I facebook, but I've never played it.

I assume you do, marshac?

(BTW, how've you been? Haven't seen you around lately! Hope things are going well for you.)

I didn't either until a few days ago when another member on the site got me involved.

I'm doin OK- the mrs had some contractions the other day (she's @ 26 weeks), and is now on some meds and bed rest (she's doin fine now). Med school applications are also progressing... slowly. :)

I've never been into mobster games, although I've heard lots of people say it's fun.

Hope your wife can hang in there! And good luck finding a med school. I can feel it; you'll do great. :)

Thanks- I also got the melchizedek priesthood the other week, so my wife was like "can't you do a blessing of some sort now?"... so, um, technically I guess so, but the question of the day was "how?" The "Family" handbook didn't help much either :)

Awesome!! Can't help you on how to give blessings- I don't have the Melchezidek priesthood. Maybe posting a topic about it to get some advice from the priesthood holders on the forum will help? I do know that the Lord appreciates faithful attempts by His servants to use His power righteously. Good luck!

And have fun with Mafia Wars. :P

marshac, there are 2 types of blessings you can give. One is for "comfort/blessing." This is basically you providing a blessing to someone for various reasons: to provide counsel, comfort, guidance, etc. Some examples of when you would provide this would be to your child before the school year starts, your wife when she needs comfort for something, your home teacher assignment (the person or family you home teach) when they are struggling with a decision, etc.

The other type of blessing is done for "healing." Typically, this is done when someone is ill and needs a blessing for health. This is done by 2 Melchezidek priesthood holders. One provides the "anointing"--placing a drop of consecrated oil on the person's head to prepare for the blessing. Another priesthood holder, then pronounces the actual blessing.

There are some things you need to know in order to provide either type of blessing. I couldn't find anything on lds.org to help you. Ask your home teacher or Elder's Quorum president for assistance in providing a blessing.

I would think in this particular case, you would need to provide a blessing of "healing." Thus, you'll need another MP holder to assist. Also, "healing" is a relative term :). Sometimes there is actual miracle type healing and sometimes we don't see the healing. I just wanted to let you know in case ya'll are expecting your wife to jump up from her bedrest and run a marathon or something after the blessing.

About mafia wars:

1. I think it's funny that we are talking about priesthood blessings on a thread devoted to a game which promotes robbing, extortion, and killing. :D

2. I don't play it for the reasons in #1. Also, I spend enough time on FB--I don't need another reason to stay up to 1 am on the stupid thing.

3. I have several friends who play it. One actually got a real, live threat from someone. Apparently, she "stole" from this person, the person got ticked off and sent her an email threatening her. My friend had to report this person to FB for a threat. Kinda ironic, isn't it?

What? You all are on facebook and you haven't requested me as a friend? hahahaha

I keep requesting you as a friend, but I get a return message "The person you have requested as a friend keeps ignoring you. Give up. She doesn't like you and never will."

haha mafia wars... I was into that, but once I reached level 100 it got really repetitive and became pretty boring, plus I was spending way to much time on it. I'm the type who has to be very cautious about the game I play because if I'm not careful I will get sucked right in and realize I spent a whole week and that my greatest accomplishment for that week was growing 5 levels in the game, and beating my record for the longest I've ever fasted... haha ya...
