KrazyKay Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 I really love the local news here.... not. They have nothing about this quake *rolls eyes at the local Houston news* I'll be praying for those affected by this quake. Quote

Nothing on MSN either. thank you lizrowden for letting us know. Quote
MorningStar Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 I heard it first from my dad's cousin. I feel so bad for her! She made me laugh last night though when she said she held onto her new TV. Her daughter asked if her books feel off the shelves again and a friend said, "Your parents don't care about your books." Quote
lizrenowden Posted June 13, 2011 Author Report Posted June 13, 2011 Just watched the six o'clock news and no mention of it. Good news though is that there are no fatalities. Quote
ADoyle90815 Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 I guess if you live in an area where earthquakes are a common thing such as California, the news would mention any earthquake or aftershock. Yes, the local news did mention did mention the aftershocks in New Zealand. Quote
Traveler Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 My biggest concern about geological activity in the southern hemisphere is the possible connections to the super volcano near the South Pole. If that volcano should erupt and melt the anarchic ice cap the oceans would rise 12 to 20 feat and 80% of the world's population would have to find another place to live. The prophesy would be fulfilled about the seas overflowing and I would have to start repenting much more often to stay ahead of things. The Traveler Quote

The TravelerI'm sorry... and I'm certainly not picking on you, Traveler. But I giggled out loud at the very Freudian-like misspelling of Antarctic. If indeed this event were to play out, as you describe, the impact to law and order and geography would be very "anarchic" in nature, I would think. :) Quote

I hardly think an earthquake in New Zealand will light one off. It's more complicated than that. Quote
Traveler Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 There are over two dozen volcano's down there. I hardly think an earthquake in New Zealand will light one off. It's more complicated than that. Slamjet; This a super volcano - the second largest volcano on earth. It is also a very young volcano that no one even knew about 15 years ago. The current status is that a major eruption is eminent. For some reason the global warming people want to prevent information about this volcano from reaching the public. I do not understand why - an eruption would be more devastating than global warming. But it is the sole reason for over 3% increase in temperature in the Antarctic. There is no history on this volcano and thus no one knows what the connections are with geological activity in the southern hemisphere. Once it was discovered that it was not global warming - funding for research has been cut off. Thus all the data you can get on the internet or other sources is over 10 years old. I have been watching the melting of polar ice at the South Pole and it is increasing - a lot. Current reports are blaming global warming despite the fact that the ice is melting from the bottom up and not top down as global warming would predict. One of the signs of the times is that the seas would over reach their boundaries. If our friendly volcano continues to warm up we will start seeing climate changes and ocean levels rise - even without a major eruption. The Traveler Quote
