seamusz Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 While sitting here, at work, I have an artist named Nick Drake Playing on my machine. He is one of the most musically pleasing artists I have ever listened too. His album Pink Moon is one of the greatest albums ever, imo. Beautiful and mellon collie, anyone would love this album. Just thought I'd share. Quote

Outshined Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 When I want mellow, pleasing music, I reach for some Diana Krall. Very talented, and the fact that she's beautiful is a bonus. B) Otherwise I'm likely to be listening to something loud, like Metallica. Quote
Setheus Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 He was a hard-headed man he was brutally handsome And she was terminally pretty She held him up and he held for ransom In the heart of the cold, cold city He had a nasty reputation as a cruel dude They said he was ruthless said he was crude They had one thing in common They were good in bed She said, ’faster, faster. ’the lights are turning red.’ Life in the fast lane Surely make you lose your mind Life in the fast lane Are you with me so far? Eager for action hot for the game The calling attraction the drop of the name They knew all the right people They took all the right pills They threw outrageous parties They paid heavenly bills There were lines on the mirror, lines on her face She pretended not to notice she was caught up in the race Out every evening until it was light He was too tired to make it she was too tired to fight about it Life in the fast lane Surely make you lose your mind Life in the fast lane Life in the fast lane Everything all the time Life in the fast lane Glowing and burning blinded by thirst They didn’t see the stop sign Took a turn for the worse She said, ’listen baby. you can hear the engine rev. ’we’ve up and down this highway, haven’t seen a ******* thing.’ He said, ’call the doctor. I think I’m gonna crash.’ ’the doctor say he’s coming but you gotta pay in cash.’ They were rushing down that freeway, Messed around and got lost They didn’t care they were just dieing to get off and it was Life in the fast lane Surely make you lose your mind Life in the fast lane Quote
Setheus Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 Take a look at the mountain Stretching a mile high Take a look at the ocean Far as your eye can see And think of Me Take a look at the desert Do you feel like a grain of sand? I am with you wherever Where you go is where I am And I’m always thinking of you Take a look around you I’m spelling it out one by one I love you more than the sun And the stars that I taught how to shine You are Mine and you shine for Me too I love you yesterday and today And tomorrow I’ll say it again and again I love you more Just a face in the city Just a tear on a crowded street But you are one in a million And you belong to Me And I want you to know I’m not letting go Even when you come undone I love you more than the sun And the stars that I taught how to shine You are Mine and you shine for Me too I love you yesterday and today And tomorrow I’ll say it again and again I love you more Shine for Me Shine for Me Shine on, shine on Shine for Me I love you more than the sun And the stars that I taught how to shine You are Mine and you shine for Me too I love you yesterday and today Through the joy and the pain I’ll say it again and again I love you more I love you more Than you can imagine More than you can fathom I love you more than the sun And you shine for Me Quote
shanstress70 Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 My DH loves his music too. I haven't listened to him much, but just looked him up. Did you know that he died in 1974? He wasn't REALLY appreciated until decades after his death. I think that's strange. I'll have to listen to him. Quote

Things Behind The Sun by: Nick Drake Please beware of them that stare They'll only smile to see you while Your time away And once you've seen what they have been To win the earth just won't seem worth Your night or your day Who'll hear what I say. Look around you find the ground Is not so far from where you are But not too wise For down below they never grow They're always tired and charms are hired From out of their eyes Never surprise. Take your time and you'll be fine And say a prayer for people there Who live on the floor And if you see what's meant to be Don't name the day or try to say It happened before. Don't be shy you learn to fly And see the sun when day is done If only you see Just what you are beneath a star That came to stay one rainy day In autumn for free Yes, be what you'll be. Please beware of them that stare They'll only smile to see you while Your time away And once you've seen what they have been To win the earth just won't seem worth Your night or your day Who'll hear what I say. Open up the broken cup Let goodly sin and sunshine in Yes that's today. And open wide the hymns you hide You find reknown while people frown At things that you say But say what you'll say About the farmers and the fun And the things behind the sun And the people round your head Who say everything's been said And the movement in your brain Sends you out into the rain. Place To Be by: Nick Drake When I was younger, younger than before I never saw the truth hanging from the door And now I'm older see it face to face And now I'm older gotta get up clean the place. And I was green, greener than the hill Where the flowers grew and the sun shone still Now I'm darker than the deepest sea Just hand me down, give me a place to be. And I was strong, strong in the sun I thought I'd see when day is done Now I'm weaker than the palest blue Oh, so weak in this need for you. From The Morning by: Nick Drake A day once dawned, and it was beautiful A day once dawned from the ground Then the night she fell And the air was beautiful The night she fell all around. So look see the days The endless coloured ways And go play the game that you learnt From the morning. And now we rise And we are everywhere And now we rise from the ground And see she flies And she is everywhere See she flies all around So look see the sights The endless summer nights And go play the game that you learnt From the morning. Lindy Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother The road is long With many a winding turn That leads us to who knows where Who knows when But I'm strong Strong enough to carry him He ain't heavy, he's my brother So on we go His welfare is of my concern No burden is he to bear We'll get there For I know He would not encumber me He ain't heavy, he's my brother If I'm laden at all I'm laden with sadness That everyone's heart Isn't filled with the gladness Of love