What would a person's intentions be if she quit smoking a year ago

and then take up this thing now?

Not sure how many people posting are smokers or ex-smokers. Smoking is a two part addiction. Physical which really can get out of your system rather quickly, and then there is the mental component. Quitting takes a true desire to quit, you have ot do it for you if it's going to last. Not cause you join the church, not cause you family or friends pressure, you have to quit for you. Even after that point there can and will be trigger events that will drive you to wanting to go back. Now stuff like the e-smokes are lil ways people have to try and engage in something near to the actions and motions of the addiction without going back to it full force, it's a crutch, but one that is used to aid in times of weaker will power.

I could not have explained it better myself.

I quit (No more cigs) back in 1868.

(off and on for a year previously)

and I did not really get

out of it (no desire for it) till 1971.

For a year after I quit, if they had

invented the E-smoke, I would have

remained hooked on this behavior

only the Lord knows how long.

Believe me, I do not need more. . .

But not all people are you, and if this actually keeps the person from fully lapsing i say it's a good thing. I would possibly say good job for finding the between rather than just giving in and going back.

How about candy cigarettes?

Should we bring them back?

If it keeps the kids from doing the real thing then. . .

But do you think it will.

Is E-Cigs grown up Candy Cigs?

I hear they are planning on flavoring them.

E cigarette flavors, e juice flavors, e liquid flavors, flavor drops, water flavoring, flavored coffee, flavored tea

So we find it better to brow beat her and make her feel small rather than look at the attempt to try and stay on the straight and narrow? Not sure i see a point in making her feel bad and belittling her attempt at making a stand half way instead of just giving in. Just not really sure i see any support for the person vs judging the actions, at this rate she might as well just smoke and be done with it because it seems there would be no difference in peoples minds?

She had quit for a year.

I did not "browbeat or belittle" her.

I only told her what I thought she was

really up to rather she knew what she was trying to do or not.

Her intention was to slide back into slavery

and try to avoid the consequences.

I do not think it will work.

I guess i wonder two things. Did she ask for the opinion and did she state that it was her intention to slip back into slavery? If no to either or both of those then it's a matter of making an assumption for assumptions sake. Assuming you know her heart and motives seems like a pointless exercise. If she asked the opinion then you gave it and time to let her go. Her life, her choices. As a smoker you know how hard it is and a year, two years , 10 years, sometimes there's a reason we go back. You are still holding strong, which is great, so far she's doing her darnedest to avoid the real thing. I can say if they had these when i went back to smoking i might never have gone back to the real thing. The people i know who use them use them much less that real smokes and seem to be in more control. Can we not possibly find good at all or must we just focus on the bad and possibly make over reaching assumptions? I do understand your concerns by i find my mother is my best example. She keeps trying to quit cause my dad makes her miserable about her smoking, but then does nothing to help her quit. So either he harps and brings her to tears or she tries and he makes her miserable because he won't put up with the stuff that comes with someone quitting, which is worse? I find understanding and hand holding a lil better than assuming motives and making suggestions as to the desires of some one else. Not saying that's what's going on, just hoping it's not.

I see now how you got that assumption from me. Sorry about your dad and mom.

Yes to one of those questions.

We have been friends from the time I was a teenager.

Never dated though.

She never ordered the unit.

Still not smoking,

She is healing from a serious hospital operation

and needs all the oxygen she can get.

She is on oxygen as a matter of fact.

I wish I still lived near her.

Better to talk in person.

Candy cigs taste delicious and only come in 2 forms, candy cigs, and these 3 square things about the size of a stick of gum with monster faces on them. Used to get them at Halloween time but i haven't seen them in years. (anyone know what they are called where to get them?).

As far as E cigs are concerned i cant imagine someone would go from the pure drug in a clean tasty form to the drug with a "nasty taste" and with a whole lot of cancer causing agents. If that is the concern then we need to look at nicoret, commit and all other nicotine replacement therapy's.

I had no idea 'E-cigarettes' existed or what they were before this thread.

But they're selling cialis and weight loss drugs through E-cigarettes?

So... Just so I can confirm:

Smoking now makes you a powerhouse in bed with your lawfully wedded spouse.

Smoking makes you skinny and sexy.

It is now not unhealthy.

I believe I have just been checkmated. Now, all I need is an E-cigarette that lets me inhale oxytocin: The cuddle hormone.

Then, smoking will make me a sexy powerhouse in bed who falls madly in love at the drop of a hat and loves hugging and cuddling and being close.

Then, toss in whatever hormone makes you want to do the dishes and I'll basically be the perfect husband.

Wow! You are quite a bit older than I thought! And it took 103 years to get rid of the desire! You should be proud of yourself for resisting the urge for that long!:D
