pam Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 I actually took my sons out of scouting due to the cost. I just couldn't afford it based on a single mother's income. Having twin boys it was double of everything. The cost of uniforms, having to pay for activities, $100 per scout to go to the week long scouting trip..was just too much for me. Quote
skippy740 Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 I'm gonna have to read this thread in more detail as I was just called to be the Assistant Cubmaster and Assistant Webelos leader. Our ward does certain food sales 2x a year for "Friends of Scouting". What I can't stand about it, is that the leaders keep saying that we have our FOS drive. FOS is not an official LDS acronym, so my mind thinks it means something else... :) Quote
Blackmarch Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Okay, this is kind of the reason I'm here at the board because we recently had a Scout meeting in my ward where the subject of how pricey it is came up.I know the Church pays for it all, but does anyone have any tips for staying within a reasonable budget?I seem to recall doing various fundraiser projects back when i was in scouts fairly often before a big event. I wonder if your boys were registered in the ward unit unbeknownst to you... Quote
