President Monson: Most Powerful Octogenarian in America

Is it wrong that the title of the thread made me immediately think of the songs from the musical Les Miserable detailing when Valjean lifted the wagon off one man (titled: The Runaway Cart) and the confrontation between Valjean and Javert (titled creatively enough: Confrontation)? The lines would be, "A man your age, to be as strong as you are..." and "There is power in me yet, my race is not yet run!", from The Runway Cart and Confrontation respectively.

Doesn't seem to be much reason to the rankings. I mean Jack Kevorkian (with the power to help terminally ill people kill themselves) trumps a formula president of the USA.

Actually it isn't Kervorkian. It is Kirk Kerkokian, who, according to Wiki, is the richest man in Los Angeles.
