I just found this on the internet. It's about the earth getting two suns in 2012.

Jorden får to sole i 2012 -  GoWild News - FÃ¥ overblikket over dagens vildeste nyheder

translated part:

"It's one of the most bright stars on the sky, Betelgues, that's about to lose mass, wich could indicate that it's about to "collapse", wich again could mean that the star is a "supernova".

When that happens, the earth will get two suns on the sky. at least in some weeks, tells Brad Carter. And possibly there won't be night in a period"

Sounds alot like when Christ was born to me, and i have something in my mind telling me that there was some relation to that sign and the second coming. Then again, i could be wrong.

What do you think/know about this?

I know that suns have millions of years of life. Predicting a stars demise within a year or two accuracy is very unlikely.

It has swelled, however, and could very well explode. But there is literally no way someone can guarantee it. Might be right. Might be wrong.

Well, it seems that they have observed supernovas many times before, so they propably knows how it reacts before it happens :)

Who is this mysterious 'They'?

We do know how suns react before they explode. And it can take many many thousands of years to happen.

Here are some articles that back me up:

Who "they" are? i believe it would be astronomers :P

From i can see from a google search, astronomers observe hundreds of supernovas each year, some say about 500 :)

But then again, that wasn't what the question was about

Perfect! I'm glad you clarified.

Because Astronomers are the ones who are saying that we have no idea when that sun will Supernova, or even if it will. It's large enough to, but it could also collapse to a brown dwarf or neutron star after blowing off a large portion of its outer shell.

So, like most scientists/astronomers, I have no idea if it will go Supernova in the next year or two. Or thousand. Or million. Could be, but there's no way to know.

Well, i have no idea, just thought it sound familiar to the sign of the birth of christ, so it got my attention :)

and i remembered that i thought of something related to the sign of the birth in the second coming... just can't remember what it was

One theory is that the Star given at the time of Jesus' birth was a supernova. If a supernova was about 600 light years from earth it is possible that enough radiation from the supernova would cause the o-zone to fluoresce - This is one possible explanation for there being no night in the America’s. Since the entire sky would be giving off light there would be no shadows. Also such a supernova would be visible during the day.

Matt chapter 24 mentions that when Jesus comes the 2nd time that the sign of his coming will appear in the sky. I have speculated that the sign spoken of concerning his second coming will be the same sign of his coming as was given the first time. It appears to be as much understanding of this currently as there was among the Jews when Jesus was born.

However, as other have posted - I would not hold your breath for 2012.

Why not? I'd say lets all take a collective deep breath, hold and wait. We won't want to be alive when we get fried anyhow :D

*holding breath* oh wait when were we suppose to start?

The star in the NT is not described as being bright or remarkable, except that it was his star in the east.

The AT (that's Another Testament AKA the Book of Mormon) does mention a new star "such an one as ye have never beheld." You can read that as a previously unknown star, or else a very remarkable star - different from all others. There is also a day, night, day without night, which may or may not have been linked to the star. And this star may not have been the same star as that seen by the wise men.

The point being that we usually assume it's the same star, when that might not be the case. And we like the classic nativity image of a massive star visible to anyone who looks in the sky, but that's not necessarily a valid assumption (sometimes I wonder if his star ever left the sky).

To address the OP, your musings are not that unheard of in LDS circles:

I wonder when he comes again,

Will herald angels sing?

Will earth be white with drifted snow,

Or will the world know spring?

I wonder if one star will shine

Far brighter than the rest;

Will daylight shine the whole night through?

Will songbirds leave their nests?
