitioner of chaos magic, which is an "empty-handed" (without props or tools) form of magic that draws on as many sources as the practitioner cares to choose from. The emphasis in chaos magic is on technique and what gets results. In many respects, chaos magic is the practical application of the philosophy of paradigm piracy.

Some more things about me:

I am currently attending school as a psychology major.

I am engaged to a wonderful Catholic woman, who I hope to marry once I finish school.

I am active in Japanese anime/manga fandom.

I am a regular poster at the message board for the LDS focussed, Foundation for Apologetic Information & Research (FAIR). http://www.fairboards.org/

Anyway, see you around the boards. :)
