hey guys! I just wanted to share a link to a music blog I have been writing. Its been fun! But I'm trying to get more people to check it out. Its a music blog for anyone and everyone with 'user-friendly' descriptions of the bands. Its kind a few months old, but check it out, and feel free to comment on it. My idea is to expose people to cool music that gets unnoticed. So take a look at it, and if you know anyone who would like it, pass the link to them! Ok?

Also, we can use this thread to discuss music in general. What has everyone been listening to?

yeah, I do!!! For sure....

You should check out Amiina. They are an Islandic minimalistic intrumental band. If you know Sigur Ros, Amiina did the string arrangements for two or three of their albums. They are great! They make this really neat music in some pretty inconventional ways. They music has some very childlike innocence and its pretty magical. I highly recommend it. Check out their website at Amiina and their myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/amiina

I think I may have a different idea of instrumental music than you though. What kind of instrumental music? Do you mean like classical music? Orchestral music? rock/post rock with instrumental influences??? if you explain to me, I can narrow things down for you - although if you are looking for classical or orchestral, I'm pretty weak on the subject X_x

I'm looking for maybe bits of piano with violin or piano with string instruments, or something like that, I don't want something with too much of a beat, I'm trying to find music for a dance piece that I am creating for next year as part of my studies.

you should check out Sufjan Stevens. He is an american singer-songwriter. He is incredible when it comes to that kind of stuff. He uses a large array of instruments. He tends to lean more towards folk music, but he is incredibly great. I'm sure wyou would find something good about him.

Has anyone here heard of Mindy Gledhill? I absolutely love her stuff. Search for my favorite Mindy Gledhill song, "A Little More Like Thee," at CleanVisit.com, a safe, family friendly search engine.

Her music is really peaceful and her voice has both the subtleties and power to convey great passion.

Actually, I really like all of her music.

If your still looking for instrumental stuff Sufjan was commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Music to compose something. He did a instrumental piece and filmed a backdrop and did one live performance for the celebration.

And for anyone interested here is a taste of his latest tour.

This is from the U.S. leg of the tour. He just started the European tour.

Here is his latest album. Listen for free.

Those are the only artists on your list that I've heard of. (I've never seen so many smilies to choose from in my life.)

Nothing like resurrecting an old thread. :)

I had to. I love Sufjan and this thread mentioned him so I couldn't stop myself from posting with some untimely current info for daenvgiell regarding Sufjan. Also Ezequiel's blog is cool and worth checking out.

Ezequiel's posed the question originally. "What is everyone listening to?"

Besides Sufjan's

I've just broken out
from last summers release and I am test driving Paul Simon's new album
.

:oI'm not that old.

Sufjan is 35. Most of his fans are around my age. It's not really young peoples music. It seems mostly college kids and up at his concerts.

You trying to give me a complex because my birthday is a couple days? :sarcastic.smartass:
