Soul_Searcher Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I really want to write to Dieter Uchdorf as he spoke here in the U.K on Sunday for our stake conference, it was broadcast to the whole U.K (What did anyone else think from the U.K?) Well it had a big effect on me and I feel a lot of love for the man and really want to write to him. I dont expect a reply but do they read it?? If its some secretary then I wont bother. Quote
pam Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I would imagine (not that I really know for sure) that it's probably a secretary that opens these. I can't imagine that the men in these positions have the time to open every piece of mail to read them. Just my opinion but what do I know? Quote
beefche Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I think Pam is right. But, I also believe (I've heard it somewhere, but it may be inaccurate) that mail is routed back to the local authorities. Many times people write the GAs with the intent of asking doctrinal or administrative questions and the GAs refer those questions to local leaders. So I don't know how to get a "fan" letter to a GA. Try asking your Stake President? Maybe he knows the special wording to put on the front of the envelope ("Yo Herr Uchtdorf! No questions only kudos" or something ) or where to send it. Quote
miztrniceguy Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 I once wrote a letter to President Monson about 8 yrs ago regarding one of his books. I got a letter back that may have been written by a secretary and signed by him. Quote
skippy740 Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 If they don't read the letters, how do they get such great material for their general conference talks?I dare you to find ONE talk by President Monson that doesn't reference a letter of some kind. Quote
pam Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 Oh my gosh..A dare...a challenge I LOVE it. I will get right on it. Quote

ploomf Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 That means we need to send President Monson more letters Pam! Obviously the poor man needs more material. Come on guys we're failing in our duty to our prophet! Quote
pam Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 Ploomf I like you. You have a wonderful sense of humor and a great wit. Thanks for making me laugh tonight. Quote
ploomf Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 Ah thanks pam, I like your posts too. :) I've had fun tonight, I think this world would be a happier place if people laughed more, sure cheers me up when I need it. Quote

If its some secretary then I wont bother.I felt the same way when I was watching his talk. He is very funny and charming. He also has a wonderful spirit about him. The other speakers were good too. He is welcome to come back and talk again, if he wants. He now officially has my permission. Quote
pam Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 But to Soul_Searcher..heck send your letter. I wouldn't think it a waste of time in either way...at least you've sent your thoughts and who knows? Maybe he will get it. Quote
goofball Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 I would say if you are going to do that then keep a copy of the letter that you are going to send. It would be cool to have the letter you sent as well as any response that you got together. Quote
pam Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 He now officially has my permission. Then I can bet for sure he will be back to speak. Quote
