bcguy Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 He came to British Columbia for the youth culture dance and also to dedicate the temple here. I think there was approximately 2,000-2,500 people at the Langley convention center if that's what its called. Surprisingly, President Monson has a bit of a sense of humor and a bit of a ham unlike his Serious speeches which he makes :) Was anyone here at the youth ceremony dance? It was pretty neet. showed kids and I mean alot of youth dressed up in cloths from different erras from the 1800s to the 1960s doing there dances including native Indian dances with Heida outfits on. If anyone video recorded it I would like to see it. KSL TV Camera operator was there to record it. Quote
Dravin Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 Surprisingly, President Monson has a bit of a sense of humor and a bit of a hamI find this extremely unsurprising. The man has a good sense of humor. Quote
pam Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 Surprisingly, President Monson has a bit of a sense of humor He has always had an awesome sense of humor...maybe not the wit of President Hinckley, but a funny man in his own right. Some of his stories are hilarious. Quote
prisonchaplain Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 Funny...I don't recall bumping into him when I made my visit . . . Quote
john doe Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 The dance celebrations seem to be something that Pres Monson likes to see. We had two with similar themes but different performers on back to back nights in Salt Lake City to celebrate the two new temples in the valley last year. He seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself during them. Quote
prisonchaplain Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 With all this talk of dancing, y'all are just providing fodder for the ANTIS...be warned: What Does the Bible Say About Dancing? Quote
marts1 Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 I don't really see too much of a problem with that article. Quote
Moksha Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 With all this talk of dancing, y'all are just providing fodder for the ANTIS...be warned: What Does the Bible Say About Dancing? Don't worry, during Church services we nothing even remotely inciting any toe tapping. Quote
Dravin Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 (edited) I don't really see too much of a problem with that article.Well if the dance celebrations included male with female dancing then it is unacceptable according to that article. At least that's the only obvious conflict I can see on a quick read. Edited May 3, 2010 by Dravin Quote
marts1 Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Don't think it said anywhere that it was unacceptable. Maybe I missed it. Quote
Dravin Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Don't think it said anywhere that it was unacceptable. Maybe I missed it.Their conclusion is:Is all dancing sinful? We have shown that it is not. Celebration dances that don’t mix the sexes, husbands and wives dancing privately, and innocent children’s dances (for example, holding hands and dancing in a circle) produce no illicit thoughts or behavior. But such dancing is not the norm. Most dancing, as even the experts in the field will tell you, is designed to produce sinful passions. And sinful passions lead to sin. Quote