for one another It's a long, long road From which there is no return While we're on the way to there Why not share And the load Doesn't weigh me down at all He ain't heavy, he's my brother He's my brother He ain't heavy, he's my brother... -Written by B. Lindy Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Honesty If you search for tenderness it isn't hard to find. You can have the love you need to live. But if you look for truthfulness You might just as well be blind. It always seems to be so hard to give. Honesty is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue. Honesty is hardly ever heard. And mostly what I need from you. I can always find someone to say they sympathize. If I wear my heart out on my sleeve. But I don't want some pretty face to tell me party lies. All I want is someone to believe. Honesty is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue. Honesty is hardly ever heard. And mostly what I need from you. I can find a lover. I can find a friend. I can have security until the bitter end. Anyone can comfort me with promises again. I know, I know. When I'm deep inside of me don't be too concerned. I won't ask for nothin' while I'm gone. But when I want sincerity tell me where else can I turn. Because you're the one I depend upon. Honesty is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue. Honesty is hardly ever heard. And mostly what I need from you. Billy Joel Quote
Outshined Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 "Kiki Le Cat" by Heywood Banks Oh monsieur le Kiki is a very fine cat With a small little head and a little party hat He sits very quietly on the televison set, Oh monsieur Le Kiki Le Cat He ate a robin he ate a wren He ate a tufted titmouse and then a wren again He's stuffed with feathers like was back then Oh monsieur Le Kiki Le Cat In the days before there was cable T.V. The reception in the area was bad on channel 3 Unless the kitty coincidentally sat upon the television Oh the cat did die and oh how we did grieve But thanks to taxidermy, he's gone but didn't leave With a tinfoil flag on his tail eternally The recpetion is exceptional upon channel 3 Oh monsieur le Kiki is a very fine cat With a small little head and a little party hat He sits very quietly on the televison set, Oh monsieur Le Kiki Le Cat Quote
Outshined Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 If Pigs Had Wings If pigs had wings away they'd fly up into heaven oh, so high If pigs had wings away they'd soar up in through heavens golden door Oh, look up yonder on the telephone line just a snortin & a gruntin it's a flock of swine If pigs had wings and birds had none my windshield wipers would barely run (oink, oink, oink, oink) If flying pigs all became the rage we'd keep them all in a little piggie cage Just hanging in the kitchen right near the sink so if they'd get thirsty they could have a piggie drink When it's hunting season on flying hogs it's such a strain on my retriever dogs Above the lake I shot one down The hog swam off my puppy drowned If pigs had wings away they'd fly up into heaven oh so high If pigs had wings away they'd soar up in through heaven's golden doors... Outshined Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 How about a Christmas song? "You Ain't Gettin' Diddly-Squat" (Hey, kids, gather 'round! Heywood's gotta little song for ya here!) Oh, I just got a message from 'ol Saint Nick way up in Christmasland And he says the toys for good girls and boys are being made as planned There's a truck for little Billy and a dolly for Molly, dear, But you ain't gettin' diddly squat 'cause you really messed up this year! (No, you ain't gettin' diddly squat 'cause you really messed up this year!) Oh, the winter fields are white with snow and the lights are shining bright And the wee little heads tucked up in bed dream of sugar plums this night You may dream of big red apples and candy canes so near, But you ain't gettin' diddly squat 'cause you really messed up this year! (No, you ain't gettin' diddly squat 'cause you really messed up this year!) (Fa-la-la-la-you're in trouble! Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la!) When your mother asked you to wash the dishes, Why, you said, "No no no!" And you did not pick up your socks So it's "que sera", horse-face! HO-HO-HOOOOOOOOOO! Oh, you know that Santa's watching you and he keeps a great big list But, when I tell him the things you've done, he REALLY will be....mad! When you sit upon his knee, he'll knock ya on your ear 'Cause you ain't gettin' diddly squat 'cause you really messed up this year! No, you ain't gettin' diddly squaaaaaaaaaaaaa...........T! pushka Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Most of the time when I want to listen to something relaxing, I put on Gary Moore: Ballads and Blues...the songs might not be very uplifting, but they really 'speak' to me...I can relate to them... I also love my Dylan stuff and Van Morrison, and Thin Lizzy have some wonderful ballads! Btw, I prefer the Bowie version of Man Who Sold the World...the album of the same name really rocks! it's superb!!! Crying in the Shadows...Gary Moore: Sometimes he sees her walking by He never looks her in the eye She doesn't know, she doesn't care What he is feeling And as she turns to walk away There is nothing he can say She doesn't know Why should she care? When he's alone, she's never there to see him Crying in the shadows Of a love he used to know But now it's all over Crying in the shadows Of someone he called his own But now he's all alone again Sometimes she sees him walking by She never looks him in the eye He doesn't know, he doesn't care What she is feeling As he turns to walk away There is nothing she can say He doesn't know Why should he care? When she's alone, he's never there He leaves her Crying in the shadows Of a love she used to know But now it's all over Crying in the shadows Of someone she called her own But now she's all alone again Well, he can see it in her eyes And she can fell it in her heart Yes, they can feel it in their hearts It's tearing them apart Over and over again Crying in the shadows Of a love he used to know But now it's all over Crying in the shadows Of someone she called her own But now she's all alone Crying in the shadows Of a love they used to know But now it's all over Crying in the shadows Of a love they used to know But now they're all alone again Crying in the shadows Crying in the shadows, of love Crying in the shadows Crying in the shadows, of love Crying in the shadows Crying in the shadows, of love Crying in the shadows Crying in the shadows, of love Crying in the shadows Crying in the shadows, of love Crying in the shadows Crying in the shadows, of love Quote
