My 18 month old daughter will often look into empty space and start waving....

My wife shared a story with me when I got home from work yesterday....

My daughter and wife were eating lunch, my daughter was eating and suddenly stopped and looked up. She looked past my wife (she said that she looked like she was focusing on a point just past our island in our kitchen), and she started to wave, smile and giggle....

Now I am not sure if she has an imaginary friend or if it was perhaps one of her "Guardian Angels", but it brought the question to my mind as to how thin the veil is for small children, and if it is gradually closed or if we choose to close it...

Just one of those things that make you say :hmmm:

I believe this definitely happens, more than we have any clue to.

We have to remember that our young children have just came from the presence of our Father in Heaven. I have often heard it said that maybe that is why they take a while to learn to talk, they have to have time to completely close the veil between them. That is not church doctrine, but just speculation on people's part.

I often think of Christ's visit with the Nephites, when he opened the mouths of the babes and they expounded all manner of sacred doctrine unto their parents and the adults in attendance. The scriptures said some of it was even greater than what Christ had said. What an experience that must have been.

It makes me think that they had to have had prior knowledge of that doctrine to say it. (Again speculation on my part) But, what a tremendous experience to be witness too and how great the spirit must have been in that group that day?

There is much that we do not yet understand and I will be grateful for the day when the eyes of my understanding are opened to it.

Mine did it as well...

My mother told me about a light she would often see over my head when I was less than 6 months old; late at night laying in my crib... she said I appeared to be conversing with someone in the light.

I was told that children can still see through the veil because they are such sweet innocent spirits. That would make me wonder if they can reconnect through the veil..... :D

Two neet stories to add...

Just after my marrage ended, I was in a battered woman's shelter with my two small children (then 4 & 5), I saw a Baptist church accross the street from the shelter...so, that first sunday that I was in the shelter, I decided to walk accross the street and check it out. On my way to the church, my daughter tugged at my arm and said, "Momma, Jesus told me to tell you that everything is going to be allright." I gave her a week smile and promptly dismissed what she had just said. That afternoon, the pastor and his wife invited my kids and I to Old Country Buffet for lunch. As I was getting plates for my two children...a stranger came up to me and said, " Ma'am, this may sound weired...but the Holy Spirit has impressed upon me to tell you that Jeuse said everything is going to be allright." I almost dropped those plates! He used the EXECT words that my daughter had used that morning! That was 5 years before I converted to LDS.

Another insignificant, but cute story...

When my kids were little, I used to tell them that the reason they had that little divett under their nose is because when they were in my tummy...they knew all the secrets of the universe...and the Angel put his finger there and said, " Shhhh....Don't tell anybody, they have to figure it out on their own!" That too, was years before I converted to LDS and had any clue about the pre-existence.

I believe God had already prepared my heart to except this gospel LONG before I took the leap of faith to call the 800# and ask for a free BoM, and excepted the missionaries into my home.

That is adorable! I've never heard of that before. Did you make that up? I'm going to remember that for when I have grandkids, if ever! (My kids aren't complying in that department.)

Studies show most children see things that aren't there. That's why so many of them have imaginary friends.

I remember seeing hands holding out boxes of chocolate to me, and being really confused, and mad, when I'd reach for one and it would disappear! :(

My wife would trip out about my 1 year old daughter doing that stuff. But, the most vivid situation to my family is when my 2 year old sister awoke my mom in the middle of the night and told her that her father was in her room and she wanted a certain doll to show him. My mother was much to afraid to go with my sister and gave her the doll which was in my mother's room. She heard her talking and laughing as if my father had been there. My father died when my sister was 5 months old.

I have a story.

When one of my boys was about 4-5 months old, we were at church in the RS room. I was holding him up to where he could see over my shoulder. He had been very cranky. I noticed that he appeared suddenly quite quiet and had a huge smile on his face. I was curious as to who or what he was smilling at since we were sitting in the back row. I turned around to look and there was a large picture of Christ on the wall. He was smiling at the picture. Now if that doesn't prove that we knew Christ before we came here I don't know what does.
