so, when I first saw this site I lolled so hard. I didn't think such a thing would exist. The only other forum I've been on for a great deal of time is INTP central, and as much as I greatly identify with my INTPness I think this forum will be much more interesting, or at least in a different way.

I think it's interesting being an INTP in such an ESFJ religion, and in some ways, my own opinions about a lot of things I tend to disregard. I guess I mostly came here so I could observe.

Honestly, my expectations are...not too happy. I'm expecting to find a bunch of close minded conservatives. At least that seems to be my experience with everyone other mormon I've met. I am more than willing to be proved wrong, though.

As I said, I'm more of an observer, so don't expect a huge amount of posting.

You profile states you are LDS. You don't sound like it..but anyway..welcome to the site.

Do tell, I've always been told I don't seem like much of a mormon, why didn't I seem like it to you?

Nahhh that's okay. I'm probably just one of those close minded conservative Mormons that you are so ready to assume we are. I'll let you prove me wrong on my assumption.

ah, I've insulted you. I see.

Well sorry about that. I try not to fall into the habit of making generalizations, but I'm afraid there's a little Max Hall in all of us :)

I don't see how you can identify the Mormon religion by character traits developed to identify individual people's personalities. The test was meant for individuals, not organizations.

Sorry, but with the exception of me and a few others, everyone here is a close-minded conservative. :P

Okay, that's not really true, but we do have some lively debates between the conservatives and liberals.

Enjoy!

I suppose I am a closeminded... what everitwas... welcome anyway to prove taht I am wrong.:P

So officially:

Welcome to LDS.net. You will find here an ecclectic mix of LDS and some non-members. While the site is dedicated to the Gospel, and to promoting the Church to a world that often does not understand us, we also make room for conversations about current events, and about social and cultural practices within the Church. If your main desire is to learn about the Church, consider starting with the "Learn About Mormonism" forums. For more advanced teachings, that will often include a variety of perspectives, some non-LDS, consider the Gospel section of forums.

While you are welcome to all main sections, be aware this site makes room for a variety of opinions and personalities. Some posters can be passionate about their views, and occasionally more so about them than about the souls of visitors. If you find something particularly offensive, feel free to make a report by clicking the appropriate tab.

Welcome, Shmrie.

Have you considered that you may find exactly what you're looking for simply because that's what you expect to find? That seems to be the very definition of closed-mindedness, which is the very thing you're accusing people you've never met of.

I can promise you that the vast majority of conversations that lean towards politics will result in a very conservative standpoint by the majority of members. This is because the most extreme viewpoints tend to be the loudest. That's not a fault of religion. It's a fault of humanity.

If you don't want to address conservatism in a religion that has a lot of members in the American West(Which is notoriously conservative), then you probably shouldn't begin political conversations on here.

If you don't mind me saying so, you seem like someone who is using a bombastic attitude to justify an almost craving you seem to have to either offend or be offended.

I'd recommend relaxing, not taking it too seriously and learning to love everyone on here for who they are. I certainly have failed at that more than once, but it's still the best way to go. ;)
