Traveler Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Some time ago I posted about a greater concern that the worse possible associated with global warming - That was an eruption of the world's second largest volcano near the South Pole. Of particular concern is the very recent exculpation of seismic activity in what is called the “ring of fire” on the specific rim. Just so you all know – just this last week there was more carbon greenhouse gasses released (in just one week) than mankind released in the last 25 years. But my greater concern is the specific volcano I mentioned. If there is anyone living near the cost – within 100 miles; I would suggest you have a plan “B” to live somewhere else. If this activity continues thing could get very interesting – economically, politically, socially and religiously. The Traveler Quote
DigitalShadow Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) I've heard this claim about volcanoes from you a few times and have been rather skeptical of it but too lazy to look it up myself. Do you have any sources for that claim that it released more CO2 than was released by mankind over the last 25 years? I did a little searching and can't seem to find any science to back up your claims.I did find this though: Climate 411 » Do Volcanoes Cause Global Warming? - Blogs & Podcasts - Environmental Defense FundCare to refute it or post a source for your claim? sixpacktr Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 If you want the real news on the GW scam, go to Junkscience.com. Just as people are waking up here in the US to what the gov't is doing to us, people are also waking up to the GW scam. IF the gov't will stay the heck out of it, GW will go the way of the hole in the ozone that was going to grow so large (and we heard this day after day not 20 years ago) that it was going to become a black hole and all of us were going to die. Now??? When was the last time you heard of the 'ozone hole'? How arrogant we are to think we can destroy this place... Quote
talisyn Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Well, not that I think global warming is really happening, but have you noticed the attention span of the average person? The holes in the ozone layer are old news. Quote
sixpacktr Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 but have you noticed the attention span of the average person? It is exactly 8 mins long. Then we want a commercial so that we can get a soda pop (), pop some popcorn, take a pee, whatever. Gnats are more focused than we are anymore... Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 Some interesting developments in the global warming discussion, brought to you via the BBC. Quote
annewandering Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 I am more concerned at the moment that there are lots of huge earthquakes in the far east and few on this part of the fire circle. Usually if there are major earthquakes anywhere in the world there are corresponding quakes around the ring to balance them out. Not so lately. By lately I mean in the last 3 or 4 months. Quote
